I booked this hotel for 4 nights for a wedding and due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the wedding and my flight were cancelled This resort didn’t give me my money back or credit for a future stay. They will NOT return any of my calls or emails. Terrible communication and customer service. Have been trying to get this resolved since MARCH and it is now MAY. Completely unprofessional... spend your money ANYWHERE else.
The hotel was amazing - the food, the staff, the beach, the pools, the vicinity, the location, the distance from the airport. We spent New Years at the hotel and had an incredible time. Absolutely zero complaints.
Matthew's Hospitality #1
We stayed at the Wild Orchid side of Secrets this past January and a familiar and friendly face made the trip more pleasant. Greeted everyday by Matthew added that special and personal touch to our vacation. Matthew remembers everyones name and goes out of his way to accommodate your needs and desires. He makes that extra effort to make your vacation more relaxing and fun. While the staff at the resort performed their functions, Matthew does it as a friend and always with a smile. Thank you Matthew for a job well done!
not worth the money
I wanted to write a review on the trip that I took in November for my friends "buddy moon". To clarify they wanted to have their closest friends and family on their most intimate vacation as a couple because they wanted the most important people in their lives to be there as a part of one of the most memorable moments/vacations of their lives. Thinking they had picked the most budget worthy/highest class resort on the island, Secrets Wild Orchid sure proved the entire group wrong. The resort was “nice”, at best, I’ve stayed at less expensive resorts that were worthy of much more compared to this establishment, but they were also in different areas, not Jamaica. I was extremely excited for this vacation based upon previous experiences at all inclusive resorts. I had high hopes, especially since it was adults only... It was such a let d own. When I arrived I was whisked into the lobby/lobby bar area of the resort which was nothing to write home about. The bartender Nico was serving cocktails and was less than enthusiastic to be greeted with such a large group (about 25 as the rest of the group was arriving at different times because we were there as a wedding/honeymoon group on different flights), we ordered champagne as a celebratory cocktail for the newlyweds. About thirty minutes later we eventually received our room keys and all settled into our rooms. We decided to meet back at the lobby bar, where we were then told we were no longer allowed any more champagne because "they didnt have anymore". At an all inlcusive resort you wouldn't think that this would be an issue(also not the last time you'll hear this). I paid for ocean front room, the 5th floor, with a barely functioning Ac unit. The room was so hot for most of the stay and the power went out at least twice a day which disabled the fan, our only saving grace from the heat (especially at night when I’d wake up in a sweat due to the lack of air and circulation) which made for a very uncomfortable stay. We made the best of it because we didn’t want to complain while on vacation with our friends who were recently married. While we were there we experienced extremely rude employees who didn’t want to be bothered by the slightest question. Forget about ordering room service because it takes at least three hours for every order and by that time the food arrives cold/inedible and your server who enters your room will overstep their boundaries and ask for a tip or for cigarettes. The pool is okay, the beach is okay, and the pool with the swim up bar isnt worth the hassle or wait. The provided activities by the pool and beach are a let down. The restaurants are sub par. The best thing you will eat is the jerk chicken from the cart that circles the resorts then parks outside of the world cafe until 2am. The nightlife is non existent. The club Dj plays the same music every night and refuses requests, all of the music he plays is outdated early 2000s hip hop, such as 50 cent “in da club”, what a joke. The club bartenders also judge you based on the tips you give them. As a group of 3 we ordered three jim beam and gingers, twice within an hour and the bartenders response was "again?" after we tipped him well the first time. The piano bar repeats the same songs each night. Its also very upsetting to be denied from drinks throughout the whole trip because they think you over order when one person is ordering for the three hotel guests at the same time. Overall I’d never go back to this resort, it’s not worth the money for the experience. We asked to be contacted privately about our less than perfect experience at this resort, and almost 6 months later, we haven"t been contacted. This resort clearly doesn't care about the experience the guests receive and would rather pretend everything is perfect when it's not. My advice would be to book a different resort.
Fortunately we completed our 7 day trip here just before lockdown and had a magnificent time. The resort consists of several neighbouring hotel buildings on a peninsular comprising two hotels and two upgraded club blocks. The shared facilities and restaurants allowed you to make use of most of the resort and have a very varied choice of food. The several restaurants were all very good for all-inclusive and the service across the whole resort was excellent. Top shelf alcohol across the complex and beautiful beaches and grounds. We had intended taking some excursions but chose to stay in and make the best of the resort. We would like to return. Thanks for a really great holiday and what a relief with the timing of this trip.
