Best trip ever

From the moment we got onto the plane, at the moment we got off the plane back home, the trip was absolutely phenomenal! The flights to and from Cancun we're both on time and got to the destination early. Transportation to and from the airport was very timely and extremely helpful. The now sapphire resort was truly one of the better resorts I've ever been to. Everyone at the hotel was so kind, and made sure they went out of their way to make our trip more enjoyable ! Fernando, Vincent and Edgar were the best!!

relaxing vacation

Beautiful resort close to Cancun. The pool was absolutely beautiful especially at night. Not much entertainment at the pool, I would have liked more games and some music. Pool water was cold but we got used to it. They had top shelf alcohol available and great bartenders. Best bartender was on the beach, Felix, lots of fun and fast with the drinks. Beach sand was amazing but the water was only OK. lots of weeds washing up because very windy 5/7 days. They did have guys on the beach all day cleaning up the weeds. Rooms were very nice and everything was only a short walk. Evening shows weren't that great but it is a small resort. Restaurants were very good. The only one we did not enjoy was the Mexican one, very slow service and poor food. I would go there again but don't expect to be entertained too much, more for relaxing.

Wonderful Experience; Great Value

My friend and I go away every March to celebrate our birthdays. This was our first time at an all inclusive. It was a wonderful experience. Check in took all of 5 mins. We had to meet with a sales associate, but as soon as we said we were absolutely not interested in listening to the sales presentation, there was no further pressure to listen. We were in a Junior suite. It was room was very large with a sitting area, large bathroom and balcony overlooking the "jungle". The jungle was nothing more than a few trees. I would request an ocean view next time. None were available during our stay. Housekeeping was very good. Room was very clean, but supplies were inconsistent; one day no hand towels; another day no face clothes, but this was quickly remedied when we called the front desk. Each night our room was decorated for our birthdays which was a nice touch. Food was very good except for the dinner buffet. Food was bland and room temperature. Breakfast buffet, the only option other than room service, was very good. We ate at Blue Water for late lunch/early dinner. Excellent. Also the French Restaurant was very good as well. If you are not a fan of eating dinner early (between 6 and 7), you will likely have a long wait. The service all around the resort was tremendous. Everyone was so helpful. Manuel, the beach waiter, was the best. He was very attentive and friendly. My friend and I got to the beach at 10AM each morning and always found chairs. The beach was filled with seaweed, but they worked tirelessly to clean it up all day long. We did not sign up for any excursions except for a shopping trip. It costs $17 round trip and takes you to Playa d Carmen at 4pm and has you back by 7:30pm. A few tips....turn down service can be as late as 10PM so if you go to bed early, be sure to put out the "Do not disturb " sign on your door. Also, beware that if you pay in US dollars for gift shop items, either in the resort or in town, your change will be in pesos. Although, tips are included in the package price, tipping for good service goes a very long way.

Bed decorated for our birthdays on our last night Shower/tub. Spacious and very clean

Loved It!

