Not sure what else you need...

By no means a perfect resort, but as far as Dominican Resorts go it suited us perfectly. The value was incredible, booked the Deal of Fortune, was placed here and was happy as it looked like a newer resort. By the comments of the other resorts we were more willing to deal with issues a new resort would have (i.e. hot tubs not being hot) rather than the types of issues an old resort would have (i.e. musty moldy rooms). Service was great, staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed the entire trip. Beach and Pools were Average as compared to other Dominican beaches and pools. With that said, it's still an AWESOME place to spend a couple days. The beach is eroding severely and they have placed man made sandbars (made of plastic) in the ocean to calm the waves... made a calmer ocean behind them for us to lounge in. Dining was meh. As all DR resorts are. Chopsticks was great, I could eat a stir fry every night and almost did while I was there. Best part of this resort is no weekly limit on restaurants, if we went to one that wasn't great or quantity wasn't enough, we went back to buffet or the pizza bar. There was certainly enough to fill up on. Room was standard. Thought the AC could have been stronger, but I like sleeping in a freezer, my gf was happy it was in fact not a freezer in the room (though setting was set as low as possible). Could have also just been our room. All in all - if you can't enjoy it here, you're a miserable person who was going to have issues anywhere you went. I will say, the resort/these vacation companies were RELENTLESS with excursion type sales pitches. Just be polite, that if you are interested, you'll find them. Other than that, when you check in, just say no to the "VIP breakfast" - ask to go to your room immediately.

Not what expected

The employees are best! They did great job: Ingrid, Luis, Elie, Juan, Belkis, Gabriel, Yemi. The beach was flooded/washed out and closed for few days. Then they worked to fix from 8am to 10am when people were trying to use beach. The food choices are very limited. Every day breakfast, lunch, dinner had same food. Mostly vegetables. No seafood. Drinks very poor quality. If you have rains during your stay be ready that your room will have a leak and beach will be closed. And all water from drains will come into your beach area.

Good Value

I really enjoyed my time at this resort. I will start with the positives. The resort is beautiful. Grounds are well maintained. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, I loved the bed. Slept like a baby. The staff at the hotel was amazing, from the cleaning ladies to the waiters and waitresses. The entertainment was also lots of fun. They had a Paella Party on the beach, evening cocktail party by the pool. Water aerobics in the pool, yoga on the beach and lots of other activities. The entertainment staff is wonderful in engaging the visitors. The negatives in my opinion are: 1) no free wifi 2) the water pressure in the shower was terrible 3) It can be a little noisy. We tried to take a siesta in the early afternoon but due to the maids speaking loudly in the halls, we couldn't fall asleep. I also noticed the maids clean at all hours. It was a little distracting. 4) The Liquor that is included with the package is not even premium. I asked for white wine during dinner and it was an awful table wine. I had to pay extra for Pinot Grigio. I felt like the drinks by the beach were watered down. I would have to ask for extra rum when having a pina colada because I couldn't taste the liquor. The food was 50/50 The breakfast buffet at Windows was excellent, we went there every morning. But the dinner could have been better, we only had dinner once there. The italian restaurant was pretty decent, we ended up eating dinner there more than once. The grill by the beach was also decent. You can grab a burger or hot dog and some fries and sit right on your beach chair and enjoy. All in all I think this was an amazing value. We really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely go back.

Fun time at Sunscape

Resort was good for what we paid. We were there for 7 nights and we enjoyed. The food was okay at the buffet, but the better meals were served at the habachi restaurant and at the French restaurant. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Evelin at the Coconut beach bar was wonderful as she took care of our drinks everyday. The entertainment team made our stay very fun especially willywonka. Room and resort was always clean, there were no issues with the temperature nor our special requests ( extra towels, extra pillows) with our room.We stayed on building 24 and it seems to be in the center of the resort, making easy to access each area of the resort. Everyone was very helpful and positive. Heads up, they will try to sell you a VIP package on your second day during breakfast. We were okay with it, but other may not be. Overall it was a great time.
