Good vacation

The resort was great! My boyfriend and I went just for vacation. The room was cleaned and new towels daily. The pool was nice and clean. Pool games all day were a lot of fun! Very entertaining. Beach was amazing even though the resort is on a peninsula. The beaches on the side of the resort makes the beach almost private. Found a nice ring from one of the vendors who come on the beach. There's always a server around to get you a drink by the pool/beach. All the food inside the resort was amazing! Lobster tail on seafood night at the main buffet was a surprise. Our favorite restaurant was the steakhouse we went their twice. Breakfast lunch and dinner choices there's something for everyone and they are always refilling the buffet. They do have a nice coffee bar in the lobby which was great to get desserts and sandwiches as a snack when they had them. The sports bar is open all night to drink if you really want to party. Everyone speaks English pretty much and is very nice and helpful!! If your a young couple with no kids I would recommend a adult only resort. There are a lot of kids and families at this one. I did stay for a week and it was lovely however this was my first time to Cancun I think next time I will stay somewhere else just to see other places. Also bring a lot of sunscreen the sunscreen I could have used a bottle a day. The sun is very hot and you will burn without it. The only issue problem I had was for the transfer home. (Which was brought through cheap Caribbean) ...Amstar rep told us to be ready to leave at 6:30am in the lobby our flight was leaving at 11:30am . Also we had no when we were leaving they gave us a pick up time and that was that...We were up and In the lobby at 6:30am. I thought they were picking up other people since it was a shared transfer so I called at 7:20am and they showed up at 8:15am. We got to eat breakfast and still made our flight so it all worked out . However if I didn't call no one would have picked us up. So call if they are late!! Our transfer there was perfect no problems . Enjoy your future vacation!!

LOVE THIS PLACE

Honestly we LOVE the RIu Palace Peninsula. This was our 3rd time staying there and we can't get enough!!! From the moment we walked in the door to our final day there we had the best experience. I felt like a regular there because so many of the staff remembered us from previous trips and the last time we were there was a little over a year ago. Alex the greeter is the best. As well as Cruz who serves cocktails on the beach! He even remembered that we loved peanuts and brought us some without even having to ask! The service is top notch. Every single worker is happy and does a great job. The food was excellent...so many choices to choose from and you are bound to find something you love. Breakfast for me was the oatmeal with coconut flakes and banana chips YUM. For dinner, Krystal's Steak is a must!!! Shout out to other staff members that made our trip memorable, Ismael, Fernando, Joshwar, Selene, just to name a few. You will love your stay there! It is definitely worth it. This will not be our last time there!

Excellent Facilities

This hotel has such an excellent architecture and design. Very clean rooms and grounds. We checked in late due to flight schedule and they were out of the special request I made for a higher floor. They upgraded us to a villa suite since we were celebrating my husbands birthday. There were about 7 restaurants and no need to make a reservations for dining. There was, however, only one lunch restaurant - buffet. Alcoholic drinks were not top shelf. A lot of blended drinks. It would really be nice if at least one pool was open till 10PM. Without serving alcohol at night. The beach party one night was a good touch. The other complaint I have is that the hotel does not have their own concierge to guide guest around the city/islands. There were only travel agents available that of course just wanted you to buy their excursions.

Most Relaxing Cancun Vacation Ever! July 2016

We have vacationed in Cancun for 15 years and this was the most relaxing Cancun vacation ever. The staff are excellent and go out of their way to assist in any way. The Steakhouse restaurant had Filet Mignon which was perfectly prepared. It was thick, deliciously seasoned and superb. The Lobster tail was not overcooked, it was large and delicious. These are on the menu every night. The International Buffet had prepared salads, desserts and sides. The choices of meats and entrees were varied and very good. There are 6 restaurants to choose from so you aren't bored. The sports bar is open 24hours a day. What a surprise to find that it has refrigerated cases with prepared sandwiches, salads, hamburgers that can be heated in the microwave, etc. ! This was great as we could take some for our plane ride home no matter what time we had to leave! It also had breakfast pastries 24 hours a day. The beach had an area with rocks and an area flat and sandy. Beautiful. Lobby Bar great. The room was lovely and on the 12th floor. Perfect view with very large balcony. It was a Junior Suite with the only negative being that the Jacuzzi tub was out in the room beside the bed. We put pillows on the corners of the tub at night so we wouldn't hit the corners on the way to the toilet. Check in and Check out was so easy and the location was a 4 min. bus ride to Plaza Caracol or a 20 minute walk. We have recommended this to friends and if we return to Cancun, this is where we will stay. a 4.5 star resort definitely!

What's to Love

All-inclusive everything: the cocktails, the grub, the utter awesomeness of it all.

The uber dazzling stretch of white sand, tropical flora and crystal clear aquamarine water.

Stress-ousting massages, steam baths and saunas at the delicious spa. It's a Melt-a-thon.

RiuLand - supervised activities for kids 4-12 while you get your drink & relaxation on.

The day trip to Isla Mujeres to see the sea turtles and all the electrically colorful fish.

The more-than-delish Mexican nosh spot and steakhouse. (Nom, nom, nom.)

Renting a moped or scooter and tooling around, taking in all the natural beauty.

Getting a bottle of tequila sent to your room for your birthday.

What We'd Change

While the nightly entertainment may not be for everyone, you are close enough to the heart of Cancun to find something that will strike your fancy.

Why You Should Go

It's just 13 miles away from the airport so that Beach Relief aka Your Vacay will start before you know it.

Mayan ruins are near (Chichen Itza) and for history buffs, it's a great dose of antiquity.

The resort is off-the-beaten path, but you can hope on a shuttle to the hot spots in Cancun.

There are oceans of water sports: kayaking, snorkeling, windsurfing and more.

When you're not in the luscious ocean, you can hit the gym or play beach volley ball.

Travelers report excellent service, that you'll feel like Beach Royalty. (It's a palace, after all.)

You can rent jet skis and for a fee, go scuba diving. Take the plunge.
