"Great hotel for the money. Food is very expensive, but awesome, in Cayman, so budget accordingly." – Marianne

Great Vacation Choice
Pleasantly surprised as we booked the Westin within a week of departure so wasn't expecting a great room. Turned out our island view room was a partial ocean view and the room while basic (king bed, table 2 chairs) was very nice, modern, clean and had a nice balcony which we enjoyed. Westin's trademark Heavenly Beds were comfy. Beach is amazing white sand, water crystal clear, no waves and little reefs 100 yds out to snorkel with many fish, turtles, rays.
This is not a typical over the top, huge Westin property, but a more scaled down version. 2 restaurants are very good (pricey but we'll get to that). Breakfast buffet was very good. Outdoor lunch eatery was good too. Pool and beach service was nice and waitresses friendly and will serve menu items too to your beach chair.
Bars were very small (indoor lounge and pool bar). Night time entertainment is a guitar singer or classical pianist. Nice but too laid back for us.
Pool was nice though on the small side. If there were a lot of kids it wouldn't be enjoyable. Again, nice Westin just not one of their huge resorts like they have in other locations.
So price. Well everything in the Cayman's is VERY expensive. $1 C.I. = $1.25 US. Expect to pay $20-$35 C.I. for a nice dinner entree. $10 C.I. for a bar drink (liquor store across street is cheaper option).
DO get out and use the public bus system. For $2 CI you can ride anywhere and the buses come every few minutes. Just tell the driver where you want to go. We found them to be friendly and helpful. After 9pm its taxis which range from $10-$16.
Explore local restaurants and you'll find bargains like Eats Cafe across the street having very good food and 1/2 the price. Heard the restaurant at Sunshine Suites was excellent and a good bargain too.
Overall a good choice. Westin felt like a small 4-star resort.
And this was our first booking with CheapCaribbean.com. Got a great deal and it was Dan in customer service who made us feel comfortable with booking here. Provided great information, local tips and was everything a customer service rep should be. Thanks Dan.
We enjoyed the Westin Cauarina in Grand Cayman. The room was average but comfortable. The facilities were top-notch, and dining options on the beach were reasonable for the area (I did not feel that they took advantage of you price-wise just because it was convenient). Not a ton to do on Grand Cayman besides relax, which was fine, it was just what we needed. Would have liked a slightly more higher-end hotel room, but other than that I have no criticism of this hotel. A great option in Grand Cayman,.
Traveled with 2 other couples. Doorman opens the door for you. Taxis always ready and waiting. Check-in was quick and easy. Room was spacious. The only negative thing about the room was that the mattress sloped a bit and there was hair on the floor behind the bathroom door. Otherwise, it was very clean and comfortable. Beach was beautiful and I liked that you could rent snorkel equipment, paddle boards, etc. right there. The waitresses on the beach were very friendly and accommodating. I wish there was a restaurant outside where we could eat breakfast and lunch because the view of the beach and water was so great. I would definitely love to go back and stay here!

There are some great restaurants and shops across the street from the resort. Also, there are activities and nightlife a short cab ride away.

Just returned a week ago, had a great time. Casura is a Good hotel for relaxation but you will need a car to get to Georgetown about 5 mi. there are some places near the hotel for nitelife but still a walk of about 20 min. There is an Avis rental desk at the hotel where I got a very fair price. Cab fare is 10 - 20 each way to most of the places you will want to go
Travelman
I would not suggest it for the money....there are many nicer places for less money up and down seven mile beach. The beaches there are the BEST I have ever seen.
heidy
The Westin was great. You can take the public busses all along the 7 mile beach road for $2.50 per person and right into Georgetown. We will stay here again.
klinemw
Everything is close. You will be 3-4 miles away. Use the city buses.2.5 American each way. Safe and easy.
bellalayna
Everything is fairly close however you are better off staying closer to town ie Marriott

There is some entertainment in the hotel, and a few restaurants across the street, but Georgetown, where most of the restaurants and virtually all the bars, etc. are is 4-5 miles away. Unfortunately, cabs are expensive so $16 each way. Local van "buses" run frequently and cost $2.50 US per person each way.
vjpj
The Westin is a easy and inexpensive ride on the bus to most places. The hotel itself is more laid back. I would highly recommend the safari tour to see the island. Have a great time.

What We'd Change
The most expensive thing on this island is food so plan wisely, and stock up on snack and stuff at one of the local groceries and splurge on dinners.

A tranquil haven on Seven Mile Beach (actually 5.5 miles long), the Westin attracts discriminating guests seeking lots of beach room to enjoy the sun, uncrowded access to the warm Caribbean, exceptional dining, and the pampering of a Euro-style health spa.
