Amazing Honeymoon

My husband and I booked this vacation for our honeymoon. We had both been dying to get to a beach and in need of a break from work. Check-in- quick and easy. No wait. They gave us a safe key to use for our in room safe. We didn’t use the safe. Just make sure you keep up with the key, it cost $40 if you lose it. Room- on our reservation I told them it was our honeymoon. When we got to our room they had a honeymoon banner on our door. Rose petals on the bed and a bottle of champagne. It was a very nice surprise for us after a long day of travel. The room itself was pretty basic, the bed was okay and the bathroom was okay. If you want a luxury room this is not it, but if you just want a decent bed to sleep on and a nice shower to get clean, this is great. The food- AMAZING! We stayed 4 nights so we were allotted 2 a-la-Cart dinners. We chose Tequila and Le-Gourmet (which was on a separate resort on the same property). The food was great at both but we liked Tequila better. You have to make a reservation for these and if you want a sunset time, you have to book the reservation early. We ended up getting late dinners both times but that was okay with us. The buffet was really great too. They have tons of options and fresh fruit all day. The snack bar was pretty good too. It’s great for late night eats, or if you want a drink after hours. My husband and I would recommend the nachos. They had some raccoons that were coming to make friends for food but they were not aggressive at all. They were very friendly which was a huge surprise for us as raccoons are not nice in the states. The resort- it is very big and we enjoyed walking all around to combat all the eating and drinking we were doing. They had a shopping area for local crafts and things. We didn’t buy anything but it was nice to look around. The disco was a lot of fun but I would not recommend going the night before you leave. we had a rough travel day back. The beach- the beach was beautiful. However there was a lot of seaweed. A lot. They had people cleaning it everyday all day but it was a lot. That didn’t bother us but if it would bother you, I would recommend waiting until May ish to go. The beach did have rocks in the sand and in the water so you had to be careful where you stepped. That was a little annoying but not terrible. The pool- beautiful. We saw at least two pools, including the main one. They had activities during the day like bingo, water polo, water aerobics. And they had a DJ playing music. We hung out at the swim up bar a lot. It was really really nice. We made a lot of friends there and it was nice to see them around the resort later. On one of the days the resort brought out a bbq grill and they did a poolside BBQ which was sooooooo good. It was a nice surprise. As I didn’t even know they did that. Miscellaneous- we got suckered into going off the resort for a “presentation” which was basically a time share, no matter what they say. I would avoid that like the plague as it doesn’t take an hour like they say. It took 2.5 hours and it was in the middle of prime beach/pool times. It was a very frustrating. These people have tan shirts and they will try and get you to go to one of the other resorts in the property. DONT. All in all we had the most amazing time. Minus the small things I mentioned above we would go back to this resort in a heartbeat. In fact we are already planning it.

Vacationed in April 2018

The Grand Bahia Principe Tulum is a beautiful resort. We were fortunate that our room was close to the main lobby and main pools. Our room was beautiful and very clean. The resort lobby was under construction and would have loved to see what it would look like when it is done, but the construction was never loud and we were not inconvenienced by it at all. The Mohito's were the best drink at the resort! The staff did an excellent job in trying to keep up with the seaweed. We read a lot of reviews before going and have to tell you that we do not have any negative comments on the resort. We were able to use the Coba Resort as well. The Coba resort is more family oriented with a lot of little kids. We only went there for the restaurants. I would recommend both of the Japanese restaurants. They were excellent. The wait staff, bartenders and entertainment were very friendly and there was always something going on. We had a great time and would recommend this resort to anyone! The hour drive from the airport was worth it.

Not bad for the price

The pool was nice but the beach was not. The restaurants were good. The bartenders and servers were great but the check in/out staff were rude and unprofessional. A decent place for the price. The main reason I would not recommend this resort is the beach.

Not the best

A few things to mention before booking this hotel... 2hr drive by am star from airport. Nice beach but constant wind. Beach water is only knee deep where allowed to swim! No room service and waiters do not deliver drinks on beach... you always get your own drinks. Don’t upgrade because we paid $90 the only thing different was a free safe in room which is only $40.00 save $50 for yourself. I have booked many vacations thru cheap Caribbean and El Cids was top notch! Loved it there and next vacation will be there! The service there is phenomenal! Thanks for viewing my opinion! Kate:)
