Founded in the 17th century and family-run for generations, St. Croix's Buccaneer is the Caribbean's and Virgin Islands' longest running resort. Both historic and modern, the resort blends old world charm with warm hospitality and the amenities expected by today's traveler. More than a hotel, The Buccaneer is a premier destination resort for golf, tennis, water sports, weddings, honeymoons and family vacations.

Not a place for young couple or romantic getaway-
My B/F and I just took our first trip to St. Croix. We are a young couple under the age of 35 with no kids.
We stayed at the Buccaneer for 4 nights. The grounds and beaches are beautiful. The service was great. But the biggest downfall the this establishment is that it is a ten minute drive to town where all the bars/restaurants/ watersports are. So if you don't rent a car you have to spend about 10$ each way every time. Also taxis are unreliable and don't run past about 10:30. Also if you rent a car, they drive on the other side of the road which can be tricky.
For not being an all inclusive resort you are forced to stay and pay Manhattan prices for food.
In town it is much cheaper.
This hotel is not good for young couples with no children. It does not have a young crowd and the bar only stays open until 10. I was trying to relax on the beach but there were about 12-15 screaming children and there parents doing nothing about it.
This hotel should NOT be a location for a honeymoon or romantic get away.
I would suggest trying to find a hotel right in Christensted or the DIVI.
We have been coming to St. Croix for years yet this was our first stay at the Buccaneer. It is a beautiful facility rich in history and atmosphere. The accommodating staff were both friendly and professional. Don't miss the weekly manager's welcome party which features a performance by Mocko Jumbies you won't want to miss. The complementary breakfast buffet offered each morning included a plethora of dishes, all very good. The wait staff wore constants smiles and were always eager to please. We highly recommend a stay at the Buccaneer.
This was a beautiful resort - we had a room very close to the Grotto Beach grill, pool and beach which was very important to me as I have a disability and walking a lot is very difficult for me - The Buccaneer upgraded us to that room without me even asking - all the staff was so friendly and accommodating - in fact, I would say it was extraordinary - I can't wait to return - I can definitely recommend The Buccaneer 100%.

Graced by fresh flowers, rooms feature balconies or first-floor terraces furnished with lounge chairs and include tile or marble floors. Each room is equipped with air-conditioning, ceiling fan, small refrigerator, safe, hair dryer, satellite TV, iron and ironing board, and coffee maker.
This place has so much history and has been run by the same family for years. Sits right next to a 18 hole golf course with amazing views, and offers three great beaches.
What We'd Change
For me, I like action in the evenings. This hotel is very laid back, but that is what it is famous for.
Why You Should Go
If you like a traditional hotel, with great friendly service, and something to do for every member of the family, this will be perfect. A rental car is definitely worth the investment. Sunsets from the beach are amazing. Try the spa.
