Had A Wonderful Vacation
We had an awesome two week vacation at the Villa del Palmar! I cannot think of anything I would change. The staff was amazing! Service was fabulous. Our maid service was great. Our favorite and most helpful waiters are Raul, Carlos and Eduardo. We thank you all for making our stay so pleasant.
Beware of the sharks...if you decide to venture off downtown. Everybody wants to talk you into a timeshare presentation. We did not wish to participate. They are very persistant! By the time we returned to the resort, we felt like we had been eaten by the sharks! We always felt at ease as soon as we returned to the property.
It was a very pleasant vacation! Thank you, Villa del Palmar.
Honestly, this was the first resort I have ever stayed at. I was very pleased with what we got out of it. Was it the best hotel ever? No, but then I didn't expect it to be. The only time share pitch I got was when we first got off the airplane. They grab you just as you're leaving the airport. I did attend the presentation and it really wasn't too bad if you have several hours to spare and know how to say no at the crucial point.
I only ate at the restaurant once, but it was very standard American Fare and very overpriced unless you're on the all-inclusive plan. Supposedly, there were three restaurants but the third one must have been hidden because I never saw it.
The rooms were very clean. The ceiling fan was very noisy though and I thought it was going to lift off at one point.
I enjoyed my stay but personally would stay closer to the Malecon next time as there is really nothing within walking distance of the hotel except for the supermarket and more hotels.

Room Information
564 air-conditioned suites with private balconies and either a kitchenette or full-sized kitchen depending on the type of suite. Amenities include: mini-refrigerator, electric stovetop, microwave, toaster, blender, coffee maker, table setting for four, cookware, safe deposit box, radio alarm clock, Travertine marble decor bathroom with tub and shower, digital TV, telephone, iron with ironing board, hair dryer, ceramic tiled floors, ceiling fans, and purified drinking water. Outdoor balconies or terraces are equipped with patio furniture.
The resort's well-maintained grounds are immaculate for a great tropical vibe. Even better? There are three pools, five whirlpools and pool attendants take your cocktail order.
What We'd Change
With only one bar, the resort isn't exactly a hotbed of late-night activity. If you're looking to party, though, downtown Puerto Vallarta is only 10 minutes away.

Located only 10 minutes from the heart of downtown, the resort sits on a gorgeous strip of beach facing Banderas Bay in Mexico. Puerto Vallarta sparkles as you spend your days soaking up sun on a comfy lounge chair perched on the golden sand, looking up only when a waiter brings you a coconut rum cooler or mango daiquiri. Or, if you prefer, plop down next to one of the resort's three immaculate swimming pools or five whirlpools.
When your tummy tells you it's time for dinner, get ready to sample the cuisine of Mexico, or more specifically, Puerto Vallarta, at the restaurant, Jalisco, named for Mexico's seventh largest state. The mouth-watering red snapper is first marinated in a secret house sauce before it's cooked over hot coals. On another night, try the beef filet at La Cucina. Puerto Vallarta is a great spot for parasailing, snorkeling and deep-sea fishing, and you can arrange to try all of these activities while you're on vacation. But why not try something you won't find everywhere? Learn to make pottery from local artisans at the resort, or sharpen your culinary skills as you learn to make authentic salsa and guacamole from the experts! And if you don't feel like activity in the slightest, head to the 10,000-sq-ft Bay Breeze Spa for hydrotherapy or a body wrap.
Sink into the comfy bed for a nap in your One Bedroom Suite before making yourself a snack in the fully equipped kitchen. RESORT UPDATE, MAY 2012: Please note that maintenance repairs will taking place in the pool in the Villa del Mar section of the resort. Guests from Villa del Mar will have access to the pool at the Villa del Palmar section during this time. Repairs are estimated to take up to three weeks and all efforts will be make to avoid any inconveniences to guests.
