Prepare to be pampered and enjoy the sweet life at the Sugar Bay Resort and Spa on St. Thomas. Resting on a mountainside, the Sugar Bay Resort & Spa boasts spectacular views of the Caribbean Ocean and neighboring islands. This island getaway strikes the perfect balance between its spa, Journeys, which was voted one of the best in the Caribbean; and Kids Klub, a childhood dream brought to imaginative life. This was our first time using Cheap Caribbean, and I can't say enough good things about our experience. The food was great, the service was great and just everything about our trip was GREAT. We will be doing another trip like this again ASAP. My wife and I highly recommend using Cheap Caribbean for all of your travel. We were in PARADISE !!!!!
Have been to St Thomas multiple times and the past 3 trips we stayed st Sugar Bay. I absolutely LOVE this hotel....from the location, the service, the food, it is great. This past trip (April 28-May 5)we did the all inclusive which was a great deal. All food and alcohol included, food choices were good, food was excellent. I would def do it again. Love the pool area and the vicinity to the beach. The views are amazing! They could spruce up some of the guest rooms...getting a bit dated lookiing but other than that no complaints.
Vacationing at the Sugar Bay Resort and Spa on St. Thomas was absolutely a dream come true! There wasn't a single moment of boredom while staying at this beautiful, all inclusive resort. We originally had plans of site seeing around St. Thomas and St. John until we discovered how many activities Sugar Bay offered daily. The resort staff, as well as the parasailing staff (Alex and Tyler), were very polite and accommodating which made this amazing island even more appealing. Traveling to the USVI was a trip of a lifetime and we can't wait to go back! Our trip went off without a hitch therefore; we are encouraging all of our family and friends to go too. Thank you Cheap Caribbean for this unforgettable experience!!!

We have a current 4.1 out of 5 rating for the resort. Trip Advisor also gives it good reviews. Who said the food isn't good? It has been an all inclusive since the summer and I sent my Aunt there and she loved it. Hope she didn't lie to me about the food! :)
CaribbeanJim
We just returned from there last week. The food was delicious however there were only like 5 options in each category for every meal. The Manor House had several buffet nights that were extremely good. The food was delicious and I would not call it scarce at all ~ we were only there 6 days and did say if we were staying longer that we would've run out of things to try but definitley good and worth it for that long of a stay.
Silver86
No idea why there are bad reveiws .WE LOVED IT . Plenty of food served in 5 different resturants thru out the day .Put it this way , I gained 8 lbs in a week ! There was never a time in the day you could get some food.

Debbie, my husband and I just got back. You will love it. I read some of the reviews after I had also booked, and was a little leery, but the place is magnificent. Is it the Ritz? No. But for the great price, it's really a wonderful deal. The people are so pleasant and accommodating. Go and enjoy!! If Reynaldo or Mia are at the front desk, they are incredibly gracious and helpful. They'll take great care of you! Have a great time!!! I think you can read my entire review and I never usually take the time to do such an extensive review. Also, the food is VERY fresh, tons of it, plenty of fruit and fresh fish, the breakfast is fantastic. Again, I don't know what you're looking for, but my husband and I are foodies, and we were VERY happy with their food. Better than any cruise we've ever been on too!

The food was very good, and was always available. We never had any trouble getting anythng to eat when we were hungry. Pimentos was our favorite, they had jerk chicken and mahi mahi. The resort was just great, I wouldn't worry!!

Debbie- I hope you havent gone to St Thomas yet. I dont know who could possibly say that the food was horrible or scarce. There are 5 restaurants and an after hours place. (in the bar area) The person who wrote this must not have gone to the Manor Restaurant up in the lobby area. Made to order omelets for breakfast, plus all your "normal" choices and then some. They do NOT serve lunch there and for dinner there is a set menu and then on some nights buffet that always offers chicken, beef and fish dish. Dessert, dessert, dessert. Poolside there is a buffet for all 3 meals, plus a grill menu of "american" fare plus Plimentos that serves jerk chicken, pork.fish. There is also an italian restaurant that you have to make reservations for. The food was WONDERFUL and trust me I LOVE FOOD. You will not be sorry.
Mocq
The food was excellent in quality and quantity. There are separate dining areas inside the hotel and open-air down by the pool. There is variety in the menu with different choices at every meal.
Traveler215
there are 7 restaurants, food all day, plenty of options from 6am-midnight. no room service but you can order food and they will cover it when you pick it up. food is not gourmet but coming from an etnic city with lots odf variety i found the food better than average.
illeteu
Food is really good especially for an all-inclusive.
pepc1
We did not do the all-inclusive and we should have. Food & drinks are a little pricey!! We thought the food was fine.

