Not too fond of this hotel

The stay was not what I expected. The room was hot, even with the air conditioner on. The air conditioner felt like it was blowing 70 degree air while on high. The air conditioner was controlled by the terrace door. If I opened the terrace door, the air conditioner will automatically shut off. When I closed the terrace door, the air conditioner will automatically turn back on. The room had a ceiling fan that produced cool air. The refrigerator did not work. All the products in the refrigerator the hotel provided was hot. The cleaning staff did not clean my room on a daily basis. I had to call the front desk for someone to come and clean the room. They did not show up until the following afternoon. The hotel had WiFi but only in the lobby. I needed WiFi to make international calls or international service. If I wanted access to WiFi in the room, that would cost extra. If I wanted WiFi access in the lobby, the hotel’s staff would ask for my phone to put in the password themselves. They would not give me access to the password. Also, if I needed WiFi during the days of my stay, I would have to take a trolley, in 88 degree weather, to the lobby everyday to get the WiFi password. That became a headache. This hotel was recommended to me. I thought it would be a dream come true. If you decide to vacation here, use your own judgement and experience, and find out for yourself.

We are going back in late July!!

The Grand Bahia is an amazing resort with beautiful landscaping. The rooms are very homey and comfortable.. The people at the resort are so nice and helpful it makes you want to comeback which we are in later July. The only thing that I would suggest to improve is making reservations for dinner at the many restaurants. We arrived on a Friday afternoon and could not get a reservation at any of the restaurants for 3 days. They were all booked up. I was told you have to make reservations in the morning. Well that didn’t work either. So we ate at the buffet for 3 nights and the food was amazing. Also if you can’t or would prefer not to walk up 6 flights of stairs, make sure you book your room on the first or second floors. We had the third floor which grew old very quickly. I rate this resort at a 9 out of 10. If we would have had a lower floor it would have been a 10! Oh I forgot to mention the pools on their property. We took a dip in all of them and the temperature was perfect in all. Hope to see you there in late July! Dave

Beautiful McCaws Monkey was adorable!

HORRIBLE !

The only reason I am giving one star is so I can leave this review. They really deserves minus 5 stars, This places is horrible. We went to the Grand Bahia Principe all inclusive resorts in Punta Cana,We had a group of 7 people ,with 4 rooms, 4 out and they all had issues. The first day we were not greeted with the usual welcome to Punta Cana greeting. When we got to the room 32307 it was extremely hot.We call twice before we were change to another room and that one 30307 was worst the refrigerator was like an oven. The electrical outlets seem to be on a timer or had shortage.East Stroudsburg The towels were hard and dingy if they had any.I called the concierge twice and went to the desk still didn’t received wash cloth. Outside of the check front desk and the bartenders wait staff spoke little to no English. The drink of the day was not inclusive. So now the food in we were in the United Staes the main restaurant would have gotten a failing grade. The food was never hot. It was temped to cold all the time. They had one microwave and they remove that. On our last day I ate lunch before we left the resort and my l notice my leg was a little red I thought it was from the mosquito bites.t The 1.5 hour drive when we got the the Punta Cana airport I began the feel nauseous, I took a Pepto ,began to feel chills ,nausea and have the worst headache. Once on the plane had to take Alker Seltzer and Advil for my stomach and headache,my leg became progress worst to the point that it was difficult to walk.Went to ER the very next morning as I could not walk could not put any weigh on it, after Ultra Sound to rule out Blood Clots and CT to rule out Appendicitis. I was diagnosed with Cellulitis the Dr said could have come for the towels scratching my skin and then going into the Ocean water so I am on 4 pills every 6 hours for 10 days. The only good things were the excursions.

Rough start

This trip was for my 40th Bday, on arrival the wait to check in was rediculous, once it was our turn, they told us to hold on and went in the back, after almost 2 hours they finally let us know that they did not have our reservation, they gave us two room, now almost 9pm we were starving so we ate first, after dinner we go to our rooms and the second room was occupied!!! Back to the desk we go, very irritated since had to wait again due to what appeared to be lack of knowledge on most of the desk staff, they had to keep asking “Eduardo” questions and he was chit chatting off to the side most of the time. Very irritated that this was my Bday and the start of our trip. Thankfully next day everything changed, food was actually pretty good, room was comfortable, beach was beautiful beside the amount of seaweed, but they cleaned it daily. Pools were nice, drinks were good, staff was pleasant. Overall I’d definitely go back just not use Cheap Caribbean again!
