Enjoyable, from start to finish

"Thank you, this has been really wonderful" were the words my parents said as we were leaving this vacation. I booked this vacation with family and we decided to stay at Riu Santa Fe for it's proximity to town and the seemingly excellent price by comparison. The hotel delivered on all the promised aspects of the ad and we enjoyed the stay very much. The positives of the stay: The all-inclusive was definitely all inclusive. I've stayed at other Mexico resorts and had to buy water for my room, buy internet access, etc. Santa Fe offered water, beers, sodas, and even liquors in room. They also offered free wifi in the lobby (which extended to my room and other places around the resort) so I was able to check in with kiddos and emails. There were different pools with swim up bars and sitting area options. This was fantastic as some of the younger "more party-minded" folks could congregate in a pool and I was able to still enjoy being at a pool and enjoy the surroundings without rap music and be able to get a beverage without waiting for SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS to be poured. The neutral: The food was pretty standard buffet fare. Some was really good, some was just there, and some was real questionable. The breakfast was usually great with many different offerings. The sushi was completely questionable as the holding temp for the fish more like room temp and less like refrigerated... We stayed in building 6 and the rooms were comfortable, even with the random loud noises from other patrons into the night. The liquors in the room are "house" vodka, rum, tequila, and some version of brandy. Not my cup of tea, but the Dos XX in the fridge was nice, especially when traveling out of the hotel. The not so good: The king bed in my room was like a solid rock with sheets on it. Almost unbearable to sleep on. I read other reviews that said if you contact management, they would make efforts to fix this with an egg crate or similar, but I wasn't there long enough to let that bother me. The main section of the hotel is set behind the Riu Palace, meaning that you have a little bit of a walk to get to the beach access if you are in buildings 1-6. Again, it wasn't a deal breaker, but the sidewalks can get VERY hot in the midday sun. Wear sandals!

2 hour sandys

This resort is big , not overwhelming but if you don't like to walk stay somewhere else. The pools are big and beautiful. The service is good, I have had some better service other places but no complaints. The rooms are very nice and the beds were comfortable. Now on to the food. They have 5 dinner options and everything was amazing except the Mexican restaurant, which was still good. We didn't need reservations for any of them and the longest we had to wait was 40 minutes and that was with a group of 20. Iv been on a lot of all inclusive vacations and this was the best food I have had so far. Also the value of this trip was great and highly recommend especially if you are a guy pretending to be single and want to receive 2 hours sandys nightly.

What's to Love

All-inclusive everything: the cocktails, the grub, the utter awesomeness of it all.

Cabo's breath-stealing views from the patio of the resort that are picture-worthy.

Mojitos are legendary and de-lish. Order up as many as you want.

RiuFit is ready to buff you up. Weights. Cardio. Stretching. Catch it every morning & afternoon.

The impressive nightly entertainment. Especially fun for the little ones.

RiuLand, where the kiddos can play & craft the day away while you melt into stress extraction at the spa.

Dipping into the Jacuzzi for bubbly relaxation. (Plus always a fun mingling spot.)

What We'd Change

Reservations at the restaurants can be hard to get at the last minute. Ask about the schedule at check-in, then book your reservations early, so you'll have nothing to worry about.

Why You Should Go

It's close to the heart of Cabo San Lucas' shopping, nosh & drinking spots and the marina.

Whale watching here is epic. Best time to see these awe-inspiring creatures - mid-Dec thru mid-April.

Cabo's famous "El Arco" is in the backdrop. Grab your camera and snap, snap away.

You can dance your heart out at Pacha nightclub. Put on your disco shoes and get to it.

Invigorating crowds keep the party going at the pool, around the resort and at night.
