Not a bad resort... here is my honest review

Let me start off by saying thir their all inclusive drinks are very watered down; we just ended up ordering non alcoholic drinks because we went to relax mostly; but it was disappointing. Okay now with the dining... the breakfast and lunch buffet was actually great the one downstairs had way better options but the staff always says it's full so we said we already had a seat and they let us in and we never had any issues finding a table. The dinner options varried some restaurants mimicked an american high end restaurant with small portions and nice presentations but the taste was not good. We did however have the mexican the hibachi and the seafood and they were all good. We also went to a dominican spot in downtown and the food was great (car provided by the hotel picked us up and dropped us off). Now the staff ... they were okay they were not super friendly but they did their jobs. The one thing is i went with my friend we were two women and constantly got wistled and cat called in spanish (which i speak very well) by the MALE STAFF. I felt uncomfortable walking in my one peice bathing suit so i got a cover up and still it continued. One night we went to a restaurant and one of the waiters must have walked out of a side door when we were walking to our room he whistled to try to get our attention. At check out I initially wanted to complain but the bar however mistakenly added (A LOT) of premium liqor to our room which we did not have and then later realized it was an error. We were not aksed about our stay at checked Out. The wifi that was not included was okay not stable though and on the last day it pretty much stopped working. Overall the hotel was nice but i have been to resorts just as nice or even nicer where the service and food and entertainment was better and I wasn't being harassed by male staff. i would recomment for a family (especially children) as they have pool areas with slides and such. The entertainment for adults was limitedt; both of them were lacking in my opinion. Also excusions were good we walked on the beach to the princess portion and found a water excursions that were way less. The rooms were very nice and comfortable and the hotel was super nice and CLEAN. The only thing There are beach towels on chairs to reserve them; so if you get to the pool area at 9 am you will not find a lounge chair which i found very bothersome but we did not have that problem at the beach.

Don't go if you are dominican

Overall, the room was good. it was always clean, the bed was not as comfy, but compared to our horrible experience, the room was the only place we wanted to be. The kid area was the highlight of the resort, my daughter loved it there. However, the food at all restaurants had no taste. It only tasted like flour. Eating fries, chicken, fish, pasta, was all the same... it had the same taste. The entertainment was dull. The pools were nice. The service was HORRIBLE! If my husband, tan skinned, spoke spanish, they would totally disregard him. If I fairly light skinned, spoke only English to the staff, we would get decent treatment. Very disappointed! Would never go back and definitely not recommend.

nice week in punta cana

when we arrived, i thought i had booked the main resort - however, they told me i would be in the adult's only hotel - this was a blessing in disguise (maybe) I do not know if the rooms in the main hotel are nicer or modern than the rooms in the adult's only hotel. Our room was ok - the bathroom was small, the shower poor, and not up to the standards found in similar hotels we have stayed at in Punta Cana. The mini-bar was never re-filled, even after asking; the room was twice made up after 4:30pm when we were out all day since 7:00am The beach was beautiful; the bathrooms and bars were convenient and nice. The amin buffet was good as well as La Brisa (for lunch) - wish there were more choices to go for breakfast. Food everywhere was good - however, the desserts were not that great (selection good - taste not so good Reservations for restaurants were easy Getting around on the "train" was good For families - a great place For couples - being subject to children at the main hotel pool and restaurants was not ideal Been to Punta Cana eight (8) times - we try a different place each time - this place is in the top 5

Overall Great Time

Overall our vacation was great. Helped that we had a large group with us to keep us entertained and always laughing. We only went to 2 restaurants while at the resort (Steakhouse and Hoye 19) and both could have had better service. Did not enjoy the food at Hoye 19 but the Steakhouse was delish! Buffets were always clean for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We mainly ate at the sports bar Strikers and the food was always great. We had our wedding ceremony on the beach and everything was beautiful. The coordinator did a great job with everything. Once we went to the reception it was also great. Such an amazing day and recommend to anyone looking to get married destination that Barcelo is the way to go. The beach is beautiful, the pools are huge, and the rooms are very nice.
