Best Trip EVER

From check-in to check-out, the entire vacation ran very smoothly, especially for a large group of 16! The staff was very kind and accommodating. We could see how much they enjoyed their job and it made our time there that much more fun. We originally requested to all be in the same building and when we got there, we weren't, so we asked the front desk to move us and we had a new room near our group within 20 minutes. The entertainment staff is so fun and energetic, always getting people up and moving, making sure they are enjoying themselves. The food was decent, however for the price we paid, definitely not complaining. After reading a lot of other negative reviews I was very nervous to go to this resort, but we had an outstanding experience and it seemed as though most of the issues other people complained about have been solved. It's important to keep in mind that this resort just opened in December, so the management and staff are still trying to get all of the processes in line. I see so much potential for this resort and if they could improve as much as they did from the early reviews, up to when we visited, they will definitely be an amazing in a year. Although the wave breakers are "ugly," it made swimming in the ocean a lot more enjoyable. If you really don't want them in your picture, take a short walk down to the next resort (either way) and take one. Thank you for the awesome experience and memories to everyone of the staff that made our trip amazing!

Paradise?

This resort reopened approximately 2 months ago and still has many kinks to work through. Not enough help and not customer service oriented. Food was sub par, drinks ok. Best thing about our stay was the lovely weather! Would not return to this resort!

Good value for the money

This resort is really nice. Well designed with plenty of greenery, endless pools, bars, buffets, grill, etc. I particularly liked that there were plenty of shade areas to lay on the beach under the palm trees enjoying wonderful breeze. The pools are nice and all organized fitness activities were great. This resort has couple engineering problems- well insulated from outside noise if you keep balcony door closed. But there is lack of insulation from inside- you can hear everyone in the hall walking and talking which is a problem late night and early in the morning...Housekeepers are really loud and chatty and so you cannot sleep past 8AM. This resort also has a major beach erosion and undergoing beach repairs - currently there are multiple geo tubes blocking the view. The sewer issue exist between buildings 10 and 11. You can also smell some restrooms around the pool areas - do not have proper ventilation and so the smell probably cannot be easily resolved. The vendors selling souvenirs need to learn to be less invasive and less annoying. Overall people work very hard to keep Sunscape resort clean and well maintained. But most personnel barely speak English which is a problem when it comes to customer service. Our room was nice and we did not experience issues as far as comfort goes, except that mattress was a little hard. We had issues with housekeeping though- we did not get our room cleaned and re-supplied for two out of four days that we stayed there. The free wifi is only available in public areas and is really slow and not consistent. The food is good but not great. The restaurant service is good except for slow coffee re-fills. Breakfast buffet had good omelets, waffles, crepes and smoothie bar. Lunch had good chicken, burgers, hot dogs and french fries as well as basic salad bar was good. The rest of food was either overcooked or lacked taste and variety. I wish they had different menus each day and also had more variety of local fish as well as had some local cuisine options including more deserts could be made from local cocoa, vanilla, honey and coconuts. All inclusive drinks were worth the money, but the wine and beer choices were very limited. We liked dining at French and Italian restaurants and had beautiful view, good service and decent meals. We did not like Chopsticks neither the Grill. The first lacked an ambience and performance and the second simply just felt like a buffet we just had at lunch. Since we came early for dinner each night- we did not experience any major waiting times. Overall value for the money was adequate and we had good time.

Great value for money

The staff are super friendly, especially with an 18 month old and go out of their way to help out and accommodate requests. There are many pool options depending on your mood, and the beach is right there too with crystal clear water. Activities are available everyday, and although we didn't participate there is something for everyone day and night. The rooms are nice, clean and comfortable and great value for money. Food options and quality are exactly what you would expect from an all inclusive resort, Buffet, Pizza, Burgers, Italian, Japanese and Steakhouse. While not fine dining it the food is good and the options are there for all tastes. We would definitely come back and I would highly recommend upgrading to the Sun Club which is the members program. You get a better room and access to Pools/Bar that are members only
