not a 4-5 star service resort

There are many restaurants on property but you can not book when and where you eat...We never got a dinner reservation before 8:00pm and had to to buffet the first 2 nights we were there...One morning I finished my breakfast before I got my drink (water) -Food was marginal at best :( -another table broke a glass on the floor and they did not clean it uo for over 10 minutes -The resort credit is worthless...they make it difficult to pick it up and then most coupons do not apply...i.e "free room upgrade within 24 hours of check in" only I was in best room and I did not get my coupon until my 3rd day...complete waist of time -Large resort so you have to walk or take a shuttle (if there is room) everywhere -Customer service is not a priority...I would prefer to go to a regular resort because the customer service would be more motivated -booked a snorkeling excursion and I got a short boat trip with a 2:30 lunch at the westin -Family concierge was worth having for beach and pool cabana access but not much service after that -We booked the reserve and we're closer to the lobby...the plus was the pool and restaurant not as busy as by the beach...the beach was great and Luis took care of us there (tipping sure helps you make friends and get better service)

Skip the Family Concierge Package & Book Direct

Visually stunning. The food was outrageously delicious. VERY large resort with much to see and do. Was there with my husband and two children. The family concierge package was nothing as advertised. The "special reception area" was a couch and warm bottle water. Our personal concierge knew nothing. We had to argue just to get the cell phone that comes with the package. The Xbox for the room is based on availability and it wasn't available. The room was clean but very very small and cramped with insufficient drawer space. Room service food was ALWAYS cold. THE TROPICAL SAVINGS COUPONS WERE USELESS. In order to use them you had to spend a ton of money first, for example "$100 premium wine voucher" meant they gave you (5) $20 wine vouchers to use one at a time for each bottle of wine you pay $100 for. The $500 shopping vouchers are only good for a select few stores in Punta Cana. Even though they offered to take you there you would be afraid to step off the bus. "$300 room upgrade" also based on availabiliity and none were available...... "romantic dinner", "spa treatments" and "casino credits"...$1500 in vouchers you can only use after you spend another $6G!! I would return only bc the place was stunningly beautiful, clean and well maintained. The entertainment was top notch. Beaches and pools were gorgeous and the food was just incredible. However I would NOT USE CHEAP CARIBBEAN TO BOOK it again, and I would definitely not spend the extra money on the Family Concierge package.

Relax

This was my husband and I second visit to this resort . It is very large resort however, they have transportation carts to take you to the beach or restaurants if you feel like walking is not for you. Lots of restaurants. The food is about average to good; breakfast needed a little more help. . It would be nice to see a snack bar close to the beach so you don't have to go into a restaurant to get a small bite. One thing that is a issue for me is that we had trouble finding chairs as guest would get chairs place an item on it and go out for hours! This needs to be stopped! We paid good money to stay here a week and I would like a lounge chair to lay down to relax. Room: was nice and very clean. Maids didn't like to leave wash clothes. Staff: Average, some was so nice where others wouldn't even crack a smile. The Gill restaurant was our favorite however, the lady took my plate as I was eating.....lol Junior was our butler. He was great! Overall trip was ok . As to returning, I think we will like to stay with smaller resorts. As we feel it is a little bit more personal.

Way better than expected

This trip was our first as a family to an all inclusive resort. Without kids we had been to other resorts. A friend recommended the Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana. Additionally, we read great reviews in Parent Magazine. We did opt for a family concierge (more later). We have stayed at all typed of hotels and resorts (3 to 5 star). My wife and I are both professionals in health care. From the time we arrived we were treated with incredible hospitality. The answer from everyone is, "Yes." The greatest asset of the resort is the staff. Everyone is so nice and welcoming and incredible with kids (ours are ages 4 and 6). As a parent I genuinely felt that the staff loved our children. Every waiter/waitress, bartender, cleaner, beach attendant was wonderful. Our family concierge, Sofia, was wonderful. She helped me recover a lost backpack that I left on our bus to the resort, and in it was my computer--which was returned! Sofia helped us get medications for our daughter that had an illness. She secured reservations at restaurants every night. She was wonderful, and always provided our service with a smile. The facilities are really great for the price. There are so many pools, with beautiful cabanas, and wait service for drinks. The beach and pool experience is incredibly comfortable and relaxing. And there is a KidZone where you can drop off your kids for organized activities that occur throughout the day. The staff are great there as well As for food, the quality was what one would expect for an all inclusive resort. The fish was great and incredibly fresh. There was a lot of variety and there were no crowds. The best thing was that there are so many restaurants and bars that food (variety) and drink were always accessible. We did not experience problems with flies or swarms of mosquitos (very few). The room service was great. We would order whatever we wanted which was great for kids. There is a limited wine and beer selection--which is what we expected. It was not a problem for us. The room was spacious. The only thing was that the room was a little bit old and could probably use a renovation soon. Overall, our trip was wonderful and we would like to return again next year with our family. We have told a bunch of our friends about how great it was. Also, the crowd is more family oriented at the Reserve.

What's to Love

All-inclusive, family-centric with all kinds of delicious luxury packed into this stellar resort.

Lounging on the sugar-white sandy shores. Punta Cana's beaches are stunningly gorgeous.

The chillaxation at the spa is aahh-mazing - glorious massages/facials for you, plus kids have a spa.

Watching the kids on the waterslides at the children's pool. The fun is contagious.

You can tee off at Cocotal Golf Club - greens fees are included and unlimited.

What We'd Change

The beach is a 15-minute walk from the suites. Of course, privacy is the name of the game here, and the seclusion is worth the walk.
