  An Unforgettable 80th Birthday Celebration – Outstanding Service & Heart

  We stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel Puerto Vallarta from December 23 to December 30, 2025, to celebrate my dad’s 80th birthday, and our experience was truly memorable. Our group included three families (10 people total) - my family, my brother’s family, and my parents. From the moment we arrived, the Hard Rock team went out of their way to make this celebration special. To start, the hotel graciously arranged our rooms close together, which made everything more convenient and enjoyable for our group. As a complete surprise, they also decorated my dad’s room with a special birthday message, which genuinely touched him and set the tone for the entire trip. The service throughout our stay was outstanding. Because we were a group of 10, the staff consistently arranged large tables for us at dinner, allowing us to dine together every night, something that is not easy to accommodate at most resorts. The Christmas Eve and Christmas Day dinners, held in the hotel’s ballroom, were absolutely fantastic. Once again, they ensured we were seated together, which made these holiday meals feel extra special. A huge shout-out to: • Oscar, Captain at Frida Restaurant • Juan, Captain at Ciao Italian Restaurant These two went above and beyond every single time. Frida and Ciao quickly became our favourite restaurants on the resort, not only for the food, but because of the care and attention Oscar and Juan showed our family. Oscar even created a custom drink for us one evening at Frida - a delicious mix of hazelnut, ice cream, tequila, and some secret ingredients. It was amazing. Another very special moment came thanks to the Concierge Team. We wanted to surprise my dad with a birthday cake during dinner at Ciao, and Josue from Concierge coordinated everything perfectly. He had a custom cake made and worked with Juan to arrange a surprise presentation during dinner. When the cake was brought out, the staff gathered and sang “Happy Birthday” to my dad, creating an incredibly emotional moment. My dad was absolutely speechless - it was a memory our entire family will cherish forever. What really stood out was that every single staff member we encountered, without exception, greeted us with a smile and asked if we needed anything. The pool staff and entertainment team were energetic and engaging, keeping guests entertained throughout the day. Special thanks to Alex and Charlie at the pool, who went out of their way to help my parents secure lounge chairs, even when most chairs were already taken early in the morning. We also experienced a small incident where my daughter stepped on broken glass near the pool and cut her foot. While she was understandably upset, we were incredibly impressed by the response. A lifeguard arrived immediately with a first aid kit, cleaned the wound, and applied a bandage. Moments later, a senior staff member named Claudia came by personally to ensure everything was okay. The cut was minor, but the speed, professionalism, and genuine concern shown was something we rarely see even in the U.S. or Canada. We would also like to commend the housekeeping and room service teams. Each day, after returning from the pool and beach, our rooms were spotlessly clean and beautifully tidied. In the evenings, whenever we ordered late-night snacks, room service was fast, efficient, and reliable, which was greatly appreciated by our group. In addition, a small but very telling detail: the bathrooms in all common areas - lobby, pool areas, and restaurants - were consistently clean and well maintained throughout our stay. It was clear that staff were always on top of this, and it did not go unnoticed. Shout-outs as well to the towel staff — Alma and Cristy, who were always smiling, friendly, and engaging. Israel, who works at the resort entrance, was also fantastic as he helped us arrange transportation when we went into town one day and ensured our airport taxi was smoothly arranged on departure day, making our checkout completely stress-free. One thing we really appreciated is that this is not a massive resort. It’s the perfect size - easy to get around, yet packed with amenities you’d expect from a much larger property. The resort offers: • 5 restaurants • A café • Poolside wood-fired pizza ovens • Another poolside spot for fresh burgers, hot-dogs, and fries • A fitness centre • A lively bar with pool tables, dance floor, and outdoor seating • Kids Club • Teens Club (which our boys loved for gaming) • Outdoor ping-pong tables And the beach is incredible - wide, beautiful, and directly accessible from the pool area. Boogie boards and kayaks are included, and the ocean was calm, which is one of the reasons we prefer the Puerto Vallarta side of Mexico. Our kids had an absolute blast boogie boarding every day. I also took advantage of the spa and did a hydrotherapy session, which after using my resort credits only cost $18 and was well worth it. The spa is smaller, but very clean and well maintained. I enjoyed the infrared sauna, steam room, and cold plunge, and left feeling completely refreshed. Constructive Feedback: If I were to offer constructive criticism, it would mainly be related to the rooms and fitness centre. Our group had three rooms, and while the staff was very responsive, our room experienced ongoing bathroom issues. The toilet struggled to flush properly due to low pressure (not user-related), and we had to call maintenance almost daily. The sink also drained very slowly. While staff always fixed the issues quickly, the rooms are clearly older and showing their age, which was a bit disappointing. This was the main reason for me to give this a 4 star as otherwise, my rating would have definitely been a 5 star. The fitness centre could also use improvement. It is quite small and tight, and during busier times it was difficult to move around. There are only three treadmills, so unless you go very early or late, access can be limited. The equipment is also somewhat dated. That said, these issues were far outweighed by the incredible staff, amenities, and overall experience. Final Thoughts: While this resort is a bit older and could benefit from some upgrades, the location, amenities, and - most importantly - the people make it a fantastic place to stay. We truly loved our vacation and would highly recommend the Hard Rock Hotel Puerto Vallarta, especially for families and special celebrations. We also heard from staff that the resort is scheduled for a major renovation this summer, including room upgrades. If that’s the case, this place is going to absolutely rock as it already has everything else going for it.   Want for nothing in Elizabeth’s care!

  Elizabeth, the cocktail server by the pool, was amazing! No matter our need, be it a lounge chair or special cocktail, she was on top of it!!!! Fabulous!!! The bartender was wonderful too!!!

  Great service!

  Elizabeth was amazing!!! Very attentive and great service. We saw her for breakfast and then out at the pool and we looked forward to seeing her everyday! Can’t wait to come back!
