Huge and rude

First off the grounds are beautiful and the interior of the room is nice and the food was delicious with many options. The pools are also nice. Now for the bad. First off they upgraded us to the luxury suit which gave us access to the WHOLE resort. Nice right? Outside of our room was the property line and right on the other side was the loading dock and construction entrance of another smaller resort. Every morning at 7am there was forklifts and dump trucks and 100s of people constantly coming by our room until dark. Pretty annoying and not a pretty sight to see while “relaxing” on your balcony. Then this resort is huge and it doesn’t go along the beach huge it goes deep huge which means all them people are packed in on their small little beachfront area. You have to get to the beach by 9 or you won’t find a spot and by lunch you can’t see anything but people. Again not a relaxing pretty view. We would head to the pools around lunch which are less crowded bc the have a lot. Beach is also a LONG ways from most rooms. Last off 90% of the employees are very rude and act like you are bothering them if you ask for anything. Not just us seen them treat other people the same way. Tipping them also won’t help they will still be rude. For us next time we are sticking to smaller resorts.

Fair But Not Recommended

This resort is for people who don't care about hotels, food, and activities. Beach is great and pools are great. However, if you would like some better food quality in the buffet, more restaurants, free high-quality internet, more professional stuff, and better rooms - then, I would advise searching more. There are better resorts like majestic or Iberostar, even Rio. You may also try Luxury Bahia (we tried in Cancun) and it will be better than this hotel.

Grand Bahia doesn't disappoint.

This was our 2nd trip to this resort. The first was 4 years ago. We did try one other resort in between but found it lacking when compared to our experiences at the Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro. Why we love this resort: This resort complex is made up of multiple resorts which means that there is a lot of square footage to spread out. While certain options are only available for the use of those individual resort guests, we have never had an issue with general exploration of the area. There are also multiple pools to choose from whether you prefer the larger party pool area or are more interested in the laid back chill version.. or the kid's water park. All are nice. We like the Bavaro because it is a good value and we don't need the extras offered at the "luxury" resorts at the Bahia complex. Room: The rooms we have stayed in have been clean and fairly well maintained. Occasionally there is a hiccup with a light bulb burn out. but nothing to ruin your trip over. The room is cleaned daily and well by the housemaid and if you give a tip, you will find your housekeeper will make extra efforts whether it is towel art or extra drinks in your room fridge. (one note on those refrigerators... they are located in a cabinet and don't cool as well with the door closed, so we left it open and found it was much cooler for the drinks.) The rooms have been temperature comfortable and left one of our roomkeys in the slot so that it would cool all day. (there is a slot to cut off power if you take the key out.. but no problem just leave it in). Beach: sand is powder soft and I didn't have to wear beach shoes. Surf is moderate but has always been ok for wading/swimming. Water is clear and there are plenty of chairs even with the people that reserve chairs. (not supposed to reserve, but of course many do but that isn't just an issue at this resort..lol). Pools: Lots of pools with swim up bars and great bartenders who are even happier to help with a small gratuity. We never had a problem getting service or a seat. Restaurants: Big buffet has themed menus so it is always a bit different for lunch and dinner service (breakfast is generally the same daily). While I didn't like everything I got there, there was certainly always something I DID like. Everyone has different tastes and since the hotel caters to a wide variety of nationalities, it may vary on what you like vs. the next person. The Ala Carte meals are generally nice but sometimes it can be difficult to get reservations. There is a WEBAPP now, and I would also go see a concierge and see if they could get around the system. ALSO, don't be afraid to dress for dinner and go see if someone misses their reservation. They will give them away if they are more than 5 or 10 minutes late. Overall the resort is kept very clean and they do try with the upkeep as well. Of course there may be a repair in the tile of a pool or a repair you notice somewhere else, but the resort is not brand new and they seem to do a great job keeping up with everything. Bottom line. GREAT value. Great people. Great property. Just keep in mind that it is a value proposition. I don't believe there are many other options that have such great weather year round!

bahia principe, punta cana

while a very nice resort, it's the same old same old! 1. cheap Caribbean doesn't give you sufficient information and directions, etc.! 2. It's almost impossible to talk to someone in charge of a specific issue, at Bahia Principe's Local Phone contact; lots of disconnect and excuses that they couldn't do anything until you are there. {but, than you are told you should have made reservations to specialty restaurants at least 3 weeks prior! a catch 22]! 3. No local driving directions, calls for direction upon arriving in the area, where unanswered]; and NO street name signs, NOR other signage to Resort, which one can only access through rough looking roads/areas. Having 7 resorts in 1 area, signage at the resort is also very limited, as is parking, which is mostly reserved for management! 4. The only descendant specialty Restaurant was the Brazilian, the Seafood, Italian and Japanese [al carte] had a very limited specialty menu, and quality of food was so so; as was the Buffet's with limited daily variety! 5. While Bar service was plentiful, their drinks were very watered down, or mostly sugar water, with no taste of alcohol! 6. For thousands of vacationers of 7 resorts, Beach and Pool access to lounges was very limited and impossible to find! 7. Personnel was very friendly and helpful and tried to do their best with the limited options they had to work under. 8. The whole thing is geared to make more money from the guests. Naturally everything is highly overpriced!!