What is the weather like in October in St. Thomas?5 answers

We were there end of Aug, the beginning of their hurricane season. Everything was less crowded being in the off season. Our weather stations said it would rain everyday in St Thomas, but on arrival it was beautiful. I'm not sure, but flights might be a hassle if you get delayed because of a hurricane. Wasn't there in October, so can't be sure.
CaliGoldRush
The average weather in St. Thomas in October is high 90 to low 70 degrees. It is also averaged to be the wettest month for St. Thomas.
DanielleCC
It was in the high 80s when we were there. We did have rain, but tropical storm Maria just went through
marriaaa22
We just spent Oct 7-Oct 12 2011 in St. Thomas at Sugar Bay Resort & Spa. Was in high 80's during day and mid 70"s in evening. We had a very quick 3 minute shower. Weather was great.
Jleejoe
The weather was very nice. Upper 80s during the day and upper 70s at night. A little humid but there was always a breeze.

are airport transfers included? How far is resort from airport?5 answers
2 months ago
maine
Round-trip airport transfers are not included in the pricing of the resort, but they can be added onto your vacation package for an additional cost. The resort is a scenic eight-mile, 30-minute drive from the St. Thomas International Airport and downtown Charlotte Amalie; 15 minutes by ferry to St. John from the Red Hook Ferry Terminal.
KristinCC
The resort is about 25 to 30 minutes from the airport. We booked the airline transfers thru cheap carribean but could have taken a taxi MUCH cheaper and there were a ton of them at the airport.
carolinafamily
you pay extra for round trip transfer ( but worth it ) and it takes about a half an hour to get to the resort from airport
AJMvp
airport transfers are NOT included and the resort is about 25 min from airport. It depends on traffic
PMiller1968
airport is about a 30 minute ride. plenty of taxis available..cost is about $15 per person with bags

What excursions would you suggest?

Michigan
There are nearby markets requiring about a 10 minute drive from the resort. The concierge at the resort can often suggest the best priced and closest shopping options.
ccsusan1
we would def. suggest taking the open air bus at the end of the driveway and across the street to town or wherever else you want to go. It is 2 dollars and will go to the same places taxi's go to for a fraction of the cost. Best day trip was to St John's we took the bus from the hotes and the ferry 12 round trip and spent the day at Trunk's Bay-the most beautiful beach I have ever been too . Meagans Bay is also a great day trip
PMiller1968
no stores within walking distance but a short taxi ride to Red Hook there are stores. If you do the all inclusive you really don't need anything else. Hotel has a gift shop but a little pricey too

The best part of the Sugar Bay Resort & Spa, besides all inclusive deals, has to be the award-winning Journeys, the resort's luxurious spa. The extra moolah required is worth it.
What We'd Change
Though the mountainside resort gives us great views, it's a bit of a trek from the lobby to the beach. That's why we love the shuttle that runs every 15 minutes.
Why You Should Go
There's a little something for everyone. Between Journeys for adults and Kids Klub for the little ones, everyone is satisfied.

Sugar Bay Resort & Spa: the Best of Both Worlds
Prepare to be pampered and enjoy the sweet life at the Sugar Bay Resort and Spa on St. Thomas. Resting on a mountainside, the Sugar Bay Resort & Spa boasts spectacular views of the Caribbean Ocean and neighboring islands. This island getaway strikes the perfect balance between its spa, Journeys, which was voted one of the best in the Caribbean; and Kids Klub, a childhood dream brought to imaginative life. While you indulge in an exotic Fijian Scalp Massage, the kids can feed iguanas and hunt treasure to their hearts' content.
What better way to really enjoy that R and R than soaking up rays on the resort's secluded beach or getting playful in one of three freshwater pools? After a frolic under the waterfall, you can quench your thirst with a mai tai at the poolside Turtle Rock Sports Bar and Grill. When you're hungry, choose Italian fare at the Ristoranti Baci or spirited Mediterranean-Caribbean fusion at the Manor House. The diversity of flavors leaves no palate unsatisfied.
Don't forget the Sugar Bay Resort and Spa all-inclusive perks that sweeten the deal: tennis and water sports take the fun up a notch while letting in the island sunshine. The Mahogany Run Golf Course, designed by George and Tom Fazio, offers a full 18-hole course that boasts the ultra-challenging "Devil's Triangle," three holes so difficult, you'll swear some devilry's involved! Care to splurge? Shop in Charlotte Amalie for island trinkets. If you'd rather commune with nature, take an eco-tour to a neighboring island.
It's easy to find your personal haven in one of 294 guestrooms at Sugar Bay Resort & Spa. With Balinese-style interiors and panoramic views, slipping between the sheets for a restful sleep in the Ocean View All-Inclusive room is the perfect way to finish a lazy, mellow day of spoiling yourself at the spa.
