Small but mighty! An enjoyable weekend!

We just returned from 4 days at the Occidental. A last minute quick all inclusive getaway that priced less expensive than hotel only in the FL Keys! The staff is above average in customer service, friendly greetings and remembering your preferences. There are 2 main bars: beach and lobby (at the edge of the pool). These workers hustle all day. They truly appreciate tips! Modelo on tap, Absolut Citron and Sky as vodka options. Plenty of Tajín to rim any Margarita! Your margs, daqs and pinas are old school blended in a blender. No slushy machines here!Great stools around the beach bar when you need a sun break too. They will happily refill your insulated cups! The beach is small but enjoyable. Plenty of chairs and only a few vendors pass by daily. The coco fresco man will open it up for you on the spot $8 usd. There are a couple feet of minimal small rocks when entering, we didn’t have water shoes and did fine. But after that, the water is clear and about 5’ deep. Wonderful if you have kids or don’t like rough waves. A couple of fish swam by and one baby puffer. Enjoy the day watching the ferries and yachts! There are palm trees but no palapas as so bring a sun hat! Little bit of floating in seaweed but they had a “guy for that” and cleared it right up. Our check in was a breeze, room was ready at 10 am and we randomly got an ocean view, from the side but that was a win. Location is prime if you plan on taking the Xcaret ferry or doing the pirate dinner cruise as you can walk vs 2 hours of transport. Food was average for a resort. Breakfast had 2 locations, full buffet with the omelette station and a second without. Always fresh fruit, French toast, chilaquiles! Lunch and dinner at the buffet had plenty to offer as well. We ate at the Mexican and it was very good. Try the soft serve ice cream! Snack bar above reception is open 24 hours as well with everything from coffee, soda, juices, pizza, desserts & warm snack foods. We didn’t use the pool but it was a nice size and never appeared overcrowded. All the activities happen up there. If you’re traveling with kids, this pool is open late for the enjoyment of everyone. The room was spacious and comfortable. Plenty of hot water, mini fridge full of Corona, water and Pepsi. We always left a note, with a gracias tip if we needed more of anything. Beds and pillows were comfortable as well. Hair dryer mounted with a shampoo and body wash dispenser. No wash cloths so bring disposable face wipes instead.

    Amazing staff, great resort

I booked directly on their site for a very good deal. For the price I paid, the resort met every expectation. There was a small beach and it was very clean, there were always chairs available to use. By the pool area, there was always someone going back and forth getting drinks, she was amazing and very friendly. The rooms were fine, no complains. The fridge was always restocked with beers, water and soda. I checked in to my room with a welcoming champagne. There is a 24hr snack bar which was great. I was able to get something to eat there before my early excursion, since I was leaving before breakfast at the buffet starts. Their buffet restaurant is right on the beach and it was amazing to have breakfast with a nice view. Food wasn’t bad. I wasn’t sure how to make reservations at the other restaurants so I stayed there, which was fine because everyday was a different theme cuisine. I wasn’t aware that the resort was right next to the ferry terminal till a staff told me. That was super helpful because I got to visit Isla Mujeres. There was also a ride/tour included with your ferry ticket to see the Cancun island which was so informative and fun while you wait for the ferry. All the staff were super helpful and friendly. I would definitely come again.

Amazing time great service and staff. Food was good too.

Came to occidental costa Cancun to celebrate my birthday. Chill trip with the family. Had an amazing time with the great service and attention to details the staff and Cesar Torres gave me. Which made my stay memorable. 5 stars

A wonderful visit to Mexico lindo restaurant

We visited one of the restaurants in the hotel, México Lindo. The food was extremely tasty and plenty of it. Antonio was our waiter at the Mexican restaurant and he was fabulous, efficient and friendly. Would definitely recommend!
