The resort was nice and clean with amazing staff but the food was horrible! Only two dining options, a buffet and "sit down" which had the same 3 options for dinner every night. We were disappointed at each meal but had to eat it since there were no other options besides paying even more money to go to a restaurant outside the resort. The tours are long, mostly boring, and overpriced. The brought you to shops with pushy salesmen where there was no point other than for you to buy things. The snorkeling part of the tour got canceled just as we got to the marina wasting our time and money. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANY EXCURSIONS. The all inclusive drinks helped but otherwise there isn't much to do or see in the whole Cabo area so after a few days lounging it became rather boring.

Average hotel

I got what I paid for. Actually, it would have been better if it was about 200 cheaper than what I paid. Food was not the best and there were bugs in the room. The hotel wasn't as modern and the hotel lobby was unbelievably hot when I was checking in. Yes, the temperature was 91 with 80% humidity but the first impression was not a good one, considering everyone was waiting in line to be checked in. The wait was approximately 10 15 minutes to get to the desk. Felt like hours. The a.c. was way too loud and there was a chemical smell in my room, if it was from a recent fumigation, it didn't work because the bugs in the bathroom was always there.

Great vacation

The hotel was nice and we were able to upgrade with our Holiday Inn points from the early 90's. We didn't ask, they asked us at check in so that was a nice surprise. We didn't realize our points were still active! The room was basic. 2nd floor right off the pool area. I liked the accessibility to the pool but our balcony was in full sun in the afternoon, so it made it unusable at the time of day I most like to relax and read. I asked to move to a ground floor room with shade and they couldn't accommodate it even though the resort was by no means filled to capacity. It wasn't that big of a deal as being near to the main pool area and dining were the better perk in my eyes. The staff throughout was great!.Friendly and smiling. The pool staff were particularly awesome. Both activity directors made a point of greeting me by name by day 2. Juan the towel attendant was simply fabulous! He'd come by my chair and talk for a little while each day. (He made such an impression we became facebook friends!) The hotel is very lucky to have such a hard working dedicated young man working for them! The pool area was clean with plenty of seating and shade. I didn't like that there are no servers and you must go get your drinks at a very busy pool bar. Dining- the food at the beach retaurant was the best. We go vacationing in Mexico often and this was by far some of the best food options we've ever had. The view and the pounding surf were bonus. I have beautiful sunset pictures of this area. The buffet at the hotel restaurant was typical and we really didn't eat there any other than breakfast because we liked the beach place so much. Beach- was lovely to look at but you can't swim it. The shore line is so steep even wading in the surf can be dangerous. It's quite a hike across hot sand to the water but I found early morning strolls to be peaceful. The BOOM of the waves crashing is thunderous and awesome. You'll come across condo owners walking their dogs freely, a few fishermen, joggers and strollers like me. Everyone says Hola or Hello. The hotel borders a nature area with fresh water and there is a point where the two bodies of water almost meet. Lovely and scenic. I never felt unsafe and the one or two vendors baking in the hot sun all day waiting for you to leave the hotel area were neither pushy or annoying. I really wished to swim in the ocean but poolside worked for the price we paid. Location-The hotel is not near Cabos. It's a 40 min cab ride away. It is near a small town that we visited a few times. Great little restaurants there to eat authentic large portions of Mexican food, drink excellent cocktails and pay very little.Great souvenir shopping although we found better variety and pricing in Cabo at the shops in the Marina. The shows at the hotel were MEH. We went for a bit twice and it was never interesting enough to stay. Overall this hotel met all our needs at a very reasonable price.

Average at best

The service was good, the staff was nice and our room was clean. Nothing fancy but comfortable. Of course we wanted the beach experience more than the pool but unfortunately you can't swim in this area. The hotel was nice but we really didn't enjoy the food. They have something different each night but it just taste....off? The breakfast was good. They have an omelet station and they PACK the bacon. Make sure to ask for just a little bit if you're not looking for a heavy stomach or a heart attack lol. We went on a solo trip but I would've liked this hotel for my family of four. What irritated me the most was that it says Wi-Fi in each room but it didn't work well in our room. Anywhere outside (even one or two blocks away) it works perfect but after a long day at the beach and pool..it would've been nice to chill out to a netflix movie or something. We saw a lot of people who were sitting outside watching their iPads or laptops. The one thing they will not tell you is that the public transportation is just up the corner. There's a little downtown area is nice and really easy to get to. It's 12.50 pesos per person. There's a little playa if you catch the number 5 bus or you can hitch a ride to go to the church. It beats paying 7 dollars for a cab. The alcohol is off brands so they taste a little off as well. We took a bottle of each of our poison because of the scare that was in the news last month. (I called TSA and they said they didnt care how many we took just that they would ask and how many bottles we had) The soda is a little off..like an off brand coke so you might want to take your own mixers if you want anything other than beer. The beer was nice and cold. They have Tecate and Dos Equis but when they run out of either..they will just serve you a Cervesa..whichever is in the tap. It's a fun guessing game.

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive, beachfront haven away from the crowds for the whole fam-bam. Start packing.

Dropping of the munchkins at the Chiqui Club while you chillax by the shimmering, adults-only pool.

The comfy-liscious Bali Beds on the beach with a view of the cerulean Sea of Cortez.

Soaking in the wildlife at the lush San Jose Estuary that's just north of the resort.

The resort is 100% smoke free - all the rooms, common areas and the pools.

What We'd Change

The undertow makes it impossible to swim in the Sea of Cortes, but with three terrific pools overlooking the beach, who needs the ocean?

Why You Should Go

The airport is a short 25-minute drive from the airport - vacay cocktails soon.

Don't miss the epic El Arco. It's a must-see. Pinky promise.

Between June and November, you can catch the turtle release. Aahmazing.

It's just a 10-minute walk to the charming town of San Jose del Cabo.
