We had a nice experience but it rained the entire trip. Our room was okay, could have been a bit cleaner but nothing to complain about. So close to the beach & the the pools were pretty! Food at koko was good & the casino was fun if you're a gambler. We ate off the resort a few times, walk to Metropol - delicious Puerto Rican food. Everyone was friendly! Swedish massage at the spa was nice & relaxing & the sauna afterwords felt great. The main negative was having to wait a couple hours for our room to be ready so we ate outside at the pool bar - not very good food & $36 for 4 beers. Walk to Walgreens & buy liquor! :) overall everything was good,
Well worth the money. Good value and nice accommodations. Service was outstanding. Negatives- slow elevators, no balcony as described and at night the party goers take over the hotel. Would stay here again
Unfortunately, the sun gods were not shining on Puerto Rico during our 5 day stay in early May. However, we still had a great vacation. The concierge at El San Juan was the best of any hotel that I have stayed at and the check-in/check-out process was seamless. I was VERY impressed with the value of what we got for the price we paid: luxurious hotel, great service, fantastic excursions. I highly recommend taking the catamaran excursion with Elegant Steering, as it was by far our best day in Puerto Rico. It was the perfect mix of sight-seeing, adventure, partying, fun, and romance, not to mention good food and awesome service. The downside to the hotel was that meals were not included in the price of our stay. There are many great dining options within the resort however they can hurt the wallet. Drink prices were also very high. I recommend trying some of the small local restaurants within walking distance and grabbing breakfast items at the grocery store to save money. We hope to make it back to Puerto Rico, and the El San Juan Resort and Casino, soon - hopefully when it isn't raining!
This was our first trip to Puerto Rico, we were so glad to have chosen the El San Juan. The resort is absolutely breathtaking, the staff was always more than happy to help, from the concierge recommending restaurants for our day in Old San Juan, to the housekeeper offering us a crib for our 1 year old right after check-in, to the doorman giving my son high-fives every time we left the hotel. The pools were fantastic, and the beach is gorgeous. The lobby at the El San Juan is truly a nightlife hotspot, but we didn't spend much time partaking in that, or in the casino. We didn't eat many meals at the on site restaurants, we ventured out for most of them. If spending time by the pool or in a bech chair is your thing, the El San Juan is the place for you, but there are many options for day trips available through the concierge if you are looking for something more adventurous. Hopefully, we will return to the El San Juan soon for another wonderful visit!
