Best Beach

This was our second trip to The Buccaneer in St. Croix. We love the beautiful beach and the relaxing environment. The hotel beach shack provides a variety of free equipment for those who are not content to just lounge in a chair enjoying the sun, sand, and view. Last year we went snorkeling among the reef (with gear from the shack) and were thrilled to witness a small octopus, an eel, and a stingray among the schools of gorgeous fish swimming around us. This year we actually swam with a sea turtle and were stunned to cross paths with a barracuda! Very exciting! Besides snorkeling, my husband took advantage of the free paddleboarding available (last year we paid $40 for the service). I tend to be the type of person who sits on the beach and reads as I'm not a very confident swimmer, but the beach at The Buccaneer is so tranquil that there is no need to even worry about crashing waves! It's like swimming (and floating) in a pool! We were pleasantly surprised this year with a lovely gift basket from the management as a thank you for returning to the resort! It was a very sweet gesture. As far as the rooms go, I do think we preferred last year's Great House room. The Luxury Suite located below the Great House seemed to be much noisier - we could hear everything from the neighboring room. The restaurants did not fail to please. Every dish we ate was a delight to the taste buds. Last year the Terrace restaurant and the Lounge had different menus, which was great since we typically just stay put at the resort and could look forward to a variety of meals. We were surprised to learn that this was not the case this year. Both restaurants had the same menu, so if you plan to stay longer than just a few days, your options may be limited. But if you're craving a burger, you've got to visit The Grotto for the best cheeseburger and fries. It was our favorite option for a quick lunch while we were at the beach. The only thing I would recommend if booking this vacation again and not renting a car is to not book your transportation to and from the airport through Cheap Caribbean. The taxis they use are the most dilapidated dirty vans. We had to wait until all parties who booked transportation arrived (over 30 minutes) only to be put in one of these vans by ourselves anyway and then on the return trip having to wait 20 minutes for a couple that was late for departure. You would be better off contacting The Buccaneer directly to arrange transportation via their Courtesy Vans, which are clean and driven by their wonderful staff.

Amazing!

Our stay at The Buccaneer was amazing from start to finish. Upon arriving we were greeted by the host and she recognized our name and let us know that since we were celebrating our anniversary, she had upgraded our room. The property is beautiful and the majority of the staff was friendly and accommodating. We went snorking at The Grotto beach and paddle boarding at Mermaid Beach. The staff was great and even ventured out with us. The property has LOTS of hills,to climb if you want, but they will, also send a car for you. I guess the biggest compliment would be that other guests we talked to have been here MANY times. We will definitely put it on our list of wonderful places to come and relax.

Best place to stay on St. Croix

Definitely the best resort/hotel on the entire island. This is the place to stay! 3 beaches, water activities, good food, friendly staff. Most restaurants in St. Croix are only open a few hours a day. The Buccaneer came to the rescue when we needed food after 9pm. Also, the views are very pretty. Get a room by the water so you can wake up to the sound of the ocean. I'd come back for sure!
