What a disappointment.

This was my second and LAST VISIT to this resort. Our first trip 3 years ago was heavenly - perfect. Great food, no outages, no issues. Suspect management has changed because never have 2 vacations in the same location been so different. Not even sure where to begin. * No security on the beach. Witnessed a local seller assault another seller at the water's edge. Rent-a-cop security first tried to laugh it off, then pretended to care when guests complained. Reported all of it to head security after the assailant called me an F-ing Elephant in front of security. We were assured assailant would be removed and we would be informed. Never heard a thing. Day 2 - assailant on beach again and we went straight to head of security. Informed by all that there is nothing they can do about it as it is international waters. Asked if we wanted marine police to remove assailant. Stated yes and head of security agreed to find us with a status report. Never heard ANYTHING. Next day and all remaining days - same assailant on beach. BASICALLY - this resort should advertise that they will do nothing to protect their guests in the water, as it is out of their jurisdiction. Witnessed local sellers begging food and drinks from guests since it's all inclusive and guests providing in front of security guards. TOTAL JOKE. We complained and they did NOTHING - never had the courtesy to even update us, as THEY PROMISED. * Bars and restaurants out of basic goods for DAYS. 3 days with no diet coke, several locations missing RUM in JAMAICA. 3PM in the afternoon and the frozen drink machines not ready. No tomato juice for bloody marys. No fruit for any drinks. Buffet terrible with leftovers day after day of the same stuff. Wait 10 minutes for them to get plates - one bar ran out of cups. It was a comedy of errors. Thank goodness we bought Vodka and chocolate at duty free on the way. We spent a week at an all-inclusive and lost weight. *Grounds/Upkeep - our last visit, the place was pristine. This time was just dirty and rundown. Our elevator had the numbers ripped off the walls and scratches all over - looked like a Motel 6 elevator. Garbage and debris all over. Just not a 5 star resort like last time. and Amstar were wonderful to work with -I'd highly recommend them, I just suggest you go somewhere else. This place sucked.

Great resort in jaimaca

Grounds are beautiful. Staff are super nice. Room was very spacious with a balcony, king sized bed and amazing view. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Had to pay 6 usd a day to use the safe. That seemed silly. Should be included. Beaches were amazing. Pool was a blast. This is a huge resort! Upwards of 1500 rooms. Never was a problem getting a pool chair or a beach chair. The pool was huge. My biggest complaint was the food. It was pretty terrible. Super difficult to get a reservation in any of the restaurants... and still food was not that good (although we only got to try 1) We did not stay on the luxury side. I am told that the luxury side has better food..aside from that and a larger drink selection the only difference that I could tell was the adults only rule. Speaking of... there was a pretty limited selection for drinks. I think if I came back I would bring my own drinks.. and go out to town for a few groceries. Final complaint.. was a faint septic smell when we arrived that I'm not sure if we just got used to or went away... but it didn't bother me much after the first day. My husband fell in love with the place. We will be back.

I would say this resort is a must see and stay for at least a week. You will not regret your choice and will be planning for a future return as soon as possible. Totally awesome from the beginning to the end!!!

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive beach bonanza for every member of your fam-bam.

The white, cabana-ish tents that hug the pool and provide shade while you chillax.

Being greeted by colorful, fresh bougainvillea on your massage table in the spa.

The two coolio, curvy pools that are a coconut's throw from the beach.

What We'd Change

The beach is a little pebbly, so make sure you bring your water shoes. The upside is that it makes for truly excellent snorkeling right off shore.

Why You Should Go

It's 75 minutes from Mobay airport. Don't fret. You'll be greeted with a welcome cocktail soon.

The beach is a bit pebbly, so bring your water shoes.

Before your flight home, hit Club Mobay at the airport for A/C, drinks and lots of spoiling.

Book your airport transfers with us before you arrive. You'll avoid a lot of headaches.

Hotel Description

Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica: All-Inclusive & All-Fam-tastic

When you enter the open-air lobby of this Victorian-style resort, you'll immediately feel the Jamaican breezes wash over you. Next, you'll encounter a sea of white, wicker chairs on the expansive porch (they're oh-so British), where you can sip a cocktail and soak in all the awesome of the lush grounds. Wander through the complex and you'll be wowed by the glistening pools and the cerulean waves of Runaway Bay. Grab a Red Stripe from the swim-up bar while your kids can descend into a splash frenzy at their own pool. Then you can all gather for some Jerk Chicken at the snack bar, where you can plot your next adventures: water sports, nightly shows, and more. When might we expect you?