This was my first time to Now Sapphire. It is a family friendly resort, but there were few kiddos and it was very quiet and relaxed. I am 60 and went with a friend; we both loved it. The beach, food, service and entertainment were great. Two things that were a hit were no wristbands and no towel cards. The clean beach towels are laid out by the pools and beach. When finished, there are places to drop them on your way back to the room. Small things, but they made the vacation a little more stress-free. Some of the entertainment was really good. Tuesday was Mexican night with the main buffet by the pool, complete with Mariachi Band, Mayan history and dance show. Friday night they had the Three (Mexican) Tenors, and Saturday night was.the Euphoria Circus Show which had elements of gymnastics and Cirque Du Soleil. Most of the other nights featured magic and comedy acts in the theater that weren't the greatest because the sound system was quite bad and we couldn't understand what was being said. The food was wonderful. At least one night the buffet had tuna steaks that you could choose and hand to the chef to prepare to your liking, in addition to all the other (cooked) options. There may have been other raw meats there too, but the bright pink caught my eye. I really enjoyed the French, Asian, and Mediterranean choices. No reservations needed except at the teppanyaki tables in the Asian restaurant, and there were often cancellations so you might score a table without one. Drinks were good and not watered down. The service was impeccable--everyone was genuinely nice. We went the preferred route for the first time to get an ocean front room. This was my first experience with being "preferred" and I must say I really liked it! Check-in and check-out were done in an air-conditioned lounge with comfy chairs and refreshments. Francisco, Claudia and Mac were so helpful. There was also free access to two computers and a printer so I could print boarding passes before we left for the airport. There is a nice bar on the beach and a boardwalk for easier walking in the soft sand. Ivan made sure we had enough refreshments. The beach has seaweed, just like every other beach in the Mayan Riviera. They had several guys raking it by hand every day except Sunday. One day we went to the quiet pool and reserved a "Bali Bed" (free of charge) which had a nice white sheet on the bed and a thatched roof. Cesar (great bartender) and Alberto were the best. Food and restrooms are close by. Now here are all the other little things I noticed and will share to help you when you choose this resort. There are 14 buildings with 3 stories and 64 rooms in each--no elevators or handrails. If you have any physical limitations, keep these things in mind! You can request a lower floor and a building closer to the pools, restaurants, and main desk. The walkways from the rooms to restaurants and entertainment are rather dimly lit at night. My friend had a flashlight along and we did use it--felt a bit like old folks, but used it! There is no clothesline to dry swimsuits. We used a plastic twine and tied it to the metal railings on the top of the balcony wall (at an angle) and that worked well. Clothes pins were a must because of the stiff breezes. There is maid service in the AM and turn down service in the early evening. Robes were provided, but no slippers. Bathroom observations: soft water, bidet, sink area with only two plug-ins, hairdryer, a nice lighted mirror with one regular and one magnified side, and a fan! The first hotel or resort bath with a fan! It was quiet, but it did the job. Alarm clock had a USB charging port. Coffee maker, steamer (no iron), and large umbrella provided. Pillow menu with down, foam or orthopedic pillows to choose from. Room service is provided at no additional cost. We ordered a sandwich before we left for the airport to eat on the plane, and they packed a nice box lunch for both of us. There are also free land line phone calls to the USA and Canada, and free WiFi. Bottom line: a little more expensive than my usual choices, but worth it!

What's to Love

Bali beds around the pool and ocean front kiosks that give you the ultimate in rock star beach bliss.

The friendliest staff. You'll never want for a thing. (They can read drink requests in your mind).

Photo op at the main pool - the ocean view is drop-dead-gorgeous-good.

Evocative architecture and decor inspired by ancient Mayan Culture. (See? They weren't all ruffians).

Spacious Jr. Suites with cozy bathrobes, slippers, furnished balcony and 24-hour room service.

Activities for the kiddos, tweens and teens, keeping them busy (and away) for hours.

Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan menu options available at the a la carte restaurants.

What We'd Change

The restaurants open on a rotating schedule, so some may be closed on a particular evening. But the rotation means you won't get bored. For specific cravings, 24-hour room service has you covered.

Why You Should Go

It's 15 minutes from the airport - paradise is waiting for you with a welcome cocktail.

Upgrade to Preferred Club and enjoy an adults-only pool. (Kids are fun, but pool water in your drinks, not so much).

Rejuvenate with a Myoxy-Caviar Facial - it's ok to spoil yourself. You deserve it.

The world's second largest coral reef is just off the shores - snorkel envy is here & it's real.

Complimentary green fees at Grand Coral Riviera Maya Golf Course. Woot!

Spend a day at Xcaret learning about Mayan history and exploring the lagoons and parks.

Hop on a bicycle tour - a great way to see the resort and the natural beauty around you.

Starting your day with an energizing Zumba class - dance, sweat, hit the beach.
