Resort has the possibility to be a five star or even a diamond resort. There was a lot of construction going on half the resort was closed due to construction. Asked for a oceanfront view initially and we received the backyard construction view. Upgraded to building 13 room 223 was closer to the water overall the room was nice but the water dripped from the room above all night complete nightmare!!!! The added restaurants food was so fill me to update their menu specially at the Chinese restaurant and the Mexican restaurant food The food in the buffet was good souvenir shops was good wouldn't mind going back but would not stay at Occidental

worst place ever

First day, no free Wifi, after it was advertised that there was free wifi in the lobby. 2nd day, spent forty five minutes trying to get a pool towel, was told they were all dirty, this was 10:00a.m. Had to pay 5.00 a day for a safe. 3rd day was physically assaulted by someone on the beach, and hotel security was called, and nothing was done about it. A/c in room kept going out, and I had to keep calling the desk to come and fix it. There were four of us in the room, and they would only give us two towels, kept calling numerous times for more. Reservations for the restaraunts for always booked. Staff was not friendly, rude, and always told me to speak to someone else. The food was not good. The hotel rooms were dirty, the sheets were dirty. Staff stands around just talking to each other, instead of asking and accommodating guests. During the shows, I was there with my children, when I saw someone who took out a big pipe and starting smoking houka right in front of everyone. There was constantly fights with staff and guests. I feared for my safety and the safety of my children, will never ever go to this place again. Please be aware. One guests told me that she had bed bugs in her room!!!! Awful place, should be shut down!!!!

Worst place ever

First we get there and the appearance of the Lobby misled us. Bright and clean. We go to the front desk and we can't check in for a couple of ours so they give us a ticket for our luggage our bracelets and an envelope with an empty room card sleeve with a map. We finally get our room we proceed to the front to retrieve our luggage, nobody is around to help us. We see our luggage still on the curb where we left it so we just take it to our room. How's that for security. Get to our room. Carry our luggage up 3 flights of stairs to find a very run down room. Tv doesn't work all static. Cockroaches a shower that doesn't drain and male staff members who sit and check out every female guests. They are nasty when you ask for your towel card back because if you don't hand that towel card in at checkout you owe 20 bucks for the cost of the towel. Which I had to almost beg for in the first place. No wash cloths are given and as far as toiletries bring your own. To top it all off we go back to our room and another couple walks in because they assigned our room to someone else. Punta Cana occidental is the last place I would ever choose.

Hotel Description

Occidental Grand Punta Cana: Get A Lot of All-Inclusive

While there are tons of things to do to have fun, the bright lights of the big city don't compare to the glory of a sun-bleached beach. For a taste of natural beauty, families head to Spanish-style Occidental Grand Punta Cana, where the all-inclusive package promises beachfront fun in the Caribbean sun. The enormous Three-and-a-Half Sun resort appeals to couples and honeymooners with its lush gardens and palm-dotted stretch of Punta Cana beach, but the real focus is on families. With three lagoon-style pools and a jaw-dropping nine restaurants and seven bars, there's never a dull moment or an empty belly!

Sweet sands and teasing teal surf tempt guests into the waves at the resort's 700 glorious yards of Punta Cana beachfront. Kick back under a palapa to watch the coconut palms sway while the kids stage swimming races. Kids even get their own lagoon-style pool, one of three perfect for working on a golden tan. Swim up an appetite? Nine dining options take care of that! From a thick rib-eye steak at Las Reses and tender duck at D'Oriental to hearty spaghetti at Via Veneto and authentic tri-tip at La Hacienda, families love the delicious variety. Late night munchies meet their match at La Fontana, a pizzeria that stays open well into the night--a tasty treat after taking in nightly entertainment at the open-air amphitheater. Seven bars keep the action going, and adults looking to shake and shimmy head to Mangu Nightclub for a wild night.

Families party all night and play all day at Occidental Grand Punta Cana. All-inclusive watersports keep the little ones happy: kayak races, windsurfing through the electric blue or sailing out for a breath of ocean air. Want to try snorkeling around Punta Cana's 19-mile coral reef? Drop the kids off for supervised arts and crafts at the on-site kids' club and dive right in!

Seventeen three-story buildings hold 865 luxurious rooms that weary relax-ationers flock to after a day of fun in the sun. Two double beds and a relaxing terrace or balcony in the Junior Suite appeal to families, and the stocked mini fridge is a lifesaver!
