About Los Cabos

Ready to go?

Short Description

Here, at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, land ends and the Sea of Cortez wrestles with Pacific Ocean. Breathtaking beaches line the resort area of Los Cabos, making it the trendiest of the west coast destinations.

Destination Highlights

Top Notch Resorts, World Class fishing and golf, ultimate spa experiences, nightlife. A great getaway for long or short stays.

Local Weather

Cabo has been blessed with what many describe as the perfect climate. Average year-round temperature is 78 degrees, it is a little cooler in the winter and a bit warmer in the summer. Those who live in the desert southwest will consider it cool. Those from the northwest or mountain states will consider it hot. If your from the east or south you will welcome the dry heat.

Description

San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas are separated not just by 21 miles, but by distinct attitudes and ways of life. Where Cabo San Lucas mirrors a spirited version of Los Angeles lifestyle, San Jose del Cabo remains a traditional, tranquil Mexican small town. Great sportfishing originally brought attention to Los Cabos, which was once accessible only by water. It remains a lure today, although golf has overtaken it as the principal attraction. As early as the 1940s, the area attracted a hearty community of cruisers, fishermen, divers, and adventurers. The road that connects Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo is the centerpiece of resort growth. Known as "the Corridor," this well-paved four-lane stretch offers cliff-top vistas. The area's deluxe resorts and renowned golf courses are here, along with a collection of dramatic beaches and coves. The view is especially outstanding in January and February, when gray whales often spout close to shore.

Local Information

The official currency of Mexico is the Mexican Peso. American funds are widely accepted, though we recommend buying some pesos, especially for shopping at the local markets and tips. Currency can be exchanged at casas de cambio (exchange houses), banks, and hotels, though the latter usually have the highest rates and tack on a service fee. ATMs are readily available and accept foreign bankcards. Major credit cards are widely accepted.

Airport Information

Los Cabos is served by most major US carriers as well as AeroMexico year round. An easy 3 hour flight from Los Angeles. Please be advised that many destinations charge a departure fee. Generally, most airlines include this fee in the cost of your airline ticket. We recommend you contact the airline directly to review the details with the carrier.

Entry Requirements

The U.S. Department of State and Homeland Security requires all travelers to and from Mexico to have a passport to establish the bearer's identity and nationality. Non-U.S. citizens should contact the airline they are traveling on, or their local consulate regarding the specific entry requirements that apply to their nationality.
