Disapointed

When we first arrived, we were put in room 224 on 7/1/2017. On Monday 7/3//2017 the air conditioning died, we spoke with management and they told us they had fixed it. That night around 10 pm the air conditioner died again, they put us In the room next door 225 for the rest of the night. The next day 7/4/2017 they assured us it was fixed again. The first time they said it was a fuse. When we told them that it was not working, they did offer us another room, but it was not of equal value, it was a room that was not what we had. Room 224 was nice and comfortable. I told the person I wanted a room just like we had or better, he said they did not have one. I told him we should have one that was better then the room they offered us. I paid a lot for this trip and I booked a premium room, we had to stay in one that I thought was awful. Room 117 - they offered us room 225 or 223 but they were the same as room 117. Since. We could not stay in room 224 and they did not offer a better room, we stayed in room 117 for the rest. Of our vacation. On Thursday, 7/6/2017 the management said we could move to a different room if we wanted to, but I did not want to pack up our clothes again, because we were leaving on7/8/2017. I would not stay there again if we were to ever go back to St. Thomas. The beach was nice. The pool was not very clean, they had bugs and leaves floating in the water. The maid did not do a good job of cleaning the room, we even had to call and request that the maid come and clean the room on 7/5/2017.

Great Bang for the Buck!

Nice resort and grounds. The restaurants and bars have a nice atmosphere, and they have plenty of activities from beach toys (catamarans, kayaks, snorkel/scuba, volleyball, etc.) to bar games (darts, pool, corn hole). Convenient location with short cab ride away from Red Hook, Charlotte Amalie and the airport. Drinks/food are great and staff is friendly/helpful. The only downers: Some of the rooms, while clean, are a little tired and in need of renovation. Parts of the property suffer from minor deferred maintenance (although, not unsightly or uncommon in the Caribbean). The beach is sandy, but once entering the water, the bottom in most places is rocky . . . enter slowly or with water shoes. All in all, we had a great time and would stay again!

We went to St. Thomas for a wedding and a long weekend, we picked this place because we just basically needed somewhere to get dressed and lay our heads. The room was seriously dated, the fridge was rusty and we had no hot water; when we brought this to the attention of the front desk clerk he sent someone to fix it straight away. The beach was full of rocks so there was no swimming to be done in the sea, the pool was very small too. The Bolongo Bay Beach Resort is very reasonably priced for food and drinks, they offer a really good breakfast. This isn't the best resort, but it's cheap. If you want to leave the resort I suggest hiring a car, we were there for 4 days and we spent over $400 on cabs, you cannot walk anywhere on the island.

great vacation

Amazing place to stay. Only negative (and granted im being incredibly picky) showers were tiny. But everything else was fantastic.

What's to Love

I love being just steps away from the beach, plus the resort is very family friendly and it's not too big. It was perfect getting to know the staff well and other guests!

What We'd Change

You'll need to take a cab to check out other restaurants, but when the food is so great at the resort, why bother?

Why You Should Go

With tons of free water activities to keep the everyone busy, a friendly vibe and a cozy atmosphere, Bolongo Bay is a real deal.

Hotel Description

Bolongo Bay Beach Resort: Discover A Hidden Caribbean Treasure

Family owned and operated since 1974 by the Doumengs, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort's small, friendly atmosphere offers a vacation that seems like home. We're not the only ones who think the Doumengs are doing it right. Richard Doumeng, Managing Director, was awarded the "Golden Conch" Caribbean Hotelier of the Year Award by the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association.

Located on a 1,000-ft stretch of golden sand, Bolongo Bay Beach Resort redefines the word "beachfront." Relax by the beach or check out the freshwater pool and its swim-up bar. After you've worked up an appetite, two open-air restaurants draw you in: lobster specialties are a hit at The Lobster Grille, and we hear conch fritters at Iggies Beach Bar and Grill are delish. Iggies hosts lots of fun nightly entertainment, so be sure to check it out if you're up for some night time fun.

Whether you're hanging out at the beach or seeing the sights, there are tons of things to do during the day. Start a game of beach volleyball, or challenge the kids to paddleboat races. Try parasailing, or book a snorkel or scuba excursion to see the underwater world. Day trips are popular with St. John, St. Croix and the British Virgin Islands so close, but St. Thomas also has great appeal: Paradise Point has unforgettable views, the shoreline is beautiful from Magens Bay and kids love feeding stingrays at Coral World.

Since the resort is smaller and more intimate, all rooms are beachfront, so you can enjoy the Caribbean from the privacy of your balcony.

This hotel is NOT All-Inclusive. Food and drink must be purchased separately.
Unless otherwise specified, all services are available for an additional charge.
