Excellent Choice

First let me start by saying that the resort is very clean. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff and I do mean all staff are so very, very friendly. They go above and beyond to help you and to make sure your stay is everything it should be. There is plenty to eat and drink. There are bars located throughout the resort and very eager to serve you. There are two enormous pools plus the beautiful beach and always plenty of lounge chairs. I highly recommend this resort. Please be sure to tip each and every person who serves and or helps you, as they rely on tip money. Just a few dollars will go a long way for them.

Great place

This was a very enjoyable experience. The service was awesome. Everyone was so nice, especially Mr Mauricio at the lobby bar and Elvin. Our room was located in the middle of everything. Extremely short walk to the beach with the pool right outside our building. We had entertainment every night and the food was very good. My husband and I can't wait to go back!

Beware

I'm gonna preface this review with the fact that this is a very family friendly resort. Although i'm not sure who would want to bring their family here. Regardless, don't come here for your bachelor party or cause you think you and your boys are gonna get "lit" cause you won't. You instead are going to get barraged with flies and more No's than Yes' on your "vacation". I'll start with the resort itself. To begin we were greeted by our concierge who would be helping us through out the trip. I think his very first words were i'll be here for you but i'll be off tomorrow. We didn't see him again until the day before we left when he asked us if we bought any of the excursions. During our tour we noticed there were a couple places to eat only at certain hours. Making a reservation is also not a thing here. They had one hibachi place that apparently was the crown jewel of the resort. Basically it opened at 5 and it was first come first serve to make a reservation. By far the best place here but felt like I was back in NYC trying to make a reservation. The service at the other restaurants was horrendous. We made it to our room to find no comforters, and a pillow with an orange streak on it that can only be described as questionable. The room was dated and when I stepped out to my balcony I realized the worst thing about this resort. 50% of the rooms are looking at a dumpster and dirt road. Either you have that view or view of the pool and ocean. (not sure how that gets decided) And if you are lucky enough to have the ocean view it will be plagued by huge bags of sand we referred to as the lumps. They are manmade obstructions that look like they could grow cancer. You will conveniently never see these until you get on the resort. As you make your way to the beach you will in fact see cabanas that will give you a warm feeling of relaxation as you stare into the ocean until the guy with the stick comes over and tells you they are for privileged guests only. Privilege is their 1% option that was never offered and after staying here I would never have paid for. They receive access to the cabanas, (no privledge, no cabana) higher quality liquor, which is middle shelf here in America, closer towel stations which you have to get up at 8am to even receive and small lounges placed throughout the resort. What a terrible thing it was to feel like what you didn't pay enough to receive decent service. At $1200 for 6 days it was close to what I have paid for RIU resorts which are leagues beyond this place. During our stay we realized everything is far from the other. Probably a little over a mile walking from your room to the main buffet dining hall and back. Which also leads to why room service takes over an hour. One time they just forgot about the wine I ordered and I just went to bed. Onto the food or lack there of. The choices were small and edible. I'm not sure I could say much else. Between 3 and 6:30 you are forced to eat from a bar on the beach with one guy we dubbed as fly man. He oversaw his army of flies as well as the burgers, hotdogs, and fries that came with them. By far the worst thing I have eaten on any vacation even domestically. I would love to say the staff was great but after seeing one of my companions almost pulled out of the pool to participate in one of their weird activities. And I think that was the worst thing about this place. The staff was overly aggressive. I felt like no one wanted to work without a tip and being haggled relentlessly to buy wooden objects while walking to the dinner was not something I counted on while vacationing. Solicitation of this caliber is reserved for places like canal street. The kind of sales tactics like putting items in your hand to show ownership. To wrap this up if you like flies, being haggled, denied amenities you thought you were entitled to and finding hair on your bacon right before you leave this is the place for you!

Hotel Description

Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort, Punta Cana: Get Ready to Double Down

If life feels like one long day after another, give yourself permission to check out the magnificent Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort. The Ocean Blue and Ocean Sand share facilities, which means twice the activities of an average resort by offering dining and amenities for every one of their guests with access to both resorts. Each resort houses half of the combined 708 five-star suites and junior suites. VIP concierge service is offered for Privilege Jr. Suites.

Located along the lush Dominican Republic's Punta Cana, this all-inclusive dreamboat offers water activities, such as snorkeling, windsurfing and scuba diving, plus unique ways to see the sights, including a cool beachfront climbing wall. Float under swaying palm trees in the quiet pool or order a margarita and join the party at the other pool's swim-up bar. When you've had enough water fun, channel your inner Robin Hood at the archery range, shoot pool like Minnesota Fats, or peddle like Lance Armstrong on a bike.

If you're feeling in need of pampering, relax at Ocean Spa, then grab an Irish Coffee at Mike's, the coffeehouse at Ocean Blue & Sand. Fully caffeinated and ready to go, cash in at the Ocean Tower Casino, or strike out with the family at the bowling alley. If bowling balls aren't your cup of tea, splurge a little and grab a tee-time at nearby White Sands Golf Course, an 18-hole course designed by Spanish golf great, Jose "Pepe" Gancedo.

Guests can have their taste buds tickled with a smattering of delicious dining options from El Bodegon's Spanish tapas, to Route 66's 1950s diner, to La Casa de Mi Abuela's traditional Dominican fare. Dine where you like, when you like, with no reservations needed. And for those who really rock around the clock, you can play the night away at the resort's Wave Disco Bar. So if you just can't stop... you don't have to at Ocean Blue & Sand Beach Resort, where it's all inclusive, all of the time.
