Birthday vacation ruined!!
Birthday Vacation Ruined!!! I decided to take a chance and stay 18 days in the Bp luxury ambar despite reading a few negative reviews. It was incident after incident and a complete nightmare. The first shocking incident was when a security trespassed into our patio which is part of our personal room, in order to yell at us. He had no respect for me being underdressed, a horrible person. After this I spoke with one of the managers, Mr. Johnjairo, and he addressed the situation. After a day, I was offered by one of the guest services supervisor, Giofanny, a “complimentary” beach dinner for my husband and I I was very specific saying that it was my husbands birthday. The day came and no dinner was prepared. They forgot about it carelessly. Everything was a lie, they had given us that hope in order to keep us satisfied with the security situation, and never came through. On the day of my husbands birthday I had to rush and order some food and pay an extra $400 for a bare minimum decent dinner, since all the a la carte restaurants were booked up days in advance, and the only thing available was the buffet. it’s extremely difficult to get a reservation at the restaurants unless you book a week beforehand. The only restaurant that’s worth going to, is the hindu restaurant and the Mexican restaurant, all the rest of have a horrible quality of food and are not worth your time. Despite this, around the hotel, all is clean and being consistently sanitized. Inside of the room, the beds are hard as a rock, and the TV never worked! If you wish to watch TV you’re out of luck. If you stay in the swim up, don’t expect service to your swim up as they do in other resorts. Regarding employees, in the morning they are very rude and won’t even say good morning. However, many good employees include Ageda the housekeeper, and Gabriel in the ambar buffet, and wander in the golf carts. Wander was the best employee taking us from place to place, we’ll miss him! He was wander-ful :). Overall, it is not my first option when considering a vacation. A very nice resort but definitely not 5 stars, they can definitely do a lot better with staff and management.
All in all we were very happy with our stay. We would have liked to see a bit more control when it came to wearing masks at the buffet. We saw many people not wearing masks and staff who didn't address it. I realize that it was our own choice traveling amid the pandemic, however we were assured that that there was a strict mask rule at Ambar.
Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar
Wonderful time for my wife's birthday and our 40th anniversary. Clean and neat. Excellent upkeep. Room service was excellent and the bar right on point. Restaurant M.E.A.T. was exceptional . Will be back
It's got more potential
First, I have to say that me and my husband went and we are part of the BP Priviledge Club, so it might be different for most of the guests. However, as a member of the priviledge club, we are entitled to premium drinks, and discounts throughout the BP hotels. Because of Covid, I understand that things are pretty limited considering that probably half or less people are staying on the premises. However, we were not able to enjoy much of those privileges. It was very hard to use to enjoy a nice Martini unless it was a the priviledge club lounge. They also did not have or did not know how to make all the drinks we asked for. Second, I have to congratulate Bahia Principe Hotels for all the precautions they are taking due to Covid. It is wonderful, truly. They require masks on public areas, they clean/ disinfect all the seats and tables before use and have labels to let the guests know when the areas are clean. They also have hand sanitizer all over the place for anyone to use. They would not let you in restaurants unless you wear a mask and have disinfected your hands. Third, everyone is super friendly; always willing to help, smiling and in a great mood. Hard working employees all over. Fourth, during our stay, not all the restaurants were open. We were only able to reserve at the Greek, Indian Restaurant, The Palmyra buffet and on our fourth night were able to enjoy the M.E.A.T restaurant that to my opinion was the best one of all. The greek was also very good but the meat was better. Again, I will give them the benefit of the doubt for being limited due to covid, but they have more potential when it comes to the food & restaurants. I was hoping there was more variety and freshness in the buffet. More original dishes from the DR itself. I never saw any characteristic dishes from the DR such as mofongo, mangu, sancocho or asopao for instance. I think that their foods are more focused to Americans, not even Europeans. Although, I do not consider that a bad thing, I believe that when you visit a country you want to get to know their food and such. Fifth, their shows at night are spectacular ! They are incredible. You can see they put a lot of work on their performances and I really applaude when employees enjoy what they do and put effort in things. I dont want to write a thousand words, So after all, I would say that our stay was very good. We had a Swim-up room and were extremely pleased. However I was expecting more from their foods & drinks. We would give it another try though. !
Exceeded our exportations every year
All staff were very caring to our needs to a level I was not used to. Food was excellent, all safety protocols were in place at all times. Perfectly safe for families, friends etc.. Privilege Club is the best option to use. Simple put a one in a life time experience.
