Ready to clock out for some real family time? Grab a swimsuit, and head for the
sugary sands of Bavaro Beach at Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe in Punta Cana. In
fact, the seductive, blue waters and luscious palm trees prompted National
Geographic to dub this stretch one of the world's best beaches. As one of the
biggest hotspots for divers, the sparkling, turquoise sea promotes guests to
seek out hidden treasures in the coral reefs. If you are still a little green,
you can still get your feet wet by earning PADI-diving certification. Deluxe
beach beds, a mix of adult and family pools and separate family-friendly and
adults-only wings increase the appeal of this Dominican Republic getaway.

Great place - good value
My only other point of reference was last year's trip to the RIU Palace.
RIU staff was more friendly, but Barcelo's warmed up to us after a couple days. I think its the just the enormity of the place.
Also, the RUI breakfast was 10x's cleaner and better. RUI had caviar and things like passion fruit and let me say it again, was a lot cleaner.
We also spent the money on the French Resturant La Comedia, it was definitely not worth the extra money. We also think we got sick there.
They ran out of Foie Gras. While the menu had Beef Wellington, Lobster Themador, Crepe Suzettes ect the quality is not there. We have eaten at Commanders Palace, Picasso ect and this place was not even close.
Make reservations for Le Fuentes - Spanish and Mexican the food was exquisite. And I believe Le Fuentes and La Comedia share a kitchen. Also the lack of California wines was disappointing.
Positive - The Disco and Casino are fanastic - staff was great and disco was fantastic.
Beach goes without saying was great. We walked 2 miles down to the flea market to get wife's hair braided and I expected something disgusting, but it was clean and happy and there was a small beachfront rest that was outstanding.
Bar and bartenders were the highlight of the trip. They are fun.
One word to everyone. The working people here are kind good people, please open up your hearts and wallets to them. I go to the bank and get $200 in one dollar bills and it makes everyone's day, even mine.
I will be back, this is a great place.
This was my first time to Punta Cana and the barcelo bavaro palace deluxe was a beautiful resort! The room was super clean as the hotel grounds were kept immaculate! Everything was great except the shops are located at the end of the adults only hotel and they don't let you walk through with the kids unless you walk through the beach which is quite a walk. Also the food was not good but I don't think that was a hotel issue it's probably just the Dominican food, my kids ate nothing but fries and ice cream and my daughter got sick but again it's probably just change of environment. So all in all the hotel was beautiful and the service was great but the only thing I wishes is that they had a restaurant with a American menu.
Would recommend this place to anyone. Upgrade to premium was well worth it! I would only say that the whole resort credit is not what I believed it would be. But other than that I cannot wait to go back!
The resort itself was gorgeous, and beach, pools and ground incredible. Based on the resort itself, I would recommend it whole heartedly to anyone.
With that said, we were very disappointed in the service. This is our 13th trip to the Caribbean, so we are quite used to "Island Time" and actually welcome it. The service at this resort made Island Time look like Speedy Gonzalez on speed. Trying to get water for the entire table (there were 7 of us) at the buffet restaurants during breakfast or lunch was impossible, ditto with coffee for the 4 adults. you were better off getting your drinks yourself. Several times the staff would grab the half eaten plate still being eaten off the table, but left the empty dirty plate pushed off to the side. Service in the a la carte restaurants and bars wasn't much better. We waited a long time to even have our orders taken, even longer to get drinks and food.
In the bars, we ended up getting our own drinks. After 3 different waitresses took our drink orders and never brought them to us, we gave up. On the rare occasion we did get waited on, we tipped, hoping that would entice them to come back. Didn't work.
For a new facility, with a well known chain name, we were quite disappointed. We finally concluded that the staff did enough to keep their jobs and no more. This entire attitude was totally new to us, as 11 of the previous trips to the Caribbean, we've always had great service, and staff that appreciated us tipping them.
We met other families there that had the same opinion we did of the service, so it wasn't just us.

which hotels have a clothing optional beach
1 year, 22 months ago
Ted
Cheap Caribbean only has a few properties that have a "clothing optional" policy. They include Couples Tower Island, Club Ambiance and Hedonism in Jamaica. The Temptations resorts also have a topless option as well. Feel free to call one our experienced destination specialists to discuss additional options.
ccsusan1
Barcelo - the woman can go topless in beach area only
EvelynJ
I don't know of any nude beaches in Punta Cana. I can tell you however, that Bavaro Palace Deluxe does not have a nude beach.
whoizzy
The north section of barcelo bavaro palace had topless option
Spinderella
Barecelo Bavaro Deluxe has 3 beaches, 1 of which is nude and adults only.
Devildog108
Barcelo Bavaro Palace de Luxe has pool for adults only. I did see several topless ladies bathing in the sun at the beach.
Napoleon42
Dominican Republic has law prohibiting nudity, so doubt you will find an official nude beach. Would suggest a resort which is adjacent to natural beach without buildings around.
Kilbourn
This beach is a non nude beach.

