Beautiful Resort
VERY NICE RESORT! Very friendly to English speakers. Management and staff were friendly and helpful. Nicest resort seen on the island. Very safe and comfortable. Close to shops, restaurants, casino and marina. Ferry to Fort de France easily accessed at the marina.
Parking for rental car was not a problem. No hidden charges and fees. Breakfast buffet was delicious and offered a great start to a day of laying on the beach or exploring the island. The resort was the perfect home base.
This resort is highly recommended. The price was very reasonable. Rooms were clean and more than adequate. Small fridge and safe in the room. 110 volt plug available in bathroom for US travellers.
No vending machines at hotel but drinks could be purchased at any time or purchased at local shops.
Nice variety of drinks available at the bar.
Very satisfied with this resort. Planning to return in the future to explore the rest of the island.

What We'd Change
The number of flights into Martinique is limited, which makes planning a little harder. On the other hand, fewer tourists make your island stay more serene.
Why You Should Go
What sets Martinique apart is its unique French feel, from cuisine to style. But the island also offers diving, sailing and other water sports that make this Caribbean resort a dream.

Hotel Description
Vacation in Colonial Elegance at the Hotel Bakoua Martinique
Precious woods and cane work in the sumptuous reception area let you know right away that you've entered a special world of luxury. Hotel Bakoua Martinique, once a grand, colonial home, whisks guests from today's stresses to an unhurried age of grace. Regarded as the most beautiful hotel on the island, this intimate resort charms you with authentic French East India Company charm.
From your perch beside the infinity pool, gaze across catamarans and ski boats on the bay to the island's capital, Fort de France. Just downhill from the pool, the sugar sands of the beach serve as a launch site for a host of water sports, offered free to guests of the hotel. Choose from leisurely pedal boats, stimulating kayaks and challenging windsurfing rigs. Don't worry if water sports aren't your thing. The hotel's tennis courts and billiards table keep landlubbers occupied for hours. Golfers are always happy to hear that not far from the hotel is the Empress Josephine Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr.
Two of the island's best restaurants call the hotel home, enticing you to explore the flavors of the French Caribbean. A French master chef tempts your taste buds with extraordinary red snapper with papaya sauerkraut at Le Chateaubriand. La Sirene, the hotel's other restaurant, specializes in West Indian cuisine, including grilled fish and meats. If you've got a sweet tooth, don't miss the traditional favorites on the dessert menu.
Charming, Creole-style buildings house the resort's 138 rooms. The warm tones and tastefully simple decor calm the most frayed of nerves. Panoramic views of the sea invite you to linger in your room. If you're feeling particularly lazy, room service is available, and there's no delivery fee!
An island excursion worth considering is a tour of the Savannah of the Slaves, a somber reminder of the darker side of an earlier time. The one-man cabins, crafted from local wood and roofed with palm fronds and sugar-cane leaves, are both tragic and beautiful.
