Terrible Service,Poor food quality,Limited Dining

This is the 2nd time we were in Punta Cana. We were travelling with 2 elderly parents and a child. The first time we stayed at the Majestic Colonial Resort, which offered much better service with may be 15% higher cost. First, the check-in process was slow. We were greeted by a very unprofessional staff called William. He would show us a straight face without smile but flirt happily with his female co-workers. When he put the wristband on us, one of the wristband was broken. He then left to the backroom without communication for over 10 minutes. When he came back with the keys, we told him about the broken wristband, he sighed and was very rude to say that he could charge us USD 100 for a replacement. He then said that he was too busy to get a replacement now and asked us to come back in 2 hours to get it fixed. Then he gave us the keys and sent us away without explaining the facilities or our benefits. I have been to 36 countries in the world with many international and domestic trips. I have visited any lodging options from 3 star hotels to 5 star hotels. This is by far the worst check-in experience we had. I have provided my review to management about William's behavior and strongly suggest a review of his work. Now, let's talk about the facility. The resort is dated as I expected at the first place, which is fine. However, the room is dirty and the housekeeping service is not up to par. We were not given any fingertip towels , insufficient bath towels, shampoo and conditioners for 3 people (2 adults and 1 child) every day. Also, there is terrible lighting in the room. By 6pm, the room is fully dark with barely 2 lights at the night stands and one wall-mount light by the TV. There is no floor lamp. When we called facility, the person told us that it is the standard design of the room and he cannot give us a floor lamp unless we report the issue to the front desk and the front desk will need to order it. When we called the front desk, the person said that he would look into it but he did nothing. Regarding the food, which is one of the important elements for our family. First, let's talk about dining reservation. We were allowed to have sit-down dinners in only 2 restaurants for 6-day-stay. We made our reservation on Day 1 when we arrived. First of all, there is not a lot of availability. We arrived on Friday but there is no availability for a party of 5 until Monday and Tuesday, luckily right before we left. Second, we made a reservation for both Monday and Tuesday for 7pm. We were told that we need to show up at the front desk to secure the reservation. This is the most ridiculous process I have heard. I asked the staff why that step is necessary as we are making the reservation now. We have excursion planned and won't be back until around 6pm and will not have time to come back for confirmation. I asked why we cannot go to the restaurant directly at 7pm. After showing my resistance and challenging the unreasonable process, the person then said it is okay for us to go to restaurant directly at 7pm without checking in at 6pm. Regarding the food option, in the website, it was advertised that there are multiple restaurants. However, they are not always available for general members. There is pretty much only 1 air-conditioned buffet restaurant. The food offerring is not impressive. The breakfast variety is good. They even offer caviar and smoke salmon everyday but they are not extremely fresh. Lunch and dinner are disappointing. The pasta counter only offer ham, mushroom, onion, celery, tomato, green pepper and cheese everyday without changes. The other food quality is less than desirable. To conclude, I will not recommend this resort to anyone. I have tried Grand Bahia Principe in Jamaica myself in 2011 and the quality was a bit better.

very very disappointed Run don't book

We just arrived yesterday and were very very disappointed with our vacation as much as we are bitten by the mosquitos (we used 2 kinds of bug spray) nothing helped. We are not picky at all and love to travel to different resorts so this wasn't our first time. When we arrived "someone" took our luggage and placed it on the side where anyone could just walk away with it. We checked in and where told that we where in building 35, as Lucas rolled his eyes we explained that when we booked on cheapcarribean.com we asked to be put close to beach such as buildings 1-10 he then told us no because that was for Royal Gold members. We then went to try and reserve for dinner while our rooms were being prepared as to which we were informed we could only book 3 special dinners other then the buffet. We said ok and asked what was available lol he says for the entire week you are here we only have Mediterranean restaurant on Sunday (the day before we leave). As for all the other restaurants we needed to go to lobby everyday at 6:30 and see if there were cancelations. We went to dinner at the "booked solid" restaurant that was empty and the food was horrible as well. I could go on forever, but I'm not a complainer. The room was ok the towels in the bathroom were few and old. Beach was over crowed and you need to get up at 5:30am to get a seat with shade or close to water. ` Just very disorganized with activities on the beach or at the pool or inside the main lobby... However when its to finish music or dancing or any kind of fun they do unplug straight away.....

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

THE ROOMS WERE NICE. I WENT WITH MY BROTHER AND ASKED FOR 2 DOUBLE BEDS IN THE SPECIAL REQUEST SECTION. WE GOT TO OUR ROOM AND ONLY HAD ONE BED.. WENT TO THE DESK AND TOLD THEM THEY HAD MADE A MISTAKE. WE WERE TOLD ITS A REQUEST NOT A GUARANTEE. SO FOR THE WEEK MY BROTHER SLEPT ON THE COUCH IN OUR ROOM. NOT FAIR TO US THAT HE HAD TO DO THAT. SO THAT STARTED OUT THE VACATION ON A BAD NOTE. NEXT WE TRIED TO FIND FOOD .....AT THE BUFFET FLIES WERE ON THE FOOD ...SO SKIPPED THAT . HAD TO FIGURE OUT WHERE TO EAT FROM THAT POIT ON. THE BEACHES AND POOLS WERE GREAT. FOR THE MOST PART THE EMPLOYEES OF THE HOTEL WERE VERY FRIENDLY AND FUN.. THE EXCURSIONS WE BOOKED WERE FUN....THE DUNE BUGGY RIDE WAS AWSOME BUT THE HORSE BACK RIDING NOT SO MUCH. AND THATS THE ONE WE LOOKED FORWARD TO. SO IT WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTING. ALL IN ALL WE MADE THE BEST OF OUR VACATION. AND LIKE I SAID IN THE BEGINGNG " YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" I STILL THINK WE WOULD DO IT AGAIN...BUT THIS TIME WE WOULD KNOW WHAT WE ARE GETTING

Unorganized

Did not know any details about flight and checking in until we called to ask the day before. Flight went smoothly, checking in was surprisingly quick and easy. However once we arrived in Punta Cana it went downhill. I booked the same night as 4 other groups of my friends with transportation. So we all went to the same bus. My name was the only one not on the list. Somehow I was on a separate bus because they put me in the “Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana” and the other groups were in the “Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro”. Even though we all booked within minutes of each other. Once we got to the resort, my reservation was not on any list at both hotels and the workers were not much help. After 3 hours of trying to talk to the workers one guy figured out that my reservation was not processed for some reason? Once we figured that out the stay went well, but there was a lot of time wasted because of either unorganization between the hotel and cheap Caribbean.