Last time we were in Punta Canta in Jan. it was cold and rainy. We have been leery of going back ever since. Did we just hit a bad week or is that fairly normal. Want to try it again but that pretty much ruined our last vist.

January is a high season for travel. The average temperature is 81F.
The average yearly temperature is 80F. Tropical storms are possible during rainy season, June through October.
KellyCC
Our family went the same week in early January for the past two years. The days were 85 degrees and lows at night in low 70's. The weather was picture perfect. We got incredible tans and went to the pool and beach the entire week. It rained one evening about 10 pm for about 15 minutes and the following morning when we were leaving for an hour or so off and on but you could tell it was going to clear and would be another great day. Actually went back there two years in a row because of the weather and some of the other resorts didn't have nearly as nice temperatures. Good Luck!
PuntaCaners
I was just there 1/9 - 1/15 and we had just missed a few days of rain... but we had 80+ degrees and sunny with no humidity the whole time we were there. Only got 10 minuts of rain early, early one morning.
Deedles0215
we went in may..had 1 day of rain, other than that..great climate!

My daughter (age 30) and I parasailed. The operator of the excursion swam up to my daughter at the beach and offered para sailing for $75 for both of us. I thought we were a bit crazy to take him up on his offer but it was fine and we had fun. My sons and daughter (ages 23, 27, 30) went Dune Buggying for $65 each and they had a great time, although they got very muddy, so you have to plan for that. They swam in a cave as part of the excursion.
Nonny
They vary in distance. Some are close, about 15 minutes, but we went on one that was a 2 hour drive. You also have to go to other resorts to pick up others. This might add some time.
JoeMsg1588
they include snorkle, kayak, paddle boats. everything else you would have to pay for.

We had all inclusive bracelets. FREE water activities include the kayak and paddleboat. No excursions are free. I went on a safari through BAVARO RUNNERS. It was the best!

Is the beach calm and with no waves in during the month of May?4 answers
1 year, 15 months ago
Irena21
The beach in Punta Cana is generally pretty calm and the waves not very big, unless of course, there is a storm brewing. The larger waves are usually seen a bit farther offshore and lose their strength once they hit the reef .
ccsusan1
Always calm with no waves because the beach is bordered by a natural aquarium that keeps waves and sharks away.
A2parasiempre
The waves mostly break about 200 yards from coast. The only waves you might see or feel are from the boats.
JoeMsg1588
We just came back...the beach is AWESOME ! ! No waves...crystal clear water...wonderful.

The all inclusive plan at the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe includes the buffet restaurants. The specialty restuarants are available for an additonal cost to call guests unless you upgrade to the Club Section of the resort.
MeganCC
Includes all but the French restaurant.
Kilbourn
All restaurants. The food at the buffets and sportsbar are not that good. The French Restaurant, La Comedie and Mexican restaurant, Mexico Lindo were our best meals. You will also need to make a reservation for the restaurants.

You can eat at all. Some require reservations and the French Rest. is an additional cost.
pdrusmc
No. But the HOYO 19 restaurant near your room has the best food.
JoeMsg1588
golf room is awesome..brand new and very comfortable..when we arrive they moved us to the beach complex, but it was older and not as nice..so we moved back to golf area.
buffets are open on certain hours of the day..there's one other restaurant open all day and night, more of a sports bar. at night you can reserve at the "a la carte" restaurants....very nice and food is great..much better than buffet. It is included as part of the all inclusive package.
EJHM
No....you can eat at all restaurants...the French is extra...but you need/must make reservations to the a la carte restaurants....we stayed in a golf room as well just 2 weeks ago....so you will be fine.
JH320
Not at all. We were able to eat at any of the restraunts. There is a $15 per person charge for the french restraunt. Pay it...worth the price for sure. We even ate the buffet at the Bavaro Beach (next door) one day.
We loved the Golf location as we were traveling as a family. We had two 2 story 2 bedroom/2 bath units.
Try the Hole 19 restraunt. Its right where you are staying. Hidden gem !! You can order breakfast, lunch and dinner off the menu. We never had to wait and got great service. So relaxing there.

