AMAZING Resort, good food and spacious property!
My wife and I really truly enjoyed every second at this Resort . The service was a little slow at times, but we started tipping anywhere from a couple bucks to $10 at a times and it made a HUGE difference. Our glasses were never empty, service drastically improved. Aside from that everything about the resort was perfect, we didn't want to come home. Plenty of pool space for whatever mood you are in, kids / no kids, swim up bar, and beach front. We did an excursion that included a little of everythin such as Horse Back Riding, Zip Lining, Hot Springs and a water slide. Beware the water slide it is a little bumpy and rougher than you would expect, but fun none the less. We would 100% recommend this property and will be back, it was so beautiful and you see so much nature all around. We saw monkeys, raccoons, iguanas, and all sorts of animals!
The resorts grounds are beautiful, pools lovely and staff pleasant and helpful. The food was excellent with a good amount of selections including vegetarian options. But the first room had shower problems plus was up a fairly steep hill though I had messaged I had a hard time walking. In the second room the "hot tub",which in reality is a jacuzzi tub ,was unplugged and ceiling fan had burnt out bulb. Both were fixed in a timely manner. They tried hard for a open modern look with the bathroom including only a curtain to separate from the bed area. The toilet and shower have frosted glass doors, providing little privacy. The shower has a rainfall spigot and a handheld but doesn't drain well.No grab bars. The bed was very comfortable and they had a "selection"of pillows..
As stated the grounds are beautiful with a wide variety of floral and fauna.Flocks of magpies and parrots reside even racoons that come right in at a open air eatery. But it is huge with a lot of stairs many broken.Pathways at night are not well lighten.Golf carts driven by staff are available
The pools are again lovely, quite large and well maintained. But they close at 7:00 pm and the jacuzzi is the size of a home one, almost an after thought. Overall if you are in good health and don't care to sightsee much, all tours and wildlife places are a good 1 1/2 away,I recommend There is quite a lot to do that the resort provides and kids club.
This was my first time to Dreams Costa Rica but I have done 2 other resorts with this brand. A Secrets and Dreams in Mexico and I would give this resort and average of 4 our of 5. We already knew when we booked that it was a 1 hour 30 minute drive from the airport so do not book if this is too long for you. Also since the drive is that far, the excursions are just as far so think wisely if you plan on during an excursion it will take the entire day.
Positives: The resort was beautiful. So much green and very large. There was 2 pools but it seems like 10 since they were all spread out and had infinity walls. There was plenty of seating around the pools. There was always a waiter coming around to see if we needed drinks. The buffet food was ok but we only went there for breakfast. The food at the nighttime restaurants was amazing and we enjoyed ordering many items off the menus. The service was great at those restaurants also. We could get into any restaurant without a problem besides the Japanese place. We had to wait about 40 minutes to get a normal table. The piano/martini bar was the best place to hang out. Great drinks and the gentleman playing the piano made the night. People mentioned the racoons at night and yes they are everywhere but they were funny and did not bother you so just enjoy the night.
Negatives: Starting with the piano bar. It was the only place at night to get drinks on the entire resort. Not only that there was people in there with the kids and strollers and I know it was a kid friendly hotel but it would be nice to have one place to hang out with adults since it was the only bar at nighttime. The other resorts I was at had like 100 bottles of liquor behind each bar. I think this one had 20 so the selection was poor. The coca café was always a favorite for these brands but this one was terrible. No alcohol to put in the coffee drinks, the sandwiches or snacks selection was poor, and the lady who worked there in the afternoon was not nice to us. I always loved that you could get 24 hour room service and we got pizza one night. They were disgusting and a frozen pizza from the grocery store would have been better. I rarely went to the beach because there was constant sales people for souvenirs and excursions. They really need to do something so you can enjoy some time on the beach.
All in All it was a great vacation. I probably would not have had so many negatives if I did not go to other resorts within the same brand.

It’s all in the name Dreams
One of our best family vacation. There’s nothing to complain about, the hotel was clean. The staff was wonderful and friendly, always smiling and acknowledging you as you walk by. The staff don’t say you’re welcome when you thanked them for their help or services, they replied it’s my pleasure. I was very impressed with this resort. Looking into going back for my bday and I never visited a hotel twice. Don’t hesitate to book this hotel, you won’t be disappointed.

Yes, you can. I highly recommend doing that at hotel. Ether people on beach (much cheaper) or 5-6 different excursion people. Negotiate!

How long is the stretch of beach?2 answers
My husband and I like to take morning walks on a beach. How long (length) can we safely walk on the beach?
5 years, 64 months ago

Dreams Las Mareas is located on the gorgeous El Jobo beach, sporting white sand beaches surrounded by lush jungles on the Northern coast of Guanacaste. You will need to check with the front desk of the boundaries for the beach.
KristenCC
The beach is probably only a half mile long but you can walk along the cove on the rocks to other areas. It was a fun hike but I recommend being in shape and flexible. I enjoyed my morning walks on the beach and rocks but it is not for everyone.

I saw exactly ZERO bicycle for rent. They have a daily walking nature tour where you might see monkeys. Until the roads are paved you, in my option, don't want to be going on a bike ride.

Is dreams Las mareas non- preferred junior swim out a true swim-out?4 answers
I'm looking to book a junior suite swim-out room. Wanted to know if it's a true swim out room, or is it a room that walking distance to a pool.? Are the preferred club swim-out rooms the only way to get a TRUE swim-out room where you walk off of your terrace INTO a pool?
4 years, 58 months ago
Chicago
All of the swim-out suites have direct pool access right outside the room. The only difference between the preferred club and the non preferred club are the amenities that come with the package. Preferred club amenities include: VIP status and amenities, Upgraded toiletries, Private Pool and Jacuzzi in pool area, Concierge service, Free Internet access in room.
SalCC
The only swim up rooms were in building 2, it seemed there were 10 of these. They only have a pool that goes from the first room to the last swim up room. It doesn't go anywhere but in front of your room.
Libby1943
We did not have one of these rooms but I did see them just this past week. They have a small pool stepping off the patio but they do not connect to the larger pools. As for proximity to the large pools it varied as the rooms are located in multiple buildings throughout the property. When I observed these types of rooms that were near the pool I only saw one guest actually in them one time. I don't know if this was because no one had the room or other reason. The large pools were pretty warm so I would think these small pools would be really warm! One thought I had about them was that would be an ideal situation if you had a toddler with you and didn't want to lug them to the big pools.
MojitoGirl1
The swim-out rooms have a small, narrow pool right in front of them that literally comes off the porch (assuming ground level), otherwise all the rooms are really close to the pools. There are multiple pools so you're always by one!

Rain is frequent in any tropical environment. Typically it does not rain for more than an hour at a time in Costa Rica, but there is often overcast.
