Ever wish you lived on a tropical island? You can at least visit one when you
escape to an all-inclusive, diving paradise at El Cozumeleno Beach Resort.
Located in the northern Hotel Zone of Isla Cozumel, just five minutes from
downtown San Miguel, this family-friendly home away from home faces the clear
blue waters of the Caribbean against sands so white it's tough to spot
seashells.

To determine if you should read on, we are a family of 4 with a 10 year old and a 7 year old. Keep that in mind when reading...
We just wanted a quick, easy, quiet get-away. We went 4/27-5/2. We had great weather - 85 or so. The resort was much smaller than we are used to, which was intentional. It was refreshing to not have to walk for 10 minutes to get to the restaurant. The fancy restaurant was very good - but I actually really enjoyed the buffet - not because the food was better, but eating right on the beach was amazing. We could eat and then our kids could just hang out in the sand while we lingered at the restaurant while still watching the kids. I haven't seen that anywhere else. We stayed in a huge ground level room in the North end of the hotel, which was perfect. Was the room decor beautiful? No, but by the time all four of us unpacked our bags and unloaded our snorkeling gear, it really didn't matter. My 10 year old slept on one of the day beds so we didn't have to worry about him sharing with his sister. The room really sleeps 6 people. The maid was great -she even FOLDED the kids' clothes! It was quiet and clean. We were able to get a pool chaise and/or a beach chair under a palapa (is that what they are called) any time of the day. The snorkeling was great! Do what the other people suggested and walk about a 1/2 mile south and drift back. It was fun! Even our 7 year old could handle it with ease. Water/Beach shoes are a must! We rented a car, which we didn't plan on doing but got roped into it at the airport. It was easy and very safe to drive there and were really happy that we did it. Don't spend money on the shuttle that you can book with your trip. You can get a cab or you can spend $10 per person (each way) for a shuttle to get from the airport to El Cozumeleno. The waiters were great! They made whatever my kids wanted - whenever they wanted. I also read about the weak drinks - I beg to differ. We brought $200 in singles and tipped for everything. I really don't think that you need to do it, but it made us feel good and they really worked hard there. Everyone was very nice - but I have to say that everyone has been really nice at every all inclusive that we have been to in the past. We did meet a bunch of people who stay at El Cozumeleno every year for 12-15 years which says a lot about the place. This was our first time but we would for sure go back! We did not have our kids visit the kids club but they did play a lot of mini golf - right on the beach! Nice! Oh, don't touch the growth under the water on the pier. Both my daughter and husband got what we are calling "pier rash". It stung! We rubbed it with seaweed (apparently that is supposed to help) and Bactine. It went away in a day or two. All and all, this was an amazing, easy, and very relaxing trip! El Cozumeleno was amazing and so was Cozumel! It was a GREAT value! Don't hesitate to go here!
Cozumel was amazing and I can't say enough good things about El Cozumeleno and their staff. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant. The resort is beautiful and not so large that you need a golf cart to get around. You can easily go from one end of the resort to the other in less than a minute or two. Last year we stayed at a resort where you literally had to have a golf cart to get around so this was a pleasant change from that. The rooms were very clean and roomy. I would definetely recommend a ocean view room, we upgraded to one when we checked in and am so glad we did. Nothing beats waking up to that view! The water in front of the resort is crystal clear and full of beautiful fish. The resort checks out everything you need to snorkel and its FREE! There were lots of activities going on in and around the resort that were all free. We didn't really take advantage of any of it but it was there for every guest if thats your thing. Now let me say something about the food! We have stayed in all-inclusive resorts before and the food is usually just average at best. The food at El Cozumeleno was AMAZING!! By far the best food I've ever had at an all inclusive resort. I HIGHLY recommend El Cozumeleno and are already planning our next trip there!!
We had a great stay at the El Cozumeleno Beach Resort. The weather was fantastic and the view was breathtaking. We had no problems finding chairs at the beach or pool. We dined in the restaurant one night and the service was excellent. We had wonderful service the entire time we were there. The resort is very clean and comfortable. All travel accomodations went smoothly through Cheap Caribbean.