How do I get from the airport to this resort?6 answers

Taxi service.
JoeMsg1588
CheapCaribbean.Com has a shuttle service which costs $25 per person roundtrip. It is worth it, they'll take care of you..no hassle. I do not recommend doing otherwise because when you get to the airport there's tons of people wanting to sell you stuff...can get really annoying..better to go with the shuttle service. 20min from airport..taxis are also available..not sure how much they charge though.
EJHM
We took a shuttle service booked thru Cheap Caribbean. Very efficient and quick. Resort is just 10-15 minutes away. They were also there on time to pick us up for our departure.
Keli
We booked a private transfer and although it was a little more I am glad we did. We had no wait to get to the resort or on our return trip to the airport.
SteelCity
We booked through the resort and paid cash for the round trip when we landed and were at the airport. There were only 2 of us, but we could have fit 6. Worth the price. We had not hassles.
Pittsburgh2012
we paid an extra $20 per person thru cheapcaribbean for a van. it was easy to find and only took about 15 minutes to get to the resort from the punta cana airport. they also took us back to the airport.

August weather3 answers
Does anyone know what the weather is like in the month of August? Does it rain a lot? Also which room is the best to book?
1 year, 12 months ago
Virginia USA
The average high temperature in August is 87, with an average low of 76. The average rainfall is 4.1 inches for the month of August. It is the rainy season, so it can rain a bit more than the rest of the year. The resort offers a wide selection of room categories, and which room is best would depend on your individual needs.
KristinCC
We stayed at the Gulf section, not next to the beach, but the rooms are brand new and super relaxing. The areas next to the beach (at lower price than Jr. Suites and more upscale rooms) are slightly older even though they have been refurbished. We didn't have a beach view anyway so going to the Golf area was great.
EJHM
We went in August. Weather was beautiful until Tropical Storm Isaac came nearby. We escaped the storm but had 3 days of clouds. The family Junior Suite was great - 2 bedrooms, 2 baths

All food - you get to choose between two buffets and about 6 a la carte restaurants - this includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack! You only pay for room service if you choose to use it.
All alcohol - unless you want to pay for a higher quality.
I never spent a dollar on food/drinks!
missa685
Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner and alcohol is included in the all inclusive however snacks are not included unless you take something with you such as fruit from the meals for later. Snacks in the shop are very expensive ($7.00 for a bag of chips) so bring your own with you expecially if you have kids.
IslandLover75
You get drinks and eat at all restaurants free. However, you do have to make reservations for certain restaurants. The paddleboat and kayak are free water sports. All others you have to pay for. The free drinks are sugary and watered down. You have to pay for beer. The brand of beer there is PRESIDENTE. I'm not sure of the taste. There are no snacks unless you take some fruit from the buffet ( I took an apple and banana back to the room). Room service is not free.

What will the weather be like the end of october?2 answers
7 months ago
Mary
The weather in Punta Cana during October tends to be less intense in terms of storm activity than the previous month. During this month the temperature in the area also starts to decrease. The temperature ranges from 86ºF in the middle of the day to 74ºF at night time. While some tropical storms might hit the Dominican Republic during October it is less likely to happen than in September. Don’t forget that the very high humidity can make the temperature feel higher than it is. October is quite rainy and can be considered the month with the highest rainfall with an average of 6.0 inches of rain.

It was rainy cause of the hurricane Sandy

To have the Club level amenities, you have to be booked in a Club level room. If you have an existing reservation and wish to upgrade, please call 1-800-915-2322 and speak with an existing reservations agent for pricing information.
KateHCC
the key words you need to look for are "Club Premium" if yours says that then you have the VIP. and if you do.... when you first arrive to the resort you will of course be greated by the bell boys and hopefully your rep. we had Felix and he was really good!! but they will tell you to go to one of the lines on the left or right but if you are club premium don't wait in those lines. on the left side as you are walking in go past the normal check in and you will see a room with glass doors that says Club Premium. GO straight there!!!

