Unplug and unwind at Karibea Resort Sainte Luce on Martinique. This laid-back, tropical getaway is the ideal setting to explore French-infused culture and Creole culinary delights. Just five minutes from the fishing town of Sainte Luce, the resort is a modern resort complex that connects three individual hotels: Amandiers, Caribia and Amyris. As a result, guests get to enjoy three swimming pools, three restaurants and, not one but two, stunning beaches.

Take your pick of the two ivory-sand beaches and fritter away the afternoon in the sun. When you get enough sand and surf, but still want to relax by the water, it's time to hang out poolside. Hop from the first to the second to the third pool to scope out the scene at each one. Grab a fruity drink at The Pelican Bar or savor a pi?a colada at Le Baril du Rhum. Ready to eat? It's time to sample La Yole's Creole-inspired contemporary offerings. There's also La Pelican, with its beautiful view overlooking the pool and garden of Amyris to change it up.

When you're fueled up for adventure, head out in a kayak, compliments of the hotel. The resort will even lend you snorkels, diving masks and flippers to see what's up beneath the waves. If you want to try your hand at windsurfing or deep-sea diving, the friendly staff can help arrange your outing. Here's another fun idea: pony trekking! Romantic is your middle name if you're lucky enough to think of a pony-bound tour of the island before your honey does.

In the evening, the resort features Martinique folk ballet and other evening entertainment, like karaoke and dancing. Whatever the show, you'll be moving and grooving to the island beat. When it's over and the night is still young, try your luck at the casino, just a quick 7.5 miles jaunt away. Head to bed before sunrise, though, Montravail Forest is a must-see excursion just 2.5 miles from the center of Saint Luce; the rocks here are decorated with mysterious ancient engravings.

Martinique Le Lamentin Airport (FDF) is located 20 miles away; approximate driving time is 25 minutes. Lamentin-Fort de France airport is a 30-minute drive, 16 miles from the hotel. The resort is located 0.5 miles from the market town of Saint Luce on the Caribbean island of Martinique.

Guests may enjoy a refreshing dip in any of three freshwater swimming pools. There's even a paddling pool for kids. There are sun beds and sunshades around the pools.

Beach

The resort is bordered by two white-sand beaches. The water off the beaches is ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Beach towels are available with a deposit.

Water activities

Complimentary activities include the loan of flippers, diving mask and snorkel (with deposit), free kayak and windsurf (deposit); there is a charge for funboard and water skiing.

Activities such as deep-sea diving can be arranged.

Sports

Leisure options include a petanque court, two lighted tennis courts and table tennis. There is a games area for children.

Guests enjoy walks in the Montravail forest, 2.5 miles from the center of Sainte Luce, where there are rocks with centuries-old Indian engravings.
