6th visit to Rui Caribe
This is our 6th visit to Rui Caribe. The size of the resort is just right. The staff is great. Dinning options are limited compared to big resorts, but they have improved on making reservations. You can now reserve for the current day and next day. We upgraded to a jr suite and were very happy with the extra room and the view from the patio.
Upon arrival, even after begging for a nice room prior to arrival and upon arrival at the front desk, they put us in a "deluxe ocean view room" with a view of nothing more than a palm tree. The room was ant infested and the bed was hard as a rock. After greasing up the front desk clerk, we were finally moved to a better room two days later. The "full gym" was as bad as those you would find at a cheap motel. The rest of the hotel was fine. Good food, good drinks, and good poolside service.

Good trip
This was my first time in Cancun and I had the greatest time. The service was great, started with everything set up and ready to go as soon as we got off the plane in mexico. The service was great, bringing me drinks when I was done with the last one. Pools were great for relaxing. Food was great, especially the steak house, some were hard to get into, but I figured out that before and got up early to make reservations. Room: bed was a little to firm for my liking, also I was expecting a room a little different, but my sister and I had an outside door only that was right by the pool, it was very nice on days were were at the beach anddidn't have to walk through the lobby, but looking at online pictures I was expecting something different (didn't complain because it was aweasome and who cares where your room is located at- I was in Mexico). We also booked a few trips outside of the hotel to visit while we were there, I would be very caution about asking about the quality of the trip, two out of three of our trips were very good, but the first one we had to find our own transportaion (bus) and watching all the other big boats and then we get on a very small boat (in the end the trip was fun). Be careful, we did get ripped off becuase of sunscreen, they want you to buy there's that organic and not filled with chemicals to kill the fish, so buy it once and don't forget it where ever you go.
Overall- great time and had a blast with my sister. I would deffinetly stay at a Riu hotel again and would really like to go back to Mexico in the future.

The brands of beer/alcohol that are served at the resort can vary, therefore we suggest checking with the resort directly for the most up to date information.

Dos equis, you do get used to it, but if you have a craving for American beer, there is a drug store located just outside of Riu Caribe that sells Bud Light, about $3.00US a can.
elijo2
Dos Equis only. Everywhere at resort.
wooden35
some mexican beer that had XXX on the can.
BronxBoi85
Not a beer drinker, my husband is. The XOXO beer is the primary and he was very happy that it was served very cold everyday

The beach is great, white sands and it feels like you are walking on powder and the water nice and warm.

Riu Caribe is a beachfront resort. The pyramid-inspired Riu Caribe sits on north Cancun Island between a 300 yard, white-sand beach and Nichupte Lagoon.
MariaCC
The beach is nice. Water and sand are beautiful. Beach chairs and shade are plentiful. Water was a little rougher and cooler than I hoped (late January).
pspotyraj
Absolutely incredible. I just returned from Cancun and the beach is 2 steps from the hotel and absolutely gorgeous. I have never seen water that is so blue / green and so warm!

How is the night life on the property ?2 answers

NY
The resort does offer nightly live music, shows, evening programs and also has the Pacha Nightclub on property.
MariaCC
There was a lot to do during the evening hours. Sometimes there would be vendors outside. There was typically always a band on the main stage and something going on at the Calypso bar.

Does this include the transfer from the airport to the resort?3 answers
5 months ago
New Jersey
The roundtrip airport transfer service is not included in the pricing of the resort, however, you are able to add this service for an additional charge during the booking process.
MariaCC
If you get the package on CheapCarribean with the airport transportation it does, but the actual resort doesn't include transportation. And when you arrive at the airport, they will have options there as well.
Mego3304
I believe the transfer from the airport to the resort is a $20 extra fee through Olympus Tours on Cheap Caribbean. It is definitely worth it and reliable. There was no wait when I arrived in Mexico, there was an Olympus representative waiting to take my boyfriend and I to Riu Caribe! We arrived within a half hour!

The Riu Caribe has a swim up bar, but no beach bar.
LaurenCC
They have a swim up bar but no bar on the beach.
Moeski
Yes there is a swim-up bar, but no bar on the beach.
pspotyraj
There is a swim up bar in the pool and there are servers on the beach taking drink orders. Any time I finished a drink on the beach, there was a server there within minutes to refill my drink. It's awesome!

Is there shopping near by?3 answers
Sheila
yes in walking distance plus you can take a short bus ride and shop close by
prlostspike
Being right in the hotel zone, you are very close to shopping outside of the resort--you are able to walk or take a cab to the different stores.
LaurenCC
Shopping in the local flea market (which is a ton of fun and you can haggle some great prices) is a five minute bus ride away. The Mexican bus system is extremely easy and convenient to use! It also only costs 85 pesos or $1 USD.

They say they offer 24 hour food service but the clause once you get there is "as long as the restaurant is still open"
The sports bar offers nachos, hot dogs and burgers 24 hours

Yes but it is very limited - a few sandwiches and salads. You're better off going to the buffet and taking food to your room

Riu Caribe Cancun: Make Your Scuba Dreams Come True
If you've always wanted to scuba dive, but never had the time or opportunity,
your dream can become reality at the all-inclusive Riu Caribe Cancun. With its
own dive center, Scubacaribe, and a pool devoted to scuba training, you'll be
scuba-ready in no time. Once you're trained, making your way to the coral reefs
is easy. Just book a Scubacaribe excursion.
Once you've maxed out on the serene beauty of the deep, you'll need a place
to chill. There's no better place to take it easy than the lounge chairs at the
main pool. This monster body of water stretches 125 yards--longer than a
football field! And when you want to wet your whistle, nearby poolside and
swim-up bars put a cold hurricane or margarita within easy reach.
If you're up for some action, head out to the 300-yard sparkling, white
beach, where you'll find everything from banana boats to catamarans. And if you
want to gain a little altitude, how about a parasailing trip? Don't forget to
hang on tight to that tow line while enjoying the high-flying view of Cancun's
turquoise waters below.
After you've descended from the roaring wind above, you might hear another
familiar roaring. It's your empty tummy, and you know just where to go--Maria
Margarita. An incredibly tender grilled top sirloin ought to do the trick,
especially if it's followed by the pomp and show of baked Alaska flambee. As
you finish dinner, keep an eye out for what's in store tonight at the outdoor
theater. The colorful costumes and exhilarating music are spectacular here.
Of course, minutes from the Riu Caribe sits the lure of Cancun and its
sizzling nightlife. In Cancun, discos and bars are more than simply places to
drink. They're also unforgettable experiences, filled with everything from
ticker tape and bubble balloons to mimes and circus acts. Don't worry if you
sleep in a little late the next morning. the incredible ancient Mayan ruins at
Chichen Itza and Tulum will still be waiting, just a short drive from the
resort.
