Amazing!

The warmth we felt from everyone was amazing. They became like family. The staff would call out our names as we walked by! The transportation was flawless from the minute we landed to the last minute in the D.R. The only thing we wouldve done differently was make reservations ahead of time. No dine in restaurants allowed us to dine. Buffets only the whole trip. But, we weren't there for the food exactly. Love you Cheap Caribbean!!

Friendly People-Very Relaxing

We have very few complaints about this resort. The people were very friendly and got to know us by name. We had 12 family members traveling together, so they upgraded us to the rooms that had been recently renovated. The one thing we didn't like was the lack of restaurant choices. They have awesome buffets 3x a day, but the restaurants included in the brochure are not available with all-inclusive. We tried making reservations at the Chinese and Mexican restaurant, but they told us they were full. We walked in to speak with the manager and the place was completely empty. Not sure what is happening there. After the 3rd day, we got tired of the buffets. The men wanted jet-skis that aren't available here and the younger adults were disappointed there was only one small club. But all in all, it was a great place to relax and enjoy the beach!

Pay for what you get

My group of 18 was very disappointed in the lack of attention to detail throughout the resort. We had to work for everything - call for towels in our room every day, walk far distances to look for snacks because the buffet nearby was empty, try various drinks that were disgusting until settling for beer, and asking for the hot tub to be turned on only to find out the hot tub is not heated... Beach towels can only be replenished once a day. There is a limit of water bottles you can have in your room (2 even though the room is for 4) and mind you, the faucet water cannot be ingested. There were no clocks in the room! Cleaning service did not sweep the tile floor of sand and other dirt, so most of our stay was walking on grit. Pillows were immensely lumpy to the point they left marks on our cheeks. The gym was almost unusable, requiring a staff member to help turn on and off the treadmill since it is so old. The tile floor of the gym is chipping all over and the roof is peeling as well. The best part about the resort is the beach and the ocean, so I advise you spend most of your time there. Avoid all buffet food options and spend a bit more on the restaurants. Better to spend a bit more on another all-inclusive spot.

RELAX!!!

This was our second trip to La Romana. The first time we stayed at the Dominicus Beach and enjoyed ourselves. This time we upgraded to the Dominicus Palace. Not really much difference. The resort is beautiful and the facilities are great. Not a better beach anywhere!Only drawback is the food is just mediocre. Will probably return because of the value. The room lighting is poor for seniors who need more light.

Hotel Description

Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace: Dive into the Big Top

Prepare yourself for some hardcore rest and relaxation, and make your way to the all-inclusive Viva Dominicus Palace in La Romana, located on the southeastern coast of the Dominican Republic. This 83,000-sq-ft resort rests on the island's most pristine, white-sand beach facing the verdant islands of Saona and Catalina.

Should diving be your bag, whether you need a beginner's lesson in the pool or were born with gills, grab a four-night, all-inclusive dive package and explore the Dominican Republic, marine-mammal style. You'll find a wonderland beneath the shimmering indigo surf, as well as horse-eye jacks, sea turtles, spotted eagle rays and brain coral. Wreck divers won't be able to resist the St. George, a 240-ft shipwreck resting 135 ft. below the surface of the water, just off the shore of Viva Dominicus Palace.

Land activities more your style? Grab a catamaran and explore the untouched perfection of Saona or Catalina. Or take some all inclusive dance lessons with that special someone. Looking for something unique? Wander over to Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace's sister resort, next door (all restaurants and drinks here a part of your all inclusive package as well), and take a trapeze lesson. The professional, trapeze-training team offers lessons for adults in the afternoon, while the mornings are reserved for children. And if you think you won't get bragging rights for your newfound skills, a circus-themed show (every Friday) allows you to show off your big-top act to an awestruck public.

While you're basking in all that circus glory, why not do it poolside, lounging in a chair, rum punch in hand? Now that you've worked up a good appetite, visit the La Yuca Buffet for some international cuisine, including grilled local fish, with a side of exotic, fresh fruit.

Sleeping too good this morning to get out of your king-sized bed? Pull back the curtains and gaze out at the surf from your Superior Ocean Front room, while Viva Wyndham Dominicus Palace serves you a continental breakfast, room-service style.
