Great time, but.....

The service from Taxi drivers were outstanding. I highly recommend Douglas. The maid service had nothing to complain about. Orlando, my favorite bartender was fantaboulous. He kept the drinks flowing with not 1 hip cup. My one disappointment was the food. Breakfadt was the same everyday. Not much variety. Not all restaurants are open all at the same time. Not much to offer if someone is a diabetic, no starch meals, more healthy choices would have been greatly appreciated. No worries, I will be back. By then they should have time to change up the menu.

Great snorkeling!

The water was clear, warm and calm all week. An abundant variety of sealife was available to view. . I actually saw more snorkeling at the resort than I did during an excursion we took. Food at the lunch and dinner buffet was mediocre at best. Breakfast was great.Possibly, I theorized, because I estimated occupancy at around ten percent. The occupancy rate was much higher after Thursday. There was not much variety for main courses. The three restaurants were a much better option, although some nights only one was open. The residents of the "Cove" had two additional restaurant options, when they were open. Wait times varied from immediate seating to hour and a half wait. The food was very good in the restaurants and sometimes a "work of art". I had the catch of the day, snapper, twice. The rooms were exceptionally clean, and kept clean. We never ran out of hot water and the air conditioning worked flawlessly. I can't say that about some more expensive resorts where I have stayed. On the down side, the rooms really need to be updated. Plumbing fixtures appear to be 80's vintage. I almost forgot the "mini bar". It is a miniature refrigerator sitting on the floor with two beers, water and soft drinks. Not my definition of a mini bar. There was entertainment every night. Some was provided by the in-house entertainment group and some brought in from outside. But always entertaining and a good time. Overall, we had a blast and met some of the nicest people.

staff is excellent resort is subpar

I was very conflicted about writing this review. First of all I must say that the staff at the resort was excellent. We did pay extra to move to a suite facing the beach when we arrived. The room was outdated and smelled like mildew. The 2nd night my roof started leaking and I was not on the top floor. They moved me to the other resort the next morning. which was a huge difference in the quality of room. The food was horrible, because we upgraded we were able to access all the restaurants should I say that were open that day.The only one worth anything was the terrace for breakfast. All other restaurants were horrible they had great presentation but quality was the worst. The buffet as well had limited selection, and the quality of food other than the jerk chicken was poor. The pools are also old and need to be redone. The things going on at the resort needed updated as well, no night life, it had a pool table in this small area which was what they called the Disco, and it had a foul odor. The shows they put on nightly were also subpar at best. Everyone we spoke to had the same opinion as we did. This is not a 4 star resort at all, the only reason I rated them as well as I did is because of the staff and service. Location is great because we did travel off property and to go to other areas and we were in the middle. Do yourself a favor pay more money and stay at a real 4 star resort.

Excellent Resort

The resort staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. I liked the variety of choices. The bed was extremely comfortable. There was so much to do at the resort we found something new to do every day. The beach was beautiful. The night time entertainment was excellent.
