Great Experience!!!!
We stayed there between June 21st-28th. After an issue with our room, the vacation was awesome! I give the staff the highest marks! Everyone was helpful and friendly! The food was excellent and the drinks were first class! The room issue was resolved, so I don't hold that against them. I would come back!!!!

I canceled this service due to a series of unacceptable issues that made the experience completely frustrating and unprofessional. From the moment I arrived at the property on June 29, 2025, it was clear that the listing on Expedia was highly misleading. The photos and descriptions did not match the actual resort, which was run-down and in poor condition. The front desk staff were extremely rude and dismissive. Rather than offering a warm welcome, they immediately charged my card—despite the policy indicating payment would be processed after checkout. This felt deceptive and inconsiderate. The room itself was in terrible shape. I was shocked to find blood stains on the couch, which was unsanitary and unacceptable. The plumbing was also poor—there was very low water pressure, making it nearly impossible to bathe comfortably. Basic amenities were lacking, and any request for assistance was either ignored or met with attitude. When I contacted the front desk to ask for help or a potential room change, the manager was completely unhelpful. He refused to take accountability and told me no refund would be issued and that I would have to deal with the situation myself. Given the lack of cleanliness, poor customer service, and misleading advertising, I could not justify staying even one night. I canceled the service immediately and found alternate accommodations. No guest should have to experience such negligence and disrespect. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this property to anyone.

Awfulalonia
Honestly, me and my mom been going to this place for years now. This is our 3rd visit and I'm not surprised at how bad this place has gotten. 1. The food is TERRIBLE, Its literally made to serve only white people. The eggs are watered down, majority of the food tastes awful except the actual jamaican food they have (which is barely considering this place is in JAMAICA) Eating the food made me homesick and miss not having to choke down food that has no culture or no love. 2. The dining is also bad, i literally saw roaches near me searching for food. I love cats but it makes me uncomfortable when they stare at me for long periods of time and go under my legs to search for food. Other than that the waiters are nice and the service is good. 3. Room service is actually pretty decent, beds are nice and clean. No bugs and our maid Sandra did a wonderful job at cleaning. 4. Besides the horrid slop they make at the dining area, the food bar next to the pool is really amazing. I always go there for burger and fries. And the icecream is great. After realizing things, Catalonia is just a really basic resort and not really that enjoyable.

Appreciation
Upon arrival, I was greeted by Gabrielle at the front desk. She accomodated my requests for a room in Block 1, as it was my 3rd visit.Room service was exceptional throughout my stay, thanks to Shamai. On Saturday I had supper at the Japonese Resto. Kevin, the cook, was exceptionally funny, which made the experience very nice and entertaining. I tried the Italien resto the food was acceptable. The hostess, Kerrian, was helpful with the choice of meal. Due to the many renovations ongoing at the resort, there was a shortage of staff in several areas. At the Buffet, Marsha, Priscilla, Natalee, only to name a few, were always very friendly and polite. The staff preparing the meals were very professional. A special note to Kenisha who was always cheerful and polite, notwithstanding the heat in that area. I understand that because of the last Hurricane, there was a shortage of fresh fruits. I met the employees of the Marketing Group, namely Peta-Gaye and her supervisor, Marcia. Very nice ladies, attentive to your requests. Again, I enjoyed my stay and I will consider coming back for a 4th visit. Thanks to your team.

CATalonia
I stayed at the Catalonia hotel with 16 other family members, and not ONE of us would ever stay there again or recommend the hotel to anyone. While the ground staff are very pleasant and helpful, the middle and upper management of the hotel is very poor. Myself and my husband had to change rooms due to lack of warm water in the shower, and several of my family members had to change rooms, some multiple times, due to lack of warm water in the bathroom, and a mouldy smell due to lack of ventilation in the bedrooms. When a plumber was called to 'fix' these issues, he would share that he comes to these rooms frequently, and management are aware of the issues but yet keep placing customers in those rooms, perhaps hoping that they won't bother to complain and change rooms. These issues were particularly concentrated in and widespread throughout Block 4. My family members were constantly going to the front desk due to issues with their rooms, and myself, my husband and my mum spent (wasted) much time arguing with the front desk because bottled water was repeatedly never put in our fridge, even though this was agreed to as compensation for having to change rooms. The CATalonia hotel has many stray cats roaming around, and when we were eating in some of the hotel's restaurants they would jump onto adjacent tables and crawl around your legs looking for food. This made eating in their restaurants very uncomfortable. I also saw one toying with a mouse. Even if you are a cat lover, you don't want stray cats all around when you are trying to enjoy your holiday. Overall I would recommend that you don't waste your money at this hotel. When we all booked it was the Holiday Inn Resort, and between booking and flying out, ownership changed to the Catalonia and it was evident that the conditions of the hotel considerably declined from there. It was too late by then for any of us to change our booking without paying £100s. It was a disappointing start to mine and my husband's honeymoon, and the fact that I'm writing this review months after staying there shows just how memorable our stay there was, for the wrong reasons.
