Amazing

The Wyndham is over all an amazing place to stay. The view from the moment you walk in to the hotel is breath taking. The service is amazing, everyone in Puerto Rico were just amazingly nice and helpful. My only complaint will have to be how humid and damp the rooms are it felt as every night I was sleeping in a wet bed, but I heard that's the way it feels in a lot of hotels on the beach.. It was just weird me to since I never experienced it! The beach is clean, quiet and relaxing, the water is beautiful! I am very happy I picked to stay at the Wyndham Grand rio Mar... It's only 30 mins in to San Juan and like 10 minutes away from Luquillo beach kiosk <3 Which I spent most of my nights having dinner and watching the sunset.

Great place!

This place was beautiful. The staff was very nice. The pools and the beach were amazing. There are options for dining but pricey. Only had breakfast one day and price was high for an everyday option. Also ate at the iguana pub at the country club once and food was delicious but again pricey. If you eat outside resort grounds the food is great and a way better value for your dollar. The room was always clean and housekeeping did a good job tidying up daily. The beds were comfy and the shower had no signs of mildew. Only thing i thought was strange was there was no fan in the bathroom. The view of El Yunque from the balcony was awesome. I'm sure the ocean views would be great also. Another small thing i loved were that the elevators always came so quickly. Never stood in the lobby more than a minute waiting. Unfortunately, we didnt get to try the casino because we were with children but it looked nice. They have a play room with PS4 for the kids and movie nights which my kids loved. There are vendors by the casino for you to buy trinkets and things. The valet staff was cool but be aware you have to pay for parking no matter if using self park or valet. So we used valet daily. My sister in law stood at one of the villas on the property and it was great too just further from the beach. The hotel is steps from the pool and beach. I would definitely come back for another vacation here! Oh and it's only 20-25 mins car ride from the airport.

Step out to the pool and beach Great place!

Getaway w Teens

The WRM is a very nice property. It is off the beaten path and away from the hustle and bustle of San Juan. It is close to some really great local restaurants, a welcome change from the chains in the mainland US. The beach is beautiful and quiet. The chairs have to come in at 5pm so watch out for this. The hotel has been recently renovated. The spa and restaurants exude luxury. With That said, they spent $50M on the renovations but the gym did not see $1.00 of that. With all of the focus on fitness these days you would think they would add state of the art equipment. It's claustrophobic inside and the equipment is very old. Just a Hint: people do indeed workout on vacation. Step up your game here and you earn 5 stars from me hands down. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Enrique was my personal favorite and Luis the valet was so genuine and cordial.

Not that happy!

Everything was ok till my husband and I decide to go to the Adults pool. I'm dont like Iguanas i hate them I'm soo scared about them. This hotel has iguanas everywhere cause they are their pets. So we where in the pool having fun and one of the huge Iguana come around and two guys star finding the iguana. After 3 mins there were like 5 iguanas around I was freek out. But the worse moment was when the hugeee iguana jump into the pool and bite one of the person that was in the pool. So if you are scared of this animals STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!! I called scurity and front desk and they said they can't do anything about it cause Iguanas are the pets of the hotel! Not happy and i'm no coming back to this place never in my life.

What's to Love

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa sits on a gorgeous stretch of beach. Since the waves are calm, it's an easy area to swim in.

What We'd Change

Some restaurants require slacks for men, and the casino requires men to wear collared shirts, but this just gives the guys a chance to show off their stylish side!

Why You Should Go

The resort is a fantastic home base for exploring the natural wonders of Puerto Rico, like the nearby El Yunque tropical rainforest and Fajardo's bioluminescent bay.

Hotel Description

Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa: Experience Adventure in the Caribbean

Carpet putting deserves its own pro circuit, but nothing compares to the real thing. Nestled between El Yunque Rainforest and Fajardo's bioluminescent bay, Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa is touted as the Caribbean's premiere golf resort and home to two world-class golf courses. Tucked into the "Island of Enchantment," Wyndham Grand Rio Mar offers 600 elegant rooms and a tropical setting, majestic mountains and the rhythmic, rolling waves of the Atlantic.

The Ocean Course, designed by Tom and George Fazio, is sheer panorama. Aptly named for its spectacular ocean views, this course features multiple bunkers, elevated greens and four sets of tees. A favorite among guests, mostly for the iguanas and the signature 16th hole.

While the Fazios took a liking to the trade winds, Greg Norman's first-ever Caribbean design, the River Course, is 6,945 yards of rolling green along the Mamayes River. Norman took care to preserve the native foliage of this challenging course, embraced by mountain vistas and seashores, and to allow the natural terrain to determine the placement of all holes. Rumor has it that every hole is a signature hole here.

Non-golfers aren't forgotten, thanks to one mile of gorgeous beach with lots of fun activities, two stunning pools, one for adults and one for families and a 20,000-sq-ft sun deck. And if your putter fails you, perhaps Lady Luck is waiting to smile on you at the casino. Or maybe a session at the spa will help you unwind over that last drive?

As nighttime approaches, stash the clubs and return to Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa to observe the legendary bioluminescent bay of nearby Fajardo, where microorganisms create a mysterious blue-green light that illuminates the calm waters. After a dinner of sushi and Thai delights at Shimas Sushi Bar, retreat to 400-sq-ft, Ocean View Room. Snuggle into the king-sized bed to dream of the birdies or a hole in one!
