Good resort

Resort was very beautiful. It was all very good. A few things that might not be evident from the resort website: - beach is amazing, powdery sand, artificial barriers to keep waves to minimum. - Most of the buildings and pools are surrounded with palm trees, so you dont get full sun all day. - nice loungers for both beach and poolside - Tamara at the Papitos restaurant is the nicest person! Pluses: - service staff was always extremely friendly - concierges were great! - food was very good (favorite was asian restaurant- visited 4 times!) - drinks and beverages were well made (hate frozen drinks that still have huge ice chunks in them) Could be better: - had a room with a private pool. Seemed to be not the cleanest. However, when asked to have it cleaned, it was cleaned immediately. - stayed in building 4, and for three days in a row, either had no water at all and had to call down to get it fixed, or was showering and water ran out. Lasted about 10 minutes. - room service seemed to take a bit longer than expected - some tvs in the rooms were smart tvs- which is great to watch netflix or other app. Other rooms have just plain tvs. Would be nice to have a smart tv in each room instead of having to go to your concierge to pick out a dvd. - the resort is next to a public beach and on the weekend there were a lot of non-resort people visiting. They often times wandered onto the beach in front of the resort and onto the artificial island in front of the resort. Was a little weird to see families having picnics on the island while resort guests were wading around with cocktails. The public beach also brings with it kids. Often times saw children on the resort beach even through it is identified as adults only. Minus: - chose this resort for its gourmet inclusive and beaches, which were great. When we booked, we made note that this trip was our honeymoon. When we arrived, we presented our marriage certificate and the resort said that the concierge would contact us with the honeymoon perks. The next day, we spent 20-30 minutes with the concierge getting us settled in and such. The perks we were given were nice, but at the end of the meeting, we were told that we would get these perks if we attended a resort club membership meeting. So really, we didnt get any special perks for our honeymoon, because we were just another couple being run through their sales program. We ended up doing the sales meeting because we were told it would be less than an hour. - sales meeting took 2 hours Please be 100% transparent from the very start. I am not a fan of wasting my vacation time sitting and listening to sales pitches! Any advice to future visitors, be aware they have a sales program- if you get and perks offered, check if there are strings attached.

El Dorado Moroma - For Relaxing Peace & Quiet

This was the best vacation I've ever had. I don't travel much and was looking for a low stress, relaxing vacation at a smaller, all-inclusive, adult only resort. Yes, our first room wasn't what we hoped, but Max fixed that issue and gave us our dream room. Carlos made sure our drinks were never empty. Every single restaurant is good, some are even outstanding. The beach and resort are gorgeous. The main pool does play loud-ish music during the middle of the day, but every where else is simply the sounds of the ocean breeze. The concierge desk is very helpful, but not pushy. If you're looking for non-stop entertainment and high energy, this is not the place for you. If you want laid back, peaceful beauty and outstanding service, El Dorado Maroma is the place for you.

Romantic luxury getaway

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at El Dorado Maroma. Our experience at the resort was fabulous. When we originally arrived at the resort, it was a bit underwhelming with the lengthy jungle entrance and simple reception and lobby. However, we were immediately greeted and met with outstanding service and friendly demeanor. This is something which carried throughout our stay. Our personal concierge Dennys was extremely accommodating throughout the entire stay. Within our room, we enjoyed a fantastic suite which included a balcony pool, Jacuzzi, and view overlooking the pool and beach. There was also an outdoor shower which we seldom used but was a nice touch. We were able to choose personalized scents for the room as well as individual pillows. The one downside to the stay was the actual bed. We felt the bed was way too soft and we suffered sharp back pain throughout the trip. For dining, there are several restaurants to choose from. The options range from local Mexican to fine dining at the Palafitos. This is certainly a strong point for all Karisma resorts. The only challenge for us was finding vegetarian food. They are however very accommodating and the chefs were able to prepare something special. The beach is also underwhelming due to the sea weed which covers the coastline. Throughout the morning, you will be accustomed to seeing staff and bull dozers lifting and moving sea weed. This is quite a sore sight and prevents the guests from visiting the beach.

LOVE, LOVE LOVE El Dorado Maroma!

This was our 10th or so trip to the Riviera Maya, but our first to El Dorado Maroma. We stayed down the beach at Secrets Maroma 6 months ago and given the chance to go again, I would pick El Dorado over Secrets. The resort is so relaxed, laid back and pretty. Nothing super fancy, but perfect in every way. You won't find foam parties or many drunks (although you will find a few drunks slamming drinks and flicking cigarette ashes in the pool), but at Secrets, there were a lot more of those! Ages were varied all week long....honeymooners in their 20's up to couples in their 70's and everything in between. We were fine with relaxed evenings that weren't full of big bars with more people smoking and drinking and getting louder by the hour. Nope, nights at El Dorado are relaxed and quiet. Lots of places to cozy in for a drink and a game, or to chat with the amazing bartenders or other guests...or you could find a hammock and chill. Food at every restaurant was great. No big buffets full of weird food that no one eats like at most bigger resorts. Only one tiny buffet here, as most food is cooked to order. Our room was very large and had everything we needed. The weather was perfect all week. Only rained a couple of times, and only at night when we weren't even aware of it! The seaweed came in each night and they cleaned it right up. We walked to Secrets one day (about a 45 min walk) and their beach was FULL of seaweed and the ocean was un-swimmable. El Dorado maroma is so lucky to have that shallow, calm water with those sandbags (although slightly unsightly) they do probably keep the seaweed from coming all day! We did 3 snorkling excursions (one to cozumenl) and 2 just right next door at Maroma Advetures. Enjoyed all of them. We will for SURE book with this resort again next time we visit the area. Of all the adults only resorts we have been to, this is probably our fave. Just a warm, relaxed feeling that really puts you on true vacation mode. The staff in all Mexican resorts we have visited is top notch, and this place was no exception. Such amazing people!
