it was ok

I had a great time there, however hotel could use some maintenance overall. food was ok, was disappointing that not one day we did see shrimp at the buffet or the menu in the restaurants, being the resort is at the beach and all other resorts carry that on their menu. the beds are horrible, super hard. room clean. employees very friendly, except the receptionist leader (women). i would always go back to Punta Cana, but maybe with another hotel.

Enjoyed the Resort but some amenities were lacking

We had a great time, but were somewhat disappointed with the room that we had. It needed some updates (at least ours did). Perhaps,I shouldn't compare to other resorts, but there were certain amenities that I was expecting that this resort did not have. We had to ask for face towels, and and iron. Even so, overall, we had a great time. The staff was friendly and very helpful. I enjoyed each excursion that we chose. They were very helpful with helping us to choose excursions.

OK but will not be returning to this resort

Time frame from Punta Cana Airport to the Resort is about 40 mins or so, not a bad ride at all. When we arrived, we were greeted by Elias at front desk, he was welcoming. Family room ( connecting rooms/ 1 main door) All Beds are full size. You enter into Room w med size table for luggage storage, closet, one full size bed, 2 nightstands, no tv, sliding balcony door, bathroom, small stand up shower, small sink, no blow dryer in this bathroom. No phone in this room. Large nice mirror, poor lighting though. Connecting door leads you to the second bedroom which has 2 full size beds, closet, safe deposit box, tv, phone, nightstands, small fridge ( which was stocked everyday with soda and water) Windows, door that leads to the shared first bedroom balcony, larger stand up shower, blow dryer, larger sink. The connecting room door has the lock on the side of the double bed ( which wasn't so great for us, as we stayed in the room w one bed and kids were in the double bed room) we used a coin to lock and unlock the door at night. No irons or ironing board in room. We went to guest services and ordered one. They had the cleaning lady bring it when she cleaned the room ( which was a few hours after ordering, no big deal) Bathroom tiles had mold and towel rack was rusty. You couldn't even hang up clothing to dry on there. One Large Umbrella is available in case it rains. No umbrella available in the connecting room. I'm sure if we called Guest services that we would've gotten another one without an issue. Bed is a little stiff but not something you can't deal with. Pillows( suck!!!) had to use our bath towels , rolled them up. Room front door is not even and can allow bugs to enter & AC to escape the room. We read some reviews about AC issues, we didn't have any issues at all and we stayed 5 nights. No outlet next to night stands, bring a power strip extension cord. Room towels- 2 bath towels a day only, no face wash towels or any towels to lay on the floor in front of the shower. Water comes out of the stand up shower and you can slip. We bought our own beach towels and used them in the room. Felipe, from Amstar/our cheap Caribbean rep was very nice. Assisting us with our daughter leaving her phone on the plane and also helping with excursions for our children at half off ( for those who are under the age of 11) WIFI SUCKS BIG TIME! Only available in the lobby, no option to buy data for the week. There were what we call "shark" salesmen in front of the buffet everyday waiting to pick you up for a "welcome gift" which is basically to propose for you to buy property. We weren't surprised by this, as we have also seen this in other resorts. Juaquin- marketing rep. Spoke creole ( very nice man) Glorio- very charismatic, didn't feel pressured by the presentation. We were there for a whole hour , I wasn't too happy about this. Carpiriña- best drink ( white rum w lime). Margaritas were also very good. Made dinner reservations with no issues, always good idea to go the next morning you arrive (early). We dined at the Brazilian Restaurant and The Pilon. Both, great service. Brazilian restaurant was good. They also had amazing seafood , best so far in this place. At the Pilon, we loved the Dulce de leche desert. Plates were beautifully decorated. We love the decoration of this restaurant. The food at the buffet was not warm all of the time. Best dishes we had at the buffet were the Sancocho and the Paella, Amazing!! Our favorite waitor was Paulino. Very attentive, pleasant and respectful. He remembered our name the entire trip. During our visit, we booked two excursions. Our first experience was on the Outback Safari. The whole family loved this full day trip. We took lots of pictures. I loved that the kids were able to see the way life is outside of the resort area. Tour guy Angel and driver is Wilson w outback adventure, $90 adults, 1/2 price children. Wilson was very knowledgable about history of the Dominican Republic. When Angel read the rules of the trip, he mentioned no pregnant women were allowed due to it being a bumpy ride. I believe this is something that should be mentioned before booking the excursion. Schools-----my girls wanted to see the children and visit their school, along with wanting to buy some school supplies for them. Angel mentioned that the teachers are overwhelmed by the tourist visiting the classrooms and with constant interruption, the children become distracted. They no longer allow tourist to get off the bus on school property for those reasons. Please donate school supplies, they need it!! Do not give money to people who are asking for it as it promotes begging. Our second excursion was to Isla Saona. There are two options, regular and VIP. The difference is that VIP includes lobster dinner, and snorkeling. Our tour guy was Jose. Very nice as well, spoke about the history as well. Same rule about the pregnancy was said on this trip after the fact everyone was already picked up from their resorts and on our way to the trip. On Saturday, there was a large amount of Locals who checked in at the resort, making it very overwhelming for various reasons. Not enough seating, pool area and chairs were full, dinner seating was a disaster, ran out of utensils, cups, etc, transportation was a disaster as they would jump ahead of you and your family after waiting for a while. Saturday was our daughters 16th birthday and we couldn't even ask for special services of them (singing happy birthday or even a small cake. ) It was just too chaotic. We ate and left within 20 mins (max) Cheapcarribean had made a note that we were celebrating our daughter's 16th birthday and nothing was done to make it a memorable one. A few years back we were celebrating an anniversary. Cheapcarribean made a note and Lifestyle Resort in Puerto Plata upgraded us to VIP. We traveled from La Guardia and used The Landing as form of transportation from the parking lot to the airport. For 5 nights, we paid $104, we didn't have any issues and will be using again when traveling from this airport. Overall, we tried to make the best out of this trip. We had a good time ( more like an OK time) however will not be returning to this resort. I have to say Punta Cana has the best beach we have visited in the Dominican Republic.

Will never go back

Flights and airplane was good. Our experience with the resort was awful. People were very rude and not helpful. Installation was just ok but public bathrooms were disgusting. Bartender, receptionist, waitresses were not friendly at all. Beach towels were disgusting too and beach chairs were all messed up and dirty. TV was not working, bathroom door kept locking (inside and outside). Not a good experience, specially with employees. It was convenient that we were able to accommodate 5 people in one double bedroom suite (no other hotel offers this) WILL NEVER GO BACK AND I WON'T RECOMMEND THIS RESORT.
