    Peaceful beach vacation

Very beautiful and quiet location, a hidden paradise. We stayed in a 2B facing the ocean and it was excellent. The place was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Taxis are available at fixed rates and easy to get. Plenty of food choices nearby so need for car or taxi. You have limited flights from US on all days except Saturday so plan ahead. We went to shipwreck and caribelle batik. The scenic railway only runs when there are more cruise ships so couldn’t go. Coconut grove had good Mexican food, Indian summer and rituals coffee are our favorites. The rams grocery store has everything you need. If you want a quiet beach vacation this is the place to go.

The best place to rest and recharge

The landscape here is like a postcard from all over the island. The people were the most hospitable and gracious and that is an important element of enjoying your vacation. We plan to return for another week and enjoy the beach activities and zip-lining.

Ocean view rooms can’t all see the ocean!

It’s what you expect from a Marriott Vacation property - clean, well-kept, and comfortable. We have been impressed with the staff and their uniformly welcoming and friendly attitude. The bar/grill food has also been good. One caveat - some of the “ocean view” rooms don’t actually see the ocean. Ours doesn’t -attached pic is our view. When I pointed this out, they did try to move us but there wasn’t an available option and there was no way to refund me the extra few hundred dollars I spent for ocean view for five nights. I would have upgraded to “ocean side” but those weren’t available either. All in all, we are enjoying our stay and I really appreciate the birthday card and fresh flowers that the staff had in the room on our arrival!

Goldilocks: not too big, not too small

This is a nice relaxed resort that is just the right size. It’s big enough to support the amenities that you want (restaurants, a couple onsite stores, activity center, etc.), but it doesn’t ever feel overcrowded or impersonal like some mega-resorts we’ve been to. A great option for a family visiting this beautiful island. Our 2 bedroom villa had an amazing direct ocean view, 2 balconies, comfortable beds, in-unit laundry, fully stocked kitchen and lots of space. One downside: we were on the 3rd floor with no elevator so lugging the suite case was a chore. The pools and swim up bar were nice, though the water was a bit too warm. We never had trouble finding chairs, except for one day when it seemed that a group of people showed up from a cruise ship. Only the main pool has a hot tub. The north and south pools are super quiet, while the main pool had a DJ in the afternoon. The beach was great. The cabanas are free and we were able to find one available each time we came down to the beach. Servers will bring you drinks on the beach if you would like. The resort has snorkeling gear available, and we were able to see some fish right out in front of the hotel. The food was decent overall, but selection was limited. The poolside restaurant was good, especially the blackened fish sandwich and the steak wrap. We ate at both the Italian and steak restaurants for dinner and found them overpriced relative to what they served. The onsite seafood restaurant was closed and we didn’t really like the lobby sushi bar - take the short walk to Rituals instead for Sushi. I recommend going offsite for most dinners. The grocery store is directly across the street and was well stocked with everything you need. There are also several good restaurants in walking distance. I recommend Rock Lobster and Rituals.

    Magnificent Beachfront

We normally try to book local hotels when traveling to the Caribbean, but for this trip opted for the Marriott and glad we did. This was an outstanding property with some of the best beach access on the island. We were provided a room in one of the many “condo style” units with an ocean view. The ocean view is a bit of a stretch since there were several other units between us and the ocean, but we could see slivers of it (we were in building 11). Our room was huge and the bed and bathroom were extremely comfortable. There are three large pools on the property which we never used but were quite popular. We chose to spend our days on the beach. The beach had numerous cabanas available and I initially thought they would give a crowded feeling but they are spaced far enough apart that we didn’t feel crowded at all, and in fact had a feeling of privacy. The water was amazing and there were several jetties just offshore to break the waves to provide a gentle swimming experience. My wife doesn’t like ocean swimming if there is “stuff on the bottom “, but this little bay had a beautiful sand bottom and no seaweed except around the jetties. For myself the snorkeling around the jetties was great with lots of fish to observe. The staff at the Marriott were outstanding and when my wife had a medical issue come up they were amazing. They worked very hard to accommodate her issue and make our stay a memorable experience. I highly recommend the Marriott and we plan to return in the future.
