Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina = Horrible
We have toured the whole U.S. Virgin Island. We have determined that Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina probably has one of the best beaches and views of the island, however, the management of the resort can be call nothing short of "Horrible".
I have never stayed at a place where when you walked in, half of the light bulbs did not work. The remote control of the TV did not work. The room smelled old and musty. The room is not very clean. I often felt that there were bugs on the couch. The view from the room is breath taking and it is a beach resort but it took us 4-5 trips to the office to get some beach towels. There is no lobby for the Resort, just a small room used as its office. The people at the desk simply did not care. We found out on our last day that the owner and the management company had some conflicts and it was agreed to let the hotel rot. And rot it did. The resort looks semi-decent from the front but looking at it from the back, you will be shocked. It looks grey and run down from the back.
It is a shame.
Sapphire Beach room views are worth the stay. The condo was recently renovated. Waking each day to the white sand and blue water was so relaxing. Sapphire is the place to be for rest and relaxation.
We were upgraded to a beachfront room and it was beautiful! Everything went smoothly and I will definitely use CheapCarribean in the future for great deals on vacations!
I would recommend the beachfront rooms on the bottom floor- it would be well worth it to pay extra.
To avoid the cruise ship crowds you can day trip the the other islands.
Amazing!

I had low expectations....
I made my travel plans at the last minute and did not have huge expectations for this resort. Unfortunately, my expectations were met. The resort is very rundown and reminded me of Gilligan's island. There were none of the usual comforts that you grow accustomed to when traveling to the carribean. No coffee in the rooms, no onsite place to dine. No ice machines. I had to take a taxi to eat.
The staff was somewhat bothered with any requests that I had. The lady that handled the breakfast "shack" refused to acknowledge you unless you said good morning to her first.
The beach was pretty. The pool was "ok". I will never go back sorry to say. I will say that the condo I stayed in F105 was well maintained. Otherwise, the trip was a bust.

Hotel Description
Ride the Wind at Antilles Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina in St. Thomas
Standing knee-deep in turquoise water, you step into the foot straps of a windsurfing rig, position the board and lift the mast. Your heart thumps excitedly as the breeze catches the sail and you zip into St. John Bay for the first time. It's just like the water center staff at Antilles Sapphire Beach Resort and Marina on St. Thomas said it would be!
Sea grape trees and palms offer shady sanctuary on the half-mile stretch of sugar-white sand known as Sapphire Beach. If you choose sun rather than shade, plop down in one of the free loungers to watch the snorkelers and windsurfers--and even the occasional duck or iguana! Overlooking the sea, and not far from you, is the resort's two-tier, quarter-acre pool.
Only five minutes by cab gets you to the Caribbean Saloon in Red Hook, where you can indulge with filet mignon broiled in a burgundy wine sauce or pan-seared rack of lamb prepared with a red wine reduction. With full kitchens in every suite at the resort, eating in is always an option, too. Just grab groceries at the Marina Market in Red Hook.
The snorkeling near Sapphire Beach Resort may be the best in St. Thomas. Turtles, rays and even squid can be found among the reefs and a shallow rocky ledge off the beach. From time to time porpoises wander into St. John Bay too! The resort provides snorkel gear as well as windsurfing equipment for free to guests. You can also rent scuba gear from the on-site PADI dive center. Sport fishing and parasailing are available at the resort marina.
Families have plenty of room to spread out in the two-floor Yacht Harbor Villa, where two full bathrooms make getting ready for the day stress-free. Just look out your window for inspiration, and then set off for adventures with an island tour booked through the Guest Services Desk. Pirates and the Caribbean go hand-in-hand, so make the most of the island's history and set up an excursion to 1679 Blackbeard's Castle Tower, built in 1679.
