Don't waste your time at this "party"

I booked this place because it said it was the number one party hotel in Punta Cana. We arrived New Year's Eve and expected a huge party. It Said it always had activities/shows going on. Not the case WHATSOEVER!! We get there and they welcome you with smiles and a welcome to the party and hand you a drink. We went to our room which was so dirty and smelled so bad so we complained. They moved us to a better smelling one basically same cleanliness. I don't spend much time on the room so I wasn't going to let it ruin my trip. By the end of the week we had tried all the restaurants, no good! Breakfast was the best meal; they had everything on the breakfast buffet that you could want. There was one good restaurant for dinner- the continental. Everything else was made as cheaply and tasteless as possible. They had no night life-one "club" opened and the casino past 11. During the day you either pay outrageous prices for excursions or lay at the beach/pool all day. They turn music on at the pool around 3 until 530 daily for a dance party and sometimes a game of some sort. No music at the beach or pool any other time. Must of the staff was extremely friendly except the miserable bartenders. Drinks are watered down. We met some wonderful people there so we stil had a good time but everyone was complaining that they overplayed for the quality of it all. So on our last day we checked out came down to get on the shuttle and I got a call saying the flight was cancelled. When speaking to Amstar who told me to check with them to make sure the flights didn't get changes, knew nothing. We told them what happened they didn't care. They told us we had to book a room for $700 or leave. We told them we just spent a week and did multiple excursions and couldn't afford that much for a room. We sat there for 3 hours and finally someone from Aramark spoke to someone and we got the room for $366. Not much better. They are not accommodating at all. That night I went on their webpage and they had a statement on it saying due to the weather and cancellations of flights we will only charge $119 per person. So I immuwent to speak to them and they had a hundred different excuses why they couldn't do it for us. Ridiculous!!! They first time we went to Punta Cana we stayed at the Majestic. It was incredible!! Go there!!!! Do not waste a dime on Breathless! More like Tasteless!

Worth the Money

We visited Breathless January 2 - 7. Upon arriving at the resort, we were led to a conference room ( I dont think they have an actual front desk) When we got to the room, all I could think was "Time Share". I was completely wrong! The man gave us our room keys and told us a little about where everything was on the resort. No upgrades sales pitch at all. When then met with our luggage and went straight to our room. The room was ok. It did have a musty smell, but I expected that since it is right on the beach. We did not pay for a swim out room, but thats what we got. No complaints there. We had room 1106. We unpacked and went straight down to the beach. We met a staff member names Luis. He was wonderful. He had drinks for us before we even sat down. He told us that he would save us beach chairs everyday while we were on vaca. That first night, we just hit the buffet at Spoon for dinner. It was ok, nothing special. We usually sat in the main bar area every night after dinner and the waitress were very nice. Day 2, we received a call at 8:30 but never answered it and room service came barging into the room right after that. We got use to the 8:30 am calls every day and also got use to room service walking right in even if we were still in bed. This is our first full day and we grabbed breakfast at the buffet and it was really good. Headed down to the beach and just as promised, our beach chairs were saved! Luis met us and we had drinks in hand. Luis loves the Cleveland Cavs and we happened to have some extra gear and gave it to him. He was very greatfull! Almost every day,, we had lunch at the Shack by the beach and the food was good. This night we had dinner at the Asian place. We got a normal table, not the Hibachi. The food was really good, but very tiny portions. My husband was still very hungry,so we walked over to the Strip and he got a steak. LOL Day 3, Beach day again and our chairs were ready for us once again. This night we had dinner at the Italian place. WOW, the food was great!!!! Day 4, this day we just hung our by the pool for a few hours because we had Spa appointments. The spa was very nice, I did a visit with the fish doctor and loved it. This night was had Hibachi for dinner. The food was pretty good. No complaints! Day 5, our last full day. We hung out at the pool most of the day and then went down to the beach for a few hours. This day we actually went to the lunch buffet at Sofrito and it was amazing!!! We ended up going back to the Italian place for dinner because it was our favorite. All in all the trip was well worth it. We never once was approached by a time share person. You cant miss them, they stand in the main area, but they NEVER bothered us. The only complaint I have is that our mini bar never got filled. We only drank the water, but it was easy enough to walk over to the pool and grab a bunch of water. Our room was right by the Party Pool, so we expected it to be loud every day.... did not bother us at all. Also, the Party Pool did not really get loud till about 3pm everyday. They resort has an E-Team that performs a show every night and they were really good. This resort is connected to the next resort, which is Onyx and you are allowed to go over there and hang out and eat. It is a family resort, so there are kids there. Woman do go topless on the beach and at the pool, but you get use to it. There are always people walking around trying to sell excursions or spa stuff. We did purchase our spa visit through one of these people and got it so much cheaper than they advertise. Oh, one last thing. The drinks are very watered down!!! When we ordered a drink, we always ordered a shot to put in it. Without the shot, I did not think there was any alcohol in them....

