Incredible Vacation!
I definitely recommend this resort! Yes there are hills that are a pain to walk up and down but there is a shuttle to drive you up and down. The views are spectacular and while Sugar Beach is small it is very private and peaceful. We did some snorkeling and saw beautiful fish at Sugar Beach. The resort is a short walk over to Coki Beach which is amazing. The room we stayed in (D-25) was very clean and had everything that we needed (including the most amazing view). The 3 pools are nice but the top one was a little dirty on the bottom but clear water. Jack's is good food at reasonable prices. They gave us a lot of food! A band plays some nights at Jack's. Make sure to get your free snorkeling gear at the activities center next to the lobby!
Hope to visit again soon! I miss St. Thomas!
The service we received was above and beyond, especially from Mike both at the waterfront and the activities center. Thank you Mike for making our vacation outstanding! The restaurants were closed which we were not made aware of prior to our trip, but the restaurants at Red Hook Mike recommended were fantastic. Great food and Great service! The rooms were absolutely beautiful with a gorgeous view. I will be staying at this resort every time I visit!
This place was the second place we stayed after the last three years staying at the marriot. This place beats it by far!! if you don't want a reosrt style and want your own privacy all day and a way to cook your own food once or twice a day go to Point Pleasant. The view is the best We've ever seen and thats in whatever room you stay in. They are large and so quite... its very relaxed and romantic. If you don't like walking dont come here though because its all walking from room to room or pool or beach or restaurants whatever outside your room. But its worth it if you want to stay in shape or tone a little while youre on vacation. The trails are also very beautiful and you see all wildlife. Right outside our balcony there were hummingbirds! Downfall is in slow season like august/ september the restaurants aren't always open till they say they are, but the food is definitely spectacular like the conch fritters, yum! Another thing is don't do the sailboat snorkling tours if you are more of a money saver because Coki beach is right across from the hotel and thats great snorkling for free, probably the best on the island. Overall we will definitely be coming back to Point Pleasant because everyones super nice and its way worth it!

You may dress as you wish, so long as you dress, both daytime and evenings, unfortunately and contrary to years ago.
Regarding daytime dress, women at the beach may go topless, if they so desire, and I have never seen any incident arising from this. You don't see much of this now days because most European guests have decided to visit other hotels. There was a time when most guests at the Riu Palace hotels in the Riviera Maya (Playa del Carmen) and Punta Cana were Europeans and thus had many topless women on the beaches. Today most guests are from the US, with a few from South America (especially at Las Americas).
Evening dress is no different from daytime, except that in the "specialty" restaurants men must wear long pants and cannot be barefooted. Women can wear anything whatsoever and may even get away with being barefooted. The days of jackets for men and long dresses for women are gone.

We wore t-shirts and shorts or capris for casual dining during the day. That's what everyone else wore. For nicer restaurants, we wore summer dresses or capris for women, and pants for men. Honestly, the dress code was pretty casual. The atmosphere on St. Thomas is very relaxed.

daytime is casual, shorts and flip flops
nightime is island dressy, slacks and a polo or button down only at one restaurant. Fungis is casual all day and night, but great food at both places.

Room Information
The location and view from these villa-style suites is one of the finest in St. Thomas. You are sure to love sitting on your private balcony, surrounded by water as far as you can see. All 128 suites feature comfortable furnishings, and great amenities, air conditioned living/dining areas, a full kitchen, phones with data-ports, and a safe. There are condo units, which are rented when their owners are not in residence.
I wish the beach area was bigger, and there are quite a few steps on the property.
Why You Should Go
The hotel offers a great condominium style product which is probably more suitable for families without small children. Downtown is 25 minutes away.
