Riu Santa Fe

Positives: This is my second stay at this resort. This is a beautiful resort which is in a good location and close to downtown Cabo. The resort has plenty of pools, restaurants and bars on the premises. The rooms are spacious and kept clean. The staff is friendly and helpful especially the staff at all the restaurants. The food is very good and there are numerous choices/types of foods for all diets. There are many activities put on by the staff at the pools and beach. There are nightly shows and there is a club for dancing. Negatives: Staff does not enforce alcohol consumption of guests leading to some guests becoming too drunk and becoming obnoxious. This only occurred during the June visit as the November visit there were less college age guests. Guests should police themselves but at some point the hotel staff has to also accept some responsibility. Loud yelling and shouting in hallways late at night by these same type guests. Staff will not intervene to quiet these folks/keep them from disturbing other guests. Overall, this is a good resort for the price. I would recommend the months after summer for folks who are looking to relax and the summer months for folks who don't mind the rowdier crowd. Bring plenty of sunscreen.

Not the place if you have kids

The resort is really nice and super clean except the pools. I think it's the outside visitors that are dirty and spill drinks inside and trash. As for the rooms they're are immaculate. The front staff is not very professional and not very nice. The food wasn't good. All I really had when there was salads and fruit. We tried the Asian restaurant and it was terrible we walked out. I don't recommend this hotel if you have kids. I feel like it was more for partying. Overall the resort was OK but I wouldn't return there again.

Good getaway

We took our family for our first vacation outside of the US and overall it was good. I would advise to arrange transportation ahead of time. We did not and the airport was a mess! We were basically told we could be charged whatever they wanted to charge since we hadn't set anything up. We paid double what we would've paid just to get to the resort. Once at the resort we arrived to a girl covered in vomit passed out in a wheelchair at the entrance (quite a sight for my 8 year old). This was seen a few more times during our stay. Many of the activities were family friendly but it had a spring break vibe too. For a family resort in June I hadn't quite expected this. We avoided the pool by the hot tubs, that was where the adult only actions seemed to happen. The other pool areas were great! The room was average and the food was good. I didn't like that the front desk told me reservations were no longer made at the restaurants because we had to eat at the buffet most nights due to a 2 hour wait list at the Italian and steak restaurants. The buffet was nice though. The beach area was beautiful and we loved watching the waves. For the price you get a decent room, good food and a beautiful view at Riu Santa Fe. Overall we had a good time that my kids will remember forever but due to the numerous inappropriate things I saw (people taking off bathing suits and a couple of nights of guys fist fighting outside of our room) I don't know if I would stay at that resort again.

What's to Love

Cabo's breath-stealing views from the patio of the resort that are picture-worthy.

Mojitos are legendary and de-lish. Order up as many as you want.

RiuFit is ready to buff you up. Weights. Cardio. Stretching. Catch it every morning & afternoon.

The impressive nightly entertainment. Especially fun for the little ones.

RiuLand, where the kiddos can play & craft the day away while you melt into stress extraction at the spa.

Dipping into the Jacuzzi for bubbly relaxation. (Plus always a fun mingling spot.)

What We'd Change

Reservations at the restaurants can be hard to get at the last minute. Ask about the schedule at check-in, then book your reservations early, so you'll have nothing to worry about.

Why You Should Go

It's close to the heart of Cabo San Lucas' shopping, nosh & drinking spots and the marina.

Whale watching here is epic. Best time to see these awe-inspiring creatures - mid-Dec thru mid-April.

Cabo's famous "El Arco" is in the backdrop. Grab your camera and snap, snap away.

You can dance your heart out at Pacha nightclub. Put on your disco shoes and get to it.

Invigorating crowds keep the party going at the pool, around the resort and at night.

We know you're ready to escape the everyday and head to Cabo's sunny shores. Can't you just picture your day lounging by that big, bright blue pool? Good news - there is a swim-up bar for convenient cocktail-loading. Ah, day drinking just got a little more lively. Of course, Riu goes all out with unlimited food and drink, entertainment day and night, everything you want, and tops it off with a stress-smashing spa. But wait, it gets better. This little resort-gem is located close to Cabo's restaurants, bars, nightlife and shopping. And it's all waiting for you.

It's Time to Get Your Riu On.

DINING

You know Riu has you covered with a buffet full of anything and everything you want, plus "live" cooking stations that let you order up exactly what you're craving. At night, reserve your spot at an a la carte restaurant - Asian, Italian, steakhouse and a fan fav - Mexican. Beach appetit.
