    Not a 5 star resort anymore. Sad.

    This was my 5th trip to Iberostar Dominicana and I was impressed how this hotel downgraded from a 5 stars to maybe 3. The quality of the food, before they used to serve lobsters and good seafood fresh food and was recognized from their food quality but now they don't have a good selection of food was always the same, some meat were undercooked etc. The entertainment team before they were very professional and their show were impressive now we just saw one show on a Sunday run by profesionals. The staff are Avery friendly and they work very hard to keep up. The hotel was crowded and there was a long wait line waiting to get in, tables were not clean fast enough and the plates utensils were not clean properly. People with seafood allergies need to be very carefull because they mixed their buffet and People use the same spoon to take rice and s Fish etc. I also noticed that lobsters and shrimps are offered to some special people ?? It seems like they are running a business inside and the same things with the drinks with brand names etc. I was very disappointed and don't think will return to this hotel ever again. My husband got sick the second day, then my kids and myself. I would say that this owner is very lucky to have this people working so hard doing their best but you need to invest more in quality control and training. So sad I got to experience this 😢 Especially traveling with my family.

    Spend a little more for a much better experience

    This place just isn’t it. Where to begin….. Starters. The food just isn’t very good. Buffets have no originality and aren’t too appealing. Speciality restaurants are too difficult to get into with a decent sized group. Very little to do for younger children. The Dominicana side of the pool was very dirty and surprisingly unclean for the amount of people at both resorts. Rui place is adjacent to both resorts and ongoing construction can get loud. Poor couple had a wedding on the beach and all we could hear is jack hammering going on. Ocean is not clear in this area as well. Not sure how the rest of area/country is in this regards but if you are looking for that crystal blue water, once again not the place to be. Let’s get to the room issues. Dominicana is out dated. Rooms are basic. Air conditioner seemed to run the entirety of my 5 day stay. Also, no less than 5 times my room key decided to not work at my room. Each time, back to the front desk to get the card changed and here the same run down of having to keep the card away from cell phones, wallets, water, everything else under the sun. Pretty ridiculous. Especially surprised at the lack of privacy. One knock from cleaning service to directly opening the door and shouting hello within 10 seconds is poor form. Layout: Absolutely hated the layout. Reception at the very top end of the resort and some of the rooms located hundreds of meters away, any room issue is to be dealt with walking the entire way back to the reception desk. Buildings layout makes it so that almost no wind flows through the interior of the resort. I've never been to a resort/pool that felt so muggy every single day. Would assume some of the culprit is the layout and there being no real way for wind to enter through the middle of the layout. Some positives. Staff was always nice as hell to deal with, although some of the things are so damn small and repetitive that I am sure that customer service comes down when inevitably a customer blows up over some of it. Liked the bed and pillows. Sleep was good. Landscaping was immaculate. Long story short. This place seems to be faltering in a big way due to strictly management. Outdated room key cards that are constantly erroring, clean pools, properly staffed buffet and other food areas….. All fixable with the right people running it. For now, some of you may see the low price tag and think “oh well we can save a few hundred dollars, why not?”……. Trust me, until the place changes its ways, spend the extra money and go to another resort. The money will be well spent elsewhere.

    It was very good hood service everyone here was nice and friendly also helpful definitely made my summer non forgetting experience the music games and bar was excellent love everyone here would come back again with more of the family that didn’t come this time

    Currently staying here , arrived two days ago. My 4th time in Iberostar- definitely last one! This hotel did put an end to my loyalty to Iberostar chain! We came for a special occasion- my daughter’s birthday . This was meant to be her birthday surprise. We did mention this on arrival and kindly asked for nicer room. We were still placed in Dominicana side in the worst possible room despite the fact that it stated ‘ premium room ‘ on the package we have purchased. We were told by the receptionist that we should pay $500 extra for Punta Cana room which was too large and unnecessary for only 3 of us . The Room is DISGUSTING! I understand it is dated , but It is absolutely not fit for purpose and it should not have been offered to the guests in first instance. Hotel claiming for 5 stars should show some respect towards their guests and be mindful. The room is beyond dated , its mouldy, everything is rusty , I can hardly slide open the net door to the balcony. it is so humid so that the sheets and our clothes feel wet. Poor air-conditioning and ventilation. Not enough sockets. No even bedside table if you want to keep a glass of water next to your bed. We are spending our second sleepless night here. Just two days in my daughter - suffers from persisting cough , getting worse! These are only few issues from the long list. I will write complete review at the end of our stay. Needles to say that surprise is completely ruined. And a luck of empathy from the staff is disheartening. Avoid coming here at any cost! Try to go somewhere where guest’s I wellbeing and happiness is important and wishes are respected. Be sure that you will not find any support in this place if you will need it.

    UK travellers beware. Not a 5* Experience. AVOID CONCIERGE BREAKFAST AT ALL COSTS!!

    UK TRAVELLERS BEWARE Chose this hotel for our honeymoon..when we pulled up we thought we had made a great choice. Don't get lulled in by the photographs. The first issue was the receptionist initially tried to sell us a room upgrade on our honeymoon for +,$400 more saying we had a poor view and we were located on a side completely different to where our room actually was (luckily we didn't do the upgrade to find this out). The food situation is not good at all. There are a couple of restaurants where you are told to book in advance, which is fine, works well and the service is pretty good. For the rest of the restaurants it is chaos and pretty poor service substandard of a 5* property. We had people take our table at the buffet once we had been seated to come back and stand with our food while they moved... Not expected from a 5* hotel. One evening we were told the Italian restaurant was closed, although half full, for a group of 20 and another night at La Carimba- we waited an hour for a set menu!! Just generally inconsistent poor service and added stress at dinner time which was unnecessary as my wife is pregnant. We visited guest services 3 times and there were a few notes under the door to come to them before we started getting any form of resolution. AVOID AVOID AVOID CONCIERGE BREAKFAST!!! Reason for low review score!! Biggest waste of time and scam going that's wastes 3 hours of your day.. we wish we had read further down in the reviews. Concierge will not leave you alone and it's all for personal gain. Put us completely off ever returning to this hotel. Compensation was only offered in tokens to spend in the expensive hotel gift shop. It was a long winded sales pitch trying to sell you something for £23,600 which you could not easily walk away from because you were golf cart buggied between hotels and places throughout, and the breakfast was poorer than the usual hotel one. We would have been better sat by the pool or on the beach relaxing for those 3 hours!! For people travelling from UK English isn't understood at a basic level throughout the hotel staff, which can be problematic at times such as in the restaurants when resolving issues, which we found strange as there were many guests from the USA. The room was ok, tired but clean. A main issue is the maids did not put the duvet into the bed sheets which we thought was very unhygienic and became annoying after the second day of doing it ourselves. The number of correct bath towels you get varies too. Again, inconsistent. I would recommend other hotel brands in the area for a more consistent experience. Will not be returning or using hotels in this chain again. I was sold a 5* stay which was substandard, 2-3* at best.
