Average - just average...

The interior of the resort is nice, clean and comfortable. The bartenders inside the building and beach-side are very friendly and accommodating. The pool bartenders are only so-so. The food was pretty good and always fresh. Descent variety which was good for our family of 5. My biggest complaint is with the beach area. In comparison to our other vacations, including other islands - this was the dirtiest beach we have visited. Trash mostly.... Nothing that washed up, just trash from other visitors. The pool was nice for the kids - they really enjoyed the activities. Intro to scuba was awesome as they got to try it in the pool area. We typically enjoy walking along the beach and our kids are old enough to run up and down the beach unsupervised... however this beach can be covered in about a 10 minute walk. We were expecting (or hoping) for more. It seems we needed to be in Negril if we wanted the white sand and beachside activities. One thing we didn't expect was to feel 'trapped' in our resort. I appreciate the gated entry and security guards at each end of the beach which kept out the locals, however I did not appreciate the pricer gauging on the taxi service. Taxi's were parked inside the resort waiting on you - which was nice, but they WAY overcharged for a 5 min drive. They discouraged walking out of the resort at anytime of the day... Pictures were often taken of our family during our visit. The price for a CD was over $100 for 10 images. We did pay for 10 of them but I did feel violated a bit. To wrap this up I can say that I don't have anything super negative to say about our experience, but nothing super positive either...Hence my average review. We have been to multiple island vacations (Maui, Barbados, Aruba and now Jamaica) and Jamaica lands 3rd on our list - IF we go back it will be to Negril. Only Negril.

Great bang for the buck - would return

We (family with all adults) were pleasantly surprised with the whole resort. Never have done an all inclusive before but it was great! The rooms were good, the meals were good and the beach and pool area great (thought the pool water is a bit cold in December). There is always plenty of food and drink! The staff was very friendly and always helpful. For the money, it cannot be beat!

Awesome Trip

We had a blast! We had three people in our room, so it was a bit cramped. If it had just been the double occupancy it would have been fine. Great food, great service. People there were sooooo awesome. Thanks to Cupcake (towel gal) and Candy, Caroline on the beach, Nicholas the lifeguard, Sasha, and so many others for making our stay great!! The front desk people were fantastic, all the waiters and waitresses. Everyone was so helpful. Could have used a little better room service as far as stocking the frig though. Other than that, I have absolutely nothing to complain about!! Even with the little construction going on, they made it as inconspicuous as they possibly could...Thank you all..

Not Happy

The Iberostar Beach Resort promised much but delivered very little. When I got there I was given a room that reeked of mold and mildew, no AC and the fan was wobbling, It was so bad that I had to run out of the room just to catch my breath. Then I was given another room the AC wasn’t working and the room was freshly painted and upon opening the door with guest services walked back out. I was given another room on the other side which was tolerable (sink was cracked). Don’t be fooled, I was scheduled to attend a wedding and when I called prior to booking was told it was a part of Iberostar. When I went to the wedding at the Iberostar Grand was told that the Iberostar beach resort was considered an OUTSIDE HOTEL and was charged just to enter the wedding. The service was subpar and had to flag down the wait staff just to get a refill on coffee or juice and everyone expected to be tipped. Not happy with the service and not impressed with the hotel the first two rooms reminded me of a seedy rundown motel.
