CheapCaribbean really stands for 'cheap'!

If you're looking for great deal for money don't expect anything great, it's just cheap. Check in staff was very robotic, not very polite and didn't tell us half of info we really should have known. Accommodation is quite ran down even the room you would pay extra charge for. Our air-condition didn't work and we spent every day trying to get hold of somebody - it took them 4 days to finally move us to better room for the last night of our stay.... no comment! We've been told that mini bar is filled only once in a week! The only place you could have gotten the small water bottle was in the VIP beach area. We also had to pay for safe deposit box key....ridiculous!!! On the website it says that there are 10 restaurants but really you can only go to 3 if i'm not counting buffet. Without any asking if it actually suites you or not they automatically book you to 3 random restaurants in random times and if you want to change it you would have to spent yet another hours from your pressures vacation time to stand in the line or to chase somebody. Bellini restaurant was the worst we actually left the food on the table and went for buffet instead... The actual beach is pretty dirty and the sand is definitely not as light as on the picture they show. The VIP beach area is crowded with cabanas and the music is playing all day long from hundred of speakers hanging everywhere. So if you are looking for romantic, relaxing and hustle free place to spend your one vacation in a year just spend more money and go somewhere really nice not this cheap promise-land! ...And if you're still set to go whatever you do stay away from resort agents who wants to hook you on membership or shareholding all they'll end up doing is driving you around and showing you much nicer places within resort you don't have an access to....very cheerful on the first day of your vaca!

Don't Go Here

Although the Cofresi had a few pros, I would not go back there again. The food is alright, they give you enough options, and there is a surplus of pools and beaches. We always had somewhere to go, Unfortunately the cons were enough to keep us from ever using this resort again. First, there was NO AIR CONDITIONING in the entire resort. We slept in a hot room for 6 nights and the sheets and all of our stuff was damp and moist from the heat. We called the front desk every hour and they just kept lying to us telling us they were sending someone immediately. We had to be moved four times where we lost a bunch of our stuff from packing and unpacking multiple times. Second, the people who work at the resort are rude. Some of them are very friendly, but most give you an attitude or a hard time because you don't speak the native language. Bartenders would ignore us, or purposely not bring out all of the stuff that we would order. Third, room service was terrible. Our towels and wash towels were never stocked, and our waters were never stocked even though we had no AC in our hotel rooms. We had to call room service a bunch of times before someone would actually come and restock everything. All in all the hotel may seem appealing because it's cheap, but you will be way better off just paying a little extra for a better hotel with better service. The people at the Cofresi did not care about your feelings at all.

Great Resort!!!

Hi....if you are like me, you have read about 8000 reviews for all the Cheap Caribbean resorts. I always liked the newest ones because it gives you a sense of what is going on right now. We just got back from a 7 day/ 6 night vacation at the Cofresi Palm Beach resort. Here were the Pros and Cons (and I made sure I kept an accurate account): CON: Check-In is a MESS. No organization so you might as well work your way up to the front desk so you are not stuck there for 2 hours. Hopefully, they put a better system in place. However, once you check-in, all your worries go away!! PRO: Our room was incredible (we were in the 305 building). Air conditioning worked well all week. Room was big with a private balcony (you could see the ocean from a distance). We had kids in the room below us and music playing around the resort at night but the room was sound-proof. PRO: The resort grounds (as I had previously read) was kept incredibly well. It is true you walk a lot and seems like always uphill or using stairs so if you have difficulty walking, this is the not the place for you. We felt it was a good way to burn off the extra calories from the vacation so we did not mind. Trolley service from resort to resort was a lot better than I had read and the Bell Hops really will assist to your every transportation need. CON: The concierge (we had Alberto). First day, he is your best friend and will take you to breakfast in his "Limo". We sat him down and said we did not want to be brought for any timeshare pitch. He promised us he wouldn't but that was a complete lie. He took us into the VIP World and then he disappeared and acted as if he did not know us the rest of the trip (even when we saw him). Well, we did get a free bottle of Mama Juana and the pitch is about 30-45 minutes long. The villa is incredible to see (how high-class lives) and if you have the money, the timeshare deal is really good. But this gets a 'Con' for the "con-job" Alberto did to us. After the first day, you tell the Concierges you went through the deal and they just smile and leave you be. By Day 3, the majority know who you are. PRO: The staff is incredible. From the Front Desk, to Guest Services, to the bartenders, to the wait staff. Of course, if you bring about $50 in singles and you tip all week, they treat you better. We had a maintenance guy find us two coconuts and he opened holes and gave us straws. What made it nice was that we had inquired two days earlier and he remembered (Carlos was his name). CON: Night life was just OK. The couple shows we saw, they worked their butts off with Romeo 911 as a great MC. But by 10:30pm, it really is over. The "club" they have called ICE was horrendous because it felt like the Devil's Den walking downstairs into it. I am not exaggerating to say it felt like 150 degrees in that hole. Until they cool that place off, it ruined the night life for us. PRO: Dining options. This is where I differ from most people's options. You get to choose from a whole slew of different restaurants. Since we were staying for 6 nights, we got three guaranteed reservations. However, if you walk down to Guest Services by 11am and ask for a change or to get additional reservations, they will accommodate the best they can. We ended up with 5 reservations throughout the week and they even added us to a restaurant after 3:30pm because the Sunday night party was cancelled. Best restaurants we felt were the Asian and the Blue Lagoon. Mexican, Italian, and Rodisio was OK. The buffet options were fine with plenty of food being cooked for you or in chaffing dishes. You won't got hungry and there is enough variety. PRO: VIP Beach (which was included in our vacation package). Here is where you felt "special". Get their early to claim a bed with a canopy and then all day being served drinks and food at your bed. The Sushi bar was also a very nice perk in this package. Internet was available at this beach but not very stable. PRO: Excursions. We went on two of them (1/2 day Dune Buggies and the full day 3-in-1 Excursion (Waterfalls/Horseback Riding/Zip Lines. Both excursions from Amstar (Cheap Caribbean) and both were incredible with the 3-in-1 highly recommend!!!! Easy to book when you get to resort and everything taken care of for you!! PRO: Cheap Caribbean Booking. From the moment I booked the trip to getting airport transfers to handling airline reservations and hotel accommodations are TOP NOTCH. Do not worry about using them. They are fantastic and will use them in the future for sure!! I hoped this helped. I wish everyone safe and fun travels!!! Tony from NJ

Disappointing, Smelled like sewage

We had a group of 10 meet at the resort. We have a lot of experience with all inclusives, but this was our first trip to the Dominican Republic. We were disappointed with several things at the resort. The first thing we noticed was the smell. Regularly, about 6-10 times a day all over the resort, we'd get hit with the smell of sewage. Like many all inclusive resorts, the drinks were consistently weak, they used extremely low shelf liquor. Whiskey was undrinkable, tequila nearly so. Bars were both understaffed and closed very early in the day. Most of the wait staff were rude. The buffet's had even more limited a selection than we were used to. There were some good things. The pools were clean and fun. The specialty restaurants had consistently good food, and the front office made a great effort to reschedule dinners. I would not recommend this resort.