How are the drinks and are any american beers because the Dominican beer are not the best?5 answers
7 months ago
NY
A selection of international drinks are available including wine, mixed drinks and beer as part of your all inclusive package. The brands can vary depending on availability, but the brand will most likely be local to the Dominical Republic. American brands may be available for purchase in the hotel gift shop or in the shops located in town.
KateHCC
The drinks are great, not watered down. You choose how much alcohol you want in the drink in most cases. No American beers, but Presidante is the island beer and its a similar light beer. With all of the cool island drinks they have going around I barely even drank beer. And this is coming from a Sams Adam fan. Best island drink MAMAJUANA. A secret island blend or rum red white honey and island herbs. Everytime you order it the natives get very excited and make the experience very fun/funny. I brought back 2 bottles with me fro the States.
TheJoker
The drinks were good! but Im not a fruity drink person. They do not have any american beers but I thought their beer "Presidente" was really pretty good!
NickieB
The bar between the casino and the disco have the best drinks. The beach bars are kind of weak. The only beer they have is El Presidente.
JAT1313
The beer of choice their is PRESIDENTE. I haven't tried it though.

What is the management doing to change the "poor service" at check-in?2 answers
Much of the customer responses show that the hotel has an issue with service - especially at check-in and elsewhere on the property?
Minnesota
As always, if you encounter issues at the resort, speak with the front desk and call us if you cannot get it fixed (we are here to help you in escalated situations and it is often times easier to assist while you are still at the resort). From reading the reviews, the majority seem to be at check in and due to the language barrier. The resort is a larger property and check in does tend to take a little while to get through. One of the most popular difficulties our clients encounter is the language barrier--you have decided to travel outside of the United States and to a country who's primary language is not English. Patience goes a long way and there is always someone there who you will be able to communicate with. Regarding towels, many resorts will ask that you use a towel as often as you are comfortable as it not only saves on water, but helps preserve the environment. We do work closely with our resorts and they want you to enjoy your stay, so it is very important that you keep your lines of communication open for them to work with you to ensure you enjoy your stay.

I used the premier club service and did not have any problems. Checked in about 25 minutes and checked out in 15 minutes. The premier club has its own guest relations area.

Hotel Description
Barcelo Bavaro: Sparkling Shoreline, Signature Golf and 24-Hour Casino
Ready to clock out and invest in some real family time? Then grab a swimsuit and head for the
sugary sands of Bavaro Beach at Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe in Punta Cana. In
fact, the seductive, blue waters and luscious palm trees prompted National
Geographic to dub this stretch one of the world's best beaches. As one of the
biggest hotspots for divers, the sparkling, turquoise sea promotes guests to
seek out hidden treasures in the coral reefs. If you are still a little green,
you can still get your feet wet by earning PADI-diving certification. Deluxe
beach beds, a mix of adult and family pools and separate family-friendly and
adults-only wings increase the appeal of this Dominican Republic getaway.
While the siren call of the beach is irresistible by day, after sunset, Lady
Luck beckons you at the 24-hour casino while mix-master DJs and Vegas-style
extravaganzas keep you partying well into the night. A Broadway-style theater
serves up the best in nightly entertainment. From Spanish tapas to contemporary
Japanese cuisine, a tempting array of dining options invite guests to try anew
dish every night. Don't miss an opportunity to visit El Coral Restaurant where
the seafood is so fresh it was swimming while you were at breakfast.
If you've got energy to burn, there's plenty to do at Barcelo Bavaro Palace
Deluxe, Punta Cana! WIth plenty of all-inclusive perks, you play a few games in
the regulation-sized baseball diamond, soccer field, or get wet at the resort's
water park. If you would rather tee-off, check out the signature-18-hole golf
course-designed by one of the world's most inventive golf architects, P.B. Dye.
Want to enjoy your vacation at a slower pace? Opt for pampering at the hotel's
premier spa, Barcelo U. Nothing beats their sublime, hot-stone massage on the
terrace with Bali beds. If you to spend a lazy afternoon with your family,
check out the resort's ample shopping at the 16-store arcade. After a
fun-filled day exploring the area, nothing says relaxation like a refreshing
pool-side pina colada from El Cielo Bar.
When you need some relaxing downtime, we love the new, 610-square-foot
Junior Suite Deluxe with its Jacuzzi on the terrace. Traveling with the family?
We recommend the two-bedroom Family Deluxe Room units that feature two separate
bedrooms and two terraces, one with Jacuzzi. If family time has become
scattered at best, then why not spend some quality time together at Barcelo
Bavaro Palace Deluxe in Punta Cana!