Hi, my family is wanting to take a trip on March 25 for 5 nights to Cozumel. My oldest son who is 27 will be flying out of Charlotte NC, I have another son that is 23 that can either fly out of Indianapolis IN or with the rest of us out of St Louis MO. My other sons are 25, 17, and 15. My husband is 51 and I am 45. I have been looking at the El Cozumeleno but if you know of something better or cheaper let me know. The main thing that we want is to be able to snorkel.

We offer customized airfare from many different airlines and even though you're traveling from mutliple departure cities, we are more than happy to help!
To customize your airfare for each passenger, you can call one of our sales reps at 1-800-915-2322 and they will be more than happy to price it out for you. Thanks!

My suggestion is that you fly directly to the island. Flying into Cancun added an extra 3-4 hours of travel. Not horrible, just meant I wasn't on the beach.

Go here if you want to snorkel!! Ask waiters for bread and you will have the time of your life. Great view! It was the cheapest thing that was worth the money.

Just looking at the age group, I think that your kids will be bored here. The couples are mostly older and the families are mostly younger (2-5 year old).
There are lots of places to snorkle in Cozumel that are easy to get to, so you don't have to worry too much about that.
KathrynH
If you want to snorkel this is the place to go! We just got back and you see fish literally 5 ft from the beach. We got to see sting rays, sea urchins, baracudas, crabs, packs of fish and dolphins (the dolphins we saw standing on the beach though). It is good for all ages and it was definitely the nicest hotel on the island. We did a tour and drove by the others so that's how I know.
ackerman824
Snorkeling is best with the glass-bottom boat tour that you can purchase with any deal. Don't be fooled by the boat when it arrives - it is SUPER fun!
Otherwise, I'd keep looking..... Read reviews. You can probably do better than El Cozumeleno.
Jeelli05
snorkeling was great at el cozumeleno. but we also went on a snorkeling excursion. I would strongly suggest that as well. resort you will see some variety of fish. excursion we saw barracudas, turtles, beautiful coral, hugeschools of fish, and a 6 foot shark
tucci
Cozumel is one of the best snorkel areas in the world. El Cozumeleno has decent snorkeling and provides equipment that you can check out one hour at a time and can only stay on premises. If you have your own equipment you can walk left of the hotel about 1/4 mile and drift back to the hotel for fantastic snorkeling. If you want to snorkel off the beach there are great bars and restaurants as you go around the island that promote this. Rent jeeps or scooters OR...El Cozumeleno will arrange a van for you for the day for your group. You can also take a boat...find a smaller company that takes no more than 15 people, and go to 3 reefs for about $25.00 US a person. The snorkeling is unbelievable.

Does El Cozumeleno Resort supply fins, mask and pump up vest for snorkeling?11 answers

Michigan City, IN
Snorkeling is available at the resort. Equipment is available as well. They may ask for a deposit prior to taking the equipment out into the water, which is usually refunded once everything is returned.
KateHCC
Yes. They offer life jackets not the pump up kinds though. We went snorkeling and did not use a life jacket. The salt water makes it unnecessary to do so.
Thom2954
There is a dive shop on the property and they will let you use all snorkeling equipment for one hour free of charge. Anything over that and they charge $10 for the day.
VickyfromColorado
yes, they do with a picture ID
dgkatz
They do supply fins, mask. Not sure the pump up vest.
lvbo
Yes they do. Its free, all you have to do is give a photo ID. Also--just FYI, we saw more fish at the resort than we did on our excursion! We took some fruit in the water and the fish went nuts! :-)
KelGav
I know they have fins and mask, not sure about the vest. I do believe so though. But I think they charge $10 to rent. We just brought our own. You can go to their website elcozumeleno.com and instant message them. They do speak fluent english.
ackerman824
Yes to fin, mask, snorkel - not 100% sure on the "pump up vest" though but I did see a few people with life jackets (which I assume you mean) on. Its a good place to snorkel but if you are experienced, walk down the beach, towards downtown area, to the little cove by the abandon resort and float back down to Cozumeleno; its about a half hour float and you see much more than at the resort.
CMDWonvacation
fins and mask are available for rent with a photo id. no vest
tucci
They supply fins and masks - no vests.
crusan
Yes they do...you can check them out for 1 hour at a time. You can only use them on the property...
