I feel it's very important to read though my review if you plan to book with Riu. I will bullet point out all the cons and few pros: ** Our room was dirty. Dirty meaning sheets had stains, walls are in desperate need of painting, bed skirt looked like it was drug through dirt, couch in the room was worn out and dirty looking. When I brought this to the front desks attention, they told me no other rooms were available. After MUCH a-do, they switched me to another room in the same level I booked, that was also dirty. It was so difficult dealing with the front desk that we kept the second room, but it set the tone for a very bad vacation. The manager wasn't "available" at the time of this issue. I called the manager back twice at the front desk and he never returned my calls. I have attached two pictures of the stains on the sheet (top blanket) - on from each room. These stains were right in the middle of the bed in both places and they look disgusting in person. **The bed looks like something out of Motel 6. It's very uncomfortable to even look at in person. **The food is horrible. I am not a picky eater, either. The food was always over-cooked, and cold. Also, it was very difficult to get service at the sit down restaurants. I chose an all-inclusive to eat mainly at the resort and the food was so awful we ended up having to go off the resort for every meal after trying a couple of the places. **The pool closed at 8pm. WHAAATTTT?? I have never EVER heard of such a thing. It was 90* outside, middle of summer and all pools and jacuzzi's close at 8pm????? HORRIBLE. The resort was like a ghost town after 8pm so we went out (which is very expensive in Cabo) or to our rooms by 9pm. **The entertainment was ridiculous. They had the most horribly put together entertainment. It was so horrible it was laughable. One night was a band and my daughter and I laughed because the guitar player looked like he was sleeping and the singer was so off-key and didn't know words. Just embarrassingly ridiculous. The entertainment by the pool was obnoxious. The person using the mic was SO LOUD you couldn't enjoy music or relaxing. It was just awful. **Customer service was rude and HORRIBLE. They either act as if they don't understand English so they don't have to help you, or NOT A SINGLE PERSON spoke English there. I felt very uncomfortable where they couldn't even understand "I need an ice-pack" or "my room is dirty" **The rooms were not sealed in because tiny mosquitoes were flying in while we were sleeping, somehow. My daughter and I left with over a dozen bites each from sleeping at night. HORRIBLE **Pros: The beach is beautiful and very close, The pool was pretty and nice to use while it was open during the day

Nice vacation

We have stayed in several Riu resorts and I would consider this one to be average. The staff was very friendly and the room was comfortable. Dining options were very limited and they did not take reservations. We were unable to get in at the steak house and the buffet was certainly nothing special. Due to currents, you could not go in the ocean at this Riu but I believe that is clearly stated on the resort website. There are two rather large pools which are nice but could not access the swim up bars which only had access from two very small, crowded pools.

My husband and I had went with a group that travels together every summer. And the group has grown to about 25 people. This was my first time at a Riu and most likely my last. There was not much about my experience that would make us want to come back. As far as the hotel being was. The thing that disappointed us was most of all the food. We had paid for an all inclusive resort and we had to go into the town of Cabo to eat. We did tolerate the breakfast and lunch but at night unless you got out of the pool early to make it to the Resturant by 5-6 o'clock you didn't get in. Then you had to go to the buffet. And we did try to go early and try the resturant and when we got there we ended up not being able to eat our food. We all got up and went to the buffet. The food was just in no other words but terrible. The swim up bar was very small (there were 2)and our group would have filled the whole pool up. So we stayed in the larger pool but the drink service was really slow. And they only allowed 1 towel per person and every day you had to return it daily and get a clean one which there was only 1 place to do that and it was on the other side of the resort. As far as Cabo was great and the town of Cabo is safe. And we felt very safe there. But next time I will NOT be staying at the RIU. On our trips into town I seen many other nice places and I'll be trying those out next trip. This Riu was a total disappointment.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

Blue sparkling pools with dynamo ocean views. Pic opp moments, for sure.

Within walking distance to Cabo's El Medano Beach - you can swim, jet ski or bar hop along the shores.

Swoon-worthy views from your balcony - ocean or resort, either way - it's stunning.

Freshly made guacamole for your morning, afternoon, or late night snack. It's delish.

Resort is geared for families and mature adults - not your rowdy spring break revelers.

The Entertainment Team keeps things lively and when you want to let loose, Pacha disco is open at night.

Staying in your room and dining with 24-hour room service. Because you're a rock star.

What We'd Change

The beach out front isn't swimmable - the undercurrent is strong, but you can the pool is gorgeous and has the best ocean view.

Why You Should Go

Perfect location in Cabo - a short trip from the airport to the resort and close to Cabo's nightlife.

Riu's commitment to top notch service will win you over the moment your flip flops hit the resort.

Whale watching is epic here. Best time to see these awe-inspiring creatures - mid-Dec thru mid-April.

Stay sporty - tennis, volleyball, ping pong are included, and for a fee, ride horses on the beach.

See the famous El Arco (meaning "Land's End") from the resort. (Go there and take a Selfie).

RiuLand keeps the kiddos entertained. And, you? Book time in the spa. You deserve it.
