Poor service and money was stolen out of safe

We booked this hotel for our Family vacation, 15 of us went hoping for a wonderful family vacation. I felt the hotel was nice with great pool area with many activities for our kids, and the food was pretty good. However, the service was pretty bad, it took forever to get drinks or food by the pools, and the beach was loaded with smelly seaweed. Most of the other hotels clean theirs up daily, but here they only have people out there every few days so it piles up to where u can’t even get to the water and begins to smell. It was clear that the hotel is understaffed and/or in financial distress. Even with all of that I wasn’t going to complain until the last night of our trip when my sister-in-law went back to her room after dinner and found 3 security guards in her room near her safe. When they saw her they ran out. After checking the safe she discovered that her code was reset and $150 was stolen. Of course we contacted to hotel management but nothing was done. They said they could see that the room was entered at such time, but they didn’t have cameras so we couldn’t prove anything. The security can freely get their hands on the device that can get into any of the safes to open them without any monitoring of this device or cameras. So Please don’t trust that your stuff is in this hotel.

It was decent ... but the service isn't the best.

First thing, if you don't pay extra to stay on the adults only side you are limited to only a few restaraunts and space on the resort. The service is so/so. All the bartenders and restaurant staff were nice but the hotel office staff left something to be desired. Make sure to get you name in line right at 6:00pm for the restaurants or you'll be stuck at the buffet for dinner. Breakfast is great but the lunch and dinner buffet are just okay. The restaurants that needed reservations were nice. The beach is beautiful. We snorkeled and saw a few rays near the shore. There is even a pier to walk out on. If you're looking for a great beach, drinks and just want to enjoy the sun it was a good deal for the price. Also, it's an hour from the airport but it's worth the drive for a quiet beach.

You get what you pay for

The resort was highly understaffed so there were constant lines for the sushi bar, express shop, bars, waiting for food/drinks inside the restaurants. It's hard to know if they did this on purpose but it was very annoying. There would be one person making drink, one person making coffee, one person handling multiple tables inside a restaurant. The bathrooms in the main lobby area were always out of the paper towels or soap. I went to a staff member to inform them their was no soap in the ladies bathroom, he directed me to another bathroom. He didn't seem to grasp that there is no soap in the bathroom. The lobby staff work very slow. Be ready to wait again. Since people are always coming and going there tends to be a lot of waiting so get there super early or late to deal with whatever you need to deal with because you will end of up waiting. The staff fails at basic customer service and have no sense consideration for anyone else's time. Everyone is very pushy about signing up some kind of activity or something. I was approached three times on the beach for a spa treatment. They have zero ability to read body language and are basically having to do this because this is their job so just ready to constantly say no thank you. The hotel hallways always had over flowing garbages, smoke trays with lots of used cigarette butts. Having to walk past it constantly to/from my room was pretty gross. The staff don't seem to pay attention to little details like that. The drinking cups are to be recycled not thrown away and the bar tenders will run out of cups and leave you waiting to look for more cups to sanitize and use. Shouldn't they have someone running around picking up the cups already? This place was not ran efficiently and you could tell some of the staff members were burden but this extra work. Now the kids pool was really cool. The buffet food was good. For the most part the staff was nice. Some of the staff could learn to be more chipper, fake it until you make it. Comparing this resort with others I've been too previously, I wouldn't come back to this one.

Would not come back

Overall not a bad resort but needs much improvement. Everything required waiting. To get a drink, you have to wait, to get food, wait is even longer. Everywhere the wait was about an hour except for the buffet. There was no wait in the buffet, but the food selection was disappointing. If they hired more people, the service would be much faster. The beach was amazing except for the rocks in the ocean. The pool was good. I would not come back here!
