Amazing Resort, Average Food

We were so happy with the staff and the facilities here. The bartenders were amazing, the maids were friendly, and every single staff member says hello to you when you walk past them. They seem very eager to please and make sure you are having a great time. The rooms were some of the best I have seen in a resort. The spa was wonderful. We really enjoyed how nice and new the resort felt. Only two complaints: 1) The food is average. We really wished there was Dominican food or at least more Latino food. It seemed like they were trying to cater to an image of what they thought Americans would like... which ended up being French, Italian, Asian, and American restaurants. The ambiance and service were wonderful, but the food was just okay. The house wine was also really awful. Trust us, American tourists would love local Dominican food!! 2) When you first arrive, you will be pulled aside by a team member to talk about your "welcome breakfast" for the following morning. We've been to resorts, so we knew this was a sales presentation, but we went anyway for the free spa credit. The sales presentation the following morning was bearable, but the way we were pulled aside after checking in to the resort and chatted up for almost an hour was not ok. We slept 3 hours and traveled for 12 hours to get to the resort. We told the staff member that we were tired and that we would come the following morning for the welcome breakfast, but he continued to talk about the welcome breakfast and made us fill out several forms saying that we "wouldn't get our welcome gift" if we did not finish with him. My advice to the hotel is to just invite the guests to the welcome breakfast and leave it at that! People will still come. Or slip an invitation under their door. We were very frustrated and it made us not want to come to the breakfast (really, sales presentation). Other than these two complaints, this resort was fantastic. There was so much to do, it wasn't too crowded, and it was a relaxing and enjoyable time. We would definitely return to this resort or another Dreams resort!

Best resort in the Dominican Republic!

The resort is relatively new, which at first I was concerned about, but there was no need, since the resort was gorgeous and fully functional. Check in was a breeze, the hotel grounds were spotless, the rooms were very spacious and the staff was always so eager to help you and make your stay amazing. Their slogan was, "Welcome home," and to be honest they really treated you like family. The La Romana region was beautiful, the ocean was so clean and the beach was picturesque! They had a lovely breakfast every morning, made to order like omlettes or crepes. For dinner they had themed restaurants like the French or Japanese hibachi and I must say the food was delicious! way better than your standard resort food. Outside of the restaurants they had a signature cocktail nighty which was much enjoyed until you sat down for dinner. The resort had a daily list of activities so there was never a dull moment. However, the best part about the resort was in the little details. For an example, the flooring tiles that lined the resort were slip and heat resistant so you did not burn your feet traveling from the pool to your hotel room or the bathrooms. Also, on the beach they set up a pina colada station so the beachgoers never had to leave the sand to get a drink! Overall I would recommend this resort time and time again! wish I was there again now!

Family Girls Trip

Overall it was a very good stay and we enjoyed our time at the resort. There were a few bumps that made the trip good instead of great. To begin, the rep did not have our info when we arrived at the airport, so we had to wait for the next van. No fault of the resort, but apparently how the rep booked our vacation caused this. After over 10 hours traveling, you kind of just want to get to your room. The ride from Santo Domingo is about an hour to an hour and a half. So if you do shared transportation, this could be longer because they will stop at resorts on the way. When we finally arrived, we were greeted very warmly and received a cold beverage and towel and led to the check-in desk. Have a copy of your confirmation, for some reason they want one even though they have your info. Check-in was easy, they took our bags and then we were led to a golf cart where we received a tour and then brought to our room. We weren't sure at first, but our room did not seem very cool when we arrived. We thought maybe the air hadn't been on. Being exhausted, we ate and turned in very early. Throughout the night we could hardly sleep because our room was so warm. We also then realized our refrigerator did not work. I went to the front desk and reported and then we went about our day. After returning to the room mid-afternoon the problem was still not fixed. It took a few more phone calls, but finally we got moved to another room and it was a world of difference. The rooms are lovely, although if you look closely you can see that some of the finishes (paint, molding, etc) were rushed and a little messy. Not a big deal, but its there. If you have a swim up room, the pool is not private. People are walking past your pool and you share it with 2-3 other rooms. We even saw some kids walk over the shrubs to use someones pool. Still a nice touch, but you may be disappointed if you were hoping for privacy. Food is ok, not great, but you can find enough things that are good and even worth seconds. The coffee is amazing, loved the 24 hour coffee shop. The water is BEAUTIFUL! I've stayed in Punta Cana and to me it doesn't compare. The beach is nice, but a little steep with some rocks in the water. The staff was very quick with drink service on the beach. I didn't see a real benefit to the preferred club, other than the lounge, but maybe there were things I wasn't aware of. The entertainment staff tries very hard and do some great dancing. You can tell it is still a new resort and they are still working on a lot. The place were the shows are held, is not finished yet, but once they get dancing you don't notice. I think they need to get a little better at spraying for bugs. One night there was an infestation of flying ants. They were everywhere, on the lights, in the pools, on the balconies, etc. The night show was going to be by the pool but no one could stand being out their, so they had to spray again before the show started. I also noticed we got a lot of mosquitos on our balcony. This made it hard to ever sit out there and it always seemed like one or two got in our room when we opened the door. I definitely came back with a few bites. I think this is a great resort for couples, it was very quite and relaxing. I never felt over crowded or that we had to wait. Just enough to do if you are low key. On an average day, we ate breakfast, went to the pool, ate lunch, (pool, beach, or nap), got ready for dinner, ate, watched the show, and had drinks by the lobby before bed. There is a club on property, but we never checked it out because we had a kid with us. Keep in mind, if you do not speak Spanish, the resort could be challenging at times. There are enough staff that do speak English, but there are many that don't, or not very well. Again, having been to Punta Cana, most staff speak pretty good English, so I was surprised here. I speak Spanish, but most in my group did not. I would return to the resort, especially after it has had more time to work out a few things.
