Too many rules

The hotel (pool and dinning) was over crowed due to their day pass program that seemed to allow anyone from off the street to join in. The only pool closed at 8 and only one bar stayed open past 7. There seemed to be alot of rules, but not one to block inappropriate Behavior in the over crowed pool. Most of the staff were friendly however they didn't speak much English, (something you need to know if you don't speak Spanish). Our room was very clean and the AC worked very well. The beach and water there was very dirty and polluted, not the fault of the resort, just info that you need to know. There were many locals that kept trying to sell us souvenirs, excursions and marijuana on the beach at the resort. Our family had a good time but we will not go back and I would not recommend the resort.

Amazing trip

The resort and vacation was more than we could have asked for. The staff was the best part and made the resort a fun place to be. With daily and nightly activities, there was always something to do. The food was good and had a blast. Pool was super nice and everything loved it. We have no complainants about this resort and would love to come back in the future. Was really in paradise.

Puerto Vallarta Sunscape was not what I was expecting. FIRST AND MOST IMPORTANT IS THAT THEY SELL DAY PASSES TO THE LOCALS, which meant there were over 100 loud and crazy teenagers in the pool and the restaurants (therefore there was a long wait for everything and an over crowded pool). There were only three bars which closed at random times in the day (ex. the swim up bar closed before the pool did). The resort had a lot of rules like the pool closing at 8 (even though it was still light outside), the restaurants would not let you order what you wanted off the menu (even though it is an all inclusive resort), and guest were not allowed to use a pool chair for more than an hour at a time. The staff at the restaurants were rude and rushed us to eat and get out. When it comes to the beach it wasn't the best beach I have seen, but what bothered me was the people on the beach trying to sell cocaine and marijuana. When it came time to leave I had set up reservations for transpertation, however when it came to check out w/ the resort there was no communication on what had to be done and I was forced to do a lengthy survey before I was allowed to leave. On a positive note the rooms and restrooms were very clean.

Good Value Buy

The resort had it's plus's and minuses. The Good: The staff was very hospitable, especially our main concierge Miguel Salas The wait staff in the dining areas were very accommodating. My friend was a Vegan and she was able to eat without worries. The variety of food was good- Italian, Mexican, American Transports too and from hotel were worry free 3rd party company that helped with excursions were great (Pirate Ship was awesome) Room was great and view The Bad: Lots of construction going on. some part of resort looked in disrepair We were on the 11th floor and their was a birds nest in the hallway and every morning around 5:30am they started chirping really loud. Resort ran out of liquid soap on day 2 for a day fridge was only restocked once. Robes and slippers weren't provided initially had to make several phone calls. $200 Resort credit was almost worthless, had to go to another resort if you wanted to use the credit towards a spa. could only use for spa, or dinner on the beach (only a portion of it) and/or a bottle of wine. Lot's of kids definitely great for families not so much for couples

What's to Love

Family-friendly check-in Hollywood style - red carpet stairs and yummy welcome treats.

Resort passports that send the kids on their own adventure.

With the Sierra Madres & Banderas Bay as the resort's backdrop, your selfies are going to break the Internet (hey, they might!)

Spa luxuries like a Chocolate Body Wrap or a blowout that will make your hair shine.

Golden sandy beaches where you can kayak, windsurf or kick back while the kids make sand castles.

The kids will love the waterslide at the pool!

The Marina Vallarta Golf Club is within walking distance to the resort. Hopefully you won't be yelling "Fore!" too much!

What We'd Change

Booking a Sun Club room would have given us a few more perks that we would've liked, especially room service at night. The kids were completely worn out from all the fun in the sun, and ordering in would have been a treat! Luckily, the restaurant let us take food to-go!

Why You Should Go

You'll have a drink in your hand in no time since it's only 10 minutes from the airport.

El Malecon is nearby with shops, restaurants/bars, art, & clowns performing tricks. (not the scary kind).

Surfs up at the Punta Mita surfing school where the whole family can take on the waves.

You can rent a boat and check out the famous Love Island at the Marietas.

Historical San Sebastian is a short drive away.

Swimming with the dolphins is a must and in the right season, the whale watching will blow your mind.
