"To be honest, this is an older resort so don't expect flashy, shiny, State of the Art 'glitz' - but that is overrated anyway! This place was awesome! The food was outrageously delicious - no really..." – CSMnYM

ROOM LOCATION IS AWFUL

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE WAS WHAT I EXPECT FROM SECRETS EXCEPT THE LOCATIONS OF THE ROOMS AND TRANSPORTATION TO GET TO THE ROOMS AND DINING. ROOM SERVICE AND THE MAID SERVICE WAS CLEARLY NOT WHAT I EXPECT FROM SECRETS.

Fun time!

The resort was beautiful! All of the restaurants were pretty good! The market place for breakfast was not as good. We ordered room service once and that was tasty! We loved putting the food in the box and not seeing anyone. The mini bar was restocked everyday and had several types of soda and beer. The resort has premium booze but you had to ask specifically for it. Favorite restaurant was either the Asian place or the Italian. Loved laying by the pool and relaxing!! The spa was a great disappointment. I spent 100 dollars on just a gel manicure. It was not worth that at all the paint chipped the next day. Total waste of money. I would not suggest going there. The beach was decent but like the resort said in the info section not the white sandy Caribbean beaches. The staff at the resort was wonderful and always answered with "my pleasure" loved being there and miss is so much now!! The sunset every night was amazing. The room was also newly updated and very comfortable!

Fun time! Fun time!

Fantastic

The Secrets Papagayo resort was amazing. I've been to a number of similar places and this was by far my favorite. The service is great. The beaches and pools are great. Adults only was a game changer. The only thing that could improve would be the buffet, but my fiance and I alternated specialty restaurants every night to avoid that issue. Overall I'd give it just shy of 5 stars. Lou

Great Expectations

If Secrets is among the best all inclusive resorts, Secrets Papagayo may be the worst among the best. It is VERY nice. The rooms, pools, spa, restaurants etc. were very good, but when compared with other Secrets resorts, fell short. At other resorts the wait staff seem happy to serve and are always looking for ways to make your stay better. In Papagayo it was hard to find wait staff and they certainly didn't seem happy to be there. The exception to this was the entertainment team. They were awesome!! If I were to visit again (and I wouldn't) I would be sure to get a room within walking distance of the main area. Otherwise you have to call for a shuttle EVERYTIME you want to go to or from your room. Also, I felt like they were trying to sell me something from the moment I stepped out of the airport shuttle (club membership, special dinners, wine...). Secrets, you should keep this one on the down low.
