Beautiful Resort

My husband and I visited Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe with our two young kids. The resort is clean and beautiful. Our kids loved the free water slides in the kids pool area (not Pirate Water Park- that's an extra $15 to enter). Make sure to bring along long pants if you want to take advantage of all of their restaurants that need reservations. Buffet food was great. Night show entertainment was fun. The beach was clean with minima waves. They had free kayaking and windsurfing for us to take advantage of. It was an overall great vacation.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe

My sister and I stayed at this resort in the beginning of August. The service was terrible. There was one night where I had a medical issue and could not leave the room to go to dinner so my sister went downstairs to get me something to eat and was given a hard time about bringing food to the room. I understand there is such a thing as hotel policy, however there is also such a thing as basic human empathy and understanding. Hotel staff was very rude and unaccommodating in this situation when they should have been helpful and polite. Generally speaking hotel staff was extremely unprofessional. There was one night in particular when we went to dinner at the Japanese a la carte restaurant and my sister was being hit on by not one, but four, different waiters. We were so uncomfortable that we could not even finish our dinner. It was not so much flirtatious as it was predatory. The food at this hotel was also extremely disappointing. Everything was salty, fried and terrible in quality. I did not feel like I could go swimming in a bathing suit after the options I had to eat for lunch. The saving grace of this hotel was the breathtaking beach and the clean and beautiful pools. Our room was also very nice. After our experience here we would never recommend this hotel to anyone we know.

About the resort

Resort was excellent clean comfortable plenty of beach chairs. Lots of activities for kids with their own water park. Nice rooms clean. One big problem when house keeping cleans the room they let all the mosquitos go inside while they're cleaning the room for an hour or so and while you're sleeping you get bitten plenty of times Another problem is getting a reservation in the restaurantsame is because everyone wants to eat there for one reason food is good there and if you eat in a buffet food is garbage and same thing every day and night very bad quality. Except fruits which is the only good thing there and good bread and paster.ies

Should've gone with a 2 or 3 star resort

I booked this resort for our honeymoon/yearly family vacation. I am always the one to look on the positive side of things, but the service here made this hard to do. From the moment we got there, we didn't even get half a smile at the check in desk. He didn't inform us of anything. He just took our info and gave us our room keys. More than 24hours later, we came to find out that we needed to make reservations at the restaurants in order to have dinner in them. We found this out with the travel agency, not at the check in desk where they were supposed to tell us. When we got to our room after check in, we went straight to shower only to find that there was only 1 towel and 1 beach towel. We were 4 in total. I called for more, but never received them. We waited 2 days for them. We only got them after I complained to the travel agency. Our tv wasn't working so we had to call a technician. Our fridge was leaking. Our pillows had a foul smell that stank up the whole room. I had to ask for them to be removed. This was a Junior deluxe suite too. Not a standard. The agency also sent us a bottle of rum to apologize for the inconveniences, but the bottle never made it to our room. They were not ready for our arrival. They knew that we were a family of 4 and we requested 2 beds. We only got one. Our oldest daughter had to sleep on the hard wood sofa with a thin pillow that sits on top. When I went to the lobby to book a 2 night stay for a family member coming in, I was treated horribly by the clerk that took care of us. He had me wait for a whole hour and when we were finally done, he shooed me away with his hand. Just horrible!!! My family member got to the hotel and at the entrance was held up for a whole hour because they didn't wanna call or check if he had a reservation.. We had reserved a dinner and we got it for 11 pm. We asked for it to be changed to earlier because of the time. Our daughters are 1 and 6. We got a whole run around. I told them from the beginning that it was fine if it couldn't be done. They did this for 2 hours. By the time we went to our reservation, the staff knew my story. The hostess was mocking me. She said "oh, yeah. You're the one with the 2 kids and HAD to have your reservation moved to earlier because it gets harder for you guys." I said. "Oh, that's nice. Everyone knows my story." What is the worst part of all that I was told by a staff member that they wish they could tell me that I'm the only person the resort has treated like this. But unfortunately it happens a lot lately! The beach was great. They were a few great people that were super nice. The pools were good. The jacuzzi in the room was a plus. The nightly shows were good. The private dinner on the beach was awesome. Bottom line, I spent all this money that I could've saved by going to a 3 star resort and probably have received better service.

What's to Love

It's all-inclusive, all-family-centric and all-Dominican dreamy.

The sugar-white sands of Bavaro Beach - one of the 10 best beaches on the planet.

Anxiety-ousting treatments like the Oxygen Facial & Vichy showers, plus the killer view.

Diving/snorkeling at the coral reefs and ogling all the underwater treasures.

The B-Rooms with the cushy, soft bed and raindance showers.

Getting splashy with the wee ones at The Pirates Island Water Park and Barcy Water Park.

Teeing off at the signature golf course designed by the inventive architect, P.B. Dye.

What We'd Change

This place is huge, and we really wish getting from point A to point B were easier, but hey, a complimentary train makes navigating the complex pretty simple.

Why You Should Go

It's just 20 short minutes from the airport - your dreamy Punta Cana vacay will start pronto.

You can hop on a kayak. Or grab a game of badminton. But boredom is never allowed.

The Junior Suite Deluxe has a Jacuzzi on the terrace. Muy splurge-worthy.

If you don't want to walk, a complimentary train will tote you around the complex.

Lady Luck is waiting for you in the 24-casino. Don't disappoint her.

There are 7 tennis courts - bring your A game and kick some butt.
