When we arrived at our destination,we were greeted with such kindness. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We became friends with some of the staff, they welcomed us and we even played softball with some of the staff afterwards. Even on one of the staffs day off, he took us around and showed us the city and some of the interesting places around the city. There are some things that should be changed, like how people save spots by the pool and never come back to those chairs till hours later, so it made it impossible to enjoy the pool. Also the WiFi was very hard to stay connected. The airport was a nightmare though, we did not receive our luggage until a day after we got home. Because our luggage did not make the flight.

went wrong from the start

Staff are rude, food was sub-par at the very least, interaction from the staff was (never) very boring time at the resort, we also had 24 hr room service this never happen we tried several times, could not get coffee till 7am, they pushed for a 2 hour sell on the resort, free Wi-Fi not, we never were told we need to get a password everyday which cost us a lot of money on phone calls, the excretions we paid for were very good but as I stated we paid for them. 5 hour flight delay back home which cost us another $500 were supposed to get into Boston at 8pm it was 2 pm so we had to rent a room ect. My wife and I have been married 8 years and this was our honeymoon and it was a disaster, the best thing on the flight delay was we were told it was a fuel issue then were told it was a pilot issue NOT EXCEPTABLE, we spent well over $3500 on this trip we should have stayed home. we did call cheap Caribbean and also with Amstar, I feel we should be compensated from jet blue and cheap Caribbean, I will go out of my way to let people know not to go to sunscape

Great Vacation with Firends!

I liked this resort very much. Clean. Friendly staff. Very well maintained. Easy to navigate. Pools are clean. Spacious and airy rooms and bathrooms. In-room refrigerator kept stocked with beer, soda and water. PLENTY of restrooms throughout the resort - tended to be wet (expected), but kept clean and supplied. A couple of gift shops and a cigar shop and pharmacy on-site as well as a 24-hour medical facility. Poolside entertainment throughout the day (games, fitness) and there was a show every night (music, dancing, magic, etc.). The main eating place (WINDOWS) was very good! They had a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Variety was awesome and the food was well-prepared and tasted very good. There are Argentine (GAUCHO), Italian (DA MARIO), Chinese (GOHAN), Caribbean (CASTAWAYS) and Pizza (PIZZA SHOP) restaurants for dinner as well. The Argentine and Caribbean were the best (for me). The pizza was very good. I did not care for the Italian or Chinese. In addition, the service at the Chinese was horrible (attitude, availability, food). TAMARINDO for lunch and snacks (late); BAREFOOT GRILL for lunch - did not go there; COCO CAFE for coffees and desserts all day - did not go there, but those in our group that did said it was really good. TAMARINDO is awesome! Such a great selection for lunch and right above the pool (grilled chicken (to die for), wings, hot dogs, smoked sausage, hamburgers, chicken patties, french fries, salad and fruit bar, nachos and everything that goes with all that. Good service and the BARRACUDA (10am-6pm) bar there! Great swim-up bar (MANATEES, 10am-6pm) with several stools. There are RENDEZVOUS (Lobby, 10am-1am), STARLIGHT (Music Lounge, 11pm-2am) - did not go there, VERANDA (6pm-10pm) and by the stage with Ping Pong, Pool, Foosball) bars as well. The drinks are very good and there is plenty! Service is very good. The SPA was wonderful and pricing is reasonable. Here is a suggestion since you cannot drink the water. Although the room refrigerator is restocked every day with water - it was never enough. I would suggest that every floor of every building be equipped with a bottled water vending machine. instead of currency, you would have to use your room key to operate it. Since it costs nothing to the guests anyway, it would be a great amenity. And, finally, here is a con that I find with all the resorts that I have been to thus far: There are always an Italian and Chinese/Japanese restaurants - WHY??? The food is never good and the service is usually a bit snobby. I would prefer that they have more local-type cuisine and not bother with the others. Room Tip: Bldg. 12 is closest to the beach; Bldgs. 10 & 11 are close to the spa, pool, entertainment, Windows Buffet, Lobby...

Great Vacation with Firends! Great Vacation with Firends!

Fun but many things I would change

This was our first vacation to an all inclusive and it felt like we were figuring things out as we went and weren't told or helped with very many things. We also should have done more research before we left about general culture, tipping, etc. The first thing that happened when I arrived was a man from "vip services" swept my boyfriend and I away and started giving us all these coupons and talking about meeting him back in the lobby for breakfast the next morning. We were so overwhelmed and wanted to be left alone. The next morning we went and met him come to find out we had to sit through a 90 minute presentation about vacation membership Packages in order to receive a coupon for the spa. We did get a couples massage which was very relaxing. The breakfast and lunch options were pretty awful. The 3 main dinner restaurants were good. There are only two pools and only 1 is large. Rooms were decent. We stayed in building #12 which was very close to the beach and quiet. We heard from other guests that some of the buildings (#7) that were close to a Main road and a club off site that it was SO loud. All of the staff were very friendly. Especially our Amstar (transportation and excursion guide). We did the VIP excursion to Paradise Island which was a lot of fun. If I were to choose again I would pay more money for a classier establishment.

What's to Love

Feeling like royalty during the red carpet check-in while you nosh on frosty welcome treats.

Stress-busting spa with a delicious menu of pampering, you-spoiling treatments.

The golden sands of Playa Dorado that are calling your name.

The indoor theatre that offers up some booty-shaking nighttime entertainment. Woot!

Tons of activities for the kiddos, which means more chillaxin' time for you.

The Teleferico Cable Car - the only funicular in the Caribbean.

What We'd Change

The resort opens April 2016, so this brand new, sparkly resort really has no flaws, except maybe a few opening jitters. Don't worry - they know what they're doing and quality service is definitely top priority.

Why You Should Go

Just 20 minutes from the airport so getting to the resort is a breeze.

27 Damajagua Cascades are near - 27 natural river pools and waterfalls - and there's may be an extra cost, but it's so worth it.

The Sun Club, a family-centric program that features upgraded everything.

A golf course designed by the famous Robert Trent Jones surrounds the resort. Easy to get to when it's your tee time.

The famous Malecon beach strip is full of restaurants/bars, local vendors and Fort San Felipe to visit.

You can hike and bike through lush, tropical terrain - you might even see an exotic bird or two.