What an amazing trip!!!

I can't say enough about how awesome this trip was. We took a gamble with the mystery trip option and would do it again in a heartbeat. Cheapcaribbean.com took amazing care of us and we got a fantastic value for our money. Breathless punta cana was incredible, and I will always do adults only trips from now on. Staff was always a pleasure to speak with, never got hassled to buy a timeshare unless we wanted to talk about something like that, and had an AMAZING entertainment group. Seriously, some of the stuff felt like a personal vegas show. Drinks were delicious and kept on coming, and all the dining options were delicious. The general buffet location as well as the "strip grill" for steaks were my two favorites! The habachi restaurant was fun too and is the only place that requires a reservation. It truly felt like a second honeymoon and I wish we would have stayed a few more days!

Was an awesome experiencce

We had an awesome vacation. I really can not say anything bad. We had a couple of issues that they handled right away and were great. As vacations go it was awesome. I was nervous as you read some reviews and you hear bad service, or musty rooms, or this and that. We did not see any of that. I am sure there was some not perfect moments but really not many. Our room was great. The maid came a few different times, but always came and if we needed anything we called down and it was there right away. Room was beautiful. We did not upgrade to the excel and I don't think we missed anything. Food was great. Staff in the restaurants were awesome. Loved you didn't have to make reservations except for the one and you could just stop in anytime. Pools and beach were perfect. Lots of party space, lots of relaxing space for whatever we were in the mood for. Having pool and beach side service was awesome. The entertainment was ok. They had a lot of it, but I think they could of had a bit more variety. The MC of the entertainment was the worst part of our trip. He said the same things over and over and one of them was OH MY GOD. If I heard it once in a while I could ignore it but it was every other sentence. Culturally they might not know that it is possibly disrespectful to some people's beliefs. But I was very glad they had entertainment. Every evening we would go and sit and play cards with our group before dinner and the most amazing hard working young women would be our waitress. Her name was Marcia Helly. She was always smiling, dancing or laughing. She made us smile and it was a joy to give her a nice tip at the end of our stay. She was overwhelmed and hugged me and said thank you so very much. Tipping was not expected at all. But it was really nice to be able to share a few bucks here and there as it makes a world of difference to them. I would go back again. If you are thinking of booking and hesitating.... DO IT

What's to Love

A Las-Vegas-meets-South-Beach mash-up, Breathless Punta Cana is an adults-only playground for elite, discerning travelers.

Here, you can either frolic or lounge, (or toggle between the two states), in an escape zone of unhinged revelry and bliss.

Rockin' suites (the size of the Grand Canyon) with stress-busting Jacuzzis on your private terrace.

Baths have Jack and Jill vessel sinks in hip, bright colors (orange, yellow), which will bring a little happy to your sleepy-eyed morning.

You can pamper yourself with Zero % Gilchrist & Soames luxury bath products.

A transcendent, lush spa offers a bevy of tantalizing, worry-smashing, soul-transporting treatments. (Defies description, actually.)

The Bachelorette Party Package - the last fling before the ring. Boom.

Shimmering, sparkling beaches with glistening sand have perch-worthy cabanas.

There's an expansive main pool, swim-up bar, a multi-level Freestyle pool and four other pools all waiting for you.

What We'd Change

The drive from the airport might seem like it's far, but once you arrive, you're going to be swept away. And, be prepared to receive a cocktail upon arriving because the staff at Breathless knows you're ready to party!

Why You Should Go

The pheromone-raising monthly fetes like Menage a Deux a Trois and weekly bashes like Dirty Dancing Night.

You can go topless horseback riding, if you dare.

Water sports galore: Kayaking, windsurfing, catamaran, paddle boating, and more.

Pool aerobics for those who want to burn calories to keep that beach bod.

There's a coral reef 1.5 miles from the main land - dreamy perfect for snorkeling or scuba.

Check out the nearby historic sites - 16th century Mediterranean village on a dramatic cliff, or the south-east tip of the island for turquoise water.

The dolphins are near for a fun day trip. But you might be too busy making history of your own.

A casino that is the very definition of world-class. You have to see to understand.
