Grand Oasis Tulum

Almost 1 1/2 hours from the airport, but worth the ride. Very quiet, very uncrowded, very clean, very pleasant and helpful staff. Only ate at buffet, but with over 150 items (that is when I stopped counting) at each meal, all very fresh, plenty to choose from. Husband on very limited diet and it was no problem. A fresh grill at every meal so you choose chicken, beef, pork, fish to be grilled before you if you want, as well as the prepared dishes that change daily. Plenty of pools, bars, bikes, chairs on the beach, tables at restaurants. Delightful coral reef 200-300 feet off beach and lots of fish close to shore. A noisy air conditioner in our room that barely cooled the room, and the water shutting off for a few hours one day are our only complaints, but no big deal. Very large room, lots of storage space, comfortable beds, bottled water provided. Would love to return. Should you go, walk down the beach to the Bahia resort--there is a large craft market there every day, if you are interested in shopping.

Food is terrible.

Six of us and most of the others hotel guests in line agreed the food at the buffet was mostly inedible. I ate what was served at the grill. It was a step up. Setting up reservations for their restaurants is a joke. The only way you have a chance to get a table is to get in line in the middle of the afternoon. You cannot call in your reservation or book it in the morning. There is only seating at a few of the tables in their restaurants for all the people in the resort. So your chances of getting a table are slim even if you waste a day of your vacation in line. We ate at the Italian restaurant one night only because a lady in line in front of my husband could not book a table for six. It was OK but not great. We never saw the seafood restaurant. They shook their heads and smiled when we asked where to make reservations. I do have say all of the staff were great. The Happy Chicken by the kids pool had ok food and a great cook/waiter.

Sun, fun, and relaxation

First and foremost, i came to Mexico for the beach so i didn't step for into the pool. Okay i put my feet in it to wash off the sand, but that's it. The pool were beautiful though. Now the beach beautiful. And yes there is a beach. Many of the "ocean front" resorts i had been looking at, i learned -via riding past them on a catamaran- that they do not have a beach. Grand Oasis Tulum does have a beach. There isn't a ton of beach front, but it's there. If you are like me and burn easily in the sun, youll want to get up early (before breakfast) to reserve a beach chair under an umbrella as there are only 3 that do not have other beach chairs in front of them- for those perfect beach views. However for those that sleep in, there are multiple umbrellas further back. There aren't any people walking up and down the beach trying to sell things so it's very quiet. The bartender on the beach is amazing! I loved him! Gave me recommendations on restaurants and excursions as well as making sure anytime my drink got too low i had a brand new one. I paid for the grand plus upgrade. Few hiccups with the room. 1) the first room didn't have an ocean view. But had a HUGE balcony. Obviously since i paid for the ocean view i spoke with registration and was moved within the hour. 2) i had difficulties with my smoke detector. It beeped constantly. I had to call down to the front desk every day due to this. However one i called it stopped... but just for the rest of the day. Which isn't horrible since i didn't spend much time in my room anyways. The food was great. I suggest making reservations rather than doing the buffet, but the buffet was good. Reservations is a little weird as you have to make them right at 4p for that night. So if you go on an excursion and get back late you are forced to eat at the buffet. But the reservations do fill up fast. So i suggest arriving early. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. The room was decorated nicely. Over all i loved this resort. If you are coming to party, I'd suggest stay somewhere else. There isn't a ton going on in the evenings, but this is the "calm resort". I will be returning in July and i for see many return visits in the future!

Vacaciones

The room we got it was good, but located on the third floor and NO elevator,so we have to carry our luggage upstairs and walk up and down every day.The food it was very good but all the restaurant options they offer is almost impossible to get a reservation,I tried twice and I give up,I wrote a complaint also.According to the Restaurant Mgr.,the preference is for the people belonging to the exclusive Club, they make you feel the power of the money. If you want to use the Safe on your room, you need to rent a padlock from them(?).We received excellent service from all the employees principally from our housekeeper,Hilaria Caamal, but due the fact that I consider lack of honesty from them(offering all kind of dinner options that are no real)I will not return to this place and I will not recommend either
